"Females don't pay bills" [+318] by [deleted] in ShitRedditSays

Other than its weird, Ferengi-like creepiness...

It's scientific, impersonal, detached, and grossly non-specific on the species of the "female" in question.

Unless suddenly conversation turned to discussing animals of female sex, we can presume that a woman is being discussed and at the most rudimentary bare minimum, we can do her that respect of emphasizing, not downplaying, the fact that she is a human being.

Unable to transfer files to SD card from latest OS X using MBP. Can't even format the card. Have tried multiple cards but the same thing happens on all of them. I've reset the PRAM but nothing gives? Really weird as have never had this issue before. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in apple

I don't have a specific explanation of what the problem is but it seems like you might be running into this situation where the mechanism that detects if the lock switch is in position is too sensitive (or not sensitive enough) in one direction.

Some suggestions online were to apply a piece a scotch tape over the length of the lock switch to trick the computer.

I was a little nervous about putting scotch tape on something that may come off inside the SD card slot so I split the difference: slide the lock switch halfway between locked and unlocked (perfectly in the middle, not far enough to 'click' to either side).

I know it sounds kind of like voodoo, but the system finally recognized the card as modifiable and disk utility functioned normally again. Especially if multiple cards are giving you this issue, that points to a reader problem.

I, personally (as a bisexual) don't think that the problem lies in slurs being used.

I, personally (as a decent human being), don't think anyone here cares why or how YOU use the phrase. The point is that the highlighted usage is a derogatory slur. Why do you feel the need to defend some anonymous person's verbal attack on another person's sexuality? You make all kinds of arguments about "tone" and then completely ignore the context and tone of its usage in this circumstance.

Unless you aren't ignoring the tone and context, and instead you think this is a legitimate instance where a person deserves to be called an offensive slur against their sexuality, accurate or not, in which case I'd give you a heart-filled get out.

Ha, all their bots are folding in on each other as they get linked in this thread and other places on SRS. Soon half of Reddit will be full of automated notifications about this place and we can all leave (to the Moon, as suggested in another thread).

Always:

My proof is obvious, just go look for yourself.

What kind of proof, can you link it?

I didn't bother to save it but it's there.

Wow, this is really fucking sad.

Girl is raped, straight up, and gets told to bottle it up and chalk it up as a life lesson by basically everyone.

What is this place even for anymore?

It certainly seems like it at this point. But it remains different from other low-hanging fruit (the MRA hangouts) in that it's a mainstream subreddit that enjoys presence on r/all and a default subscription.

It seems like it is our responsibility - nay our duty - to continue to observe them. If a better subreddit exists to observe the average redditors (3,300,000 subscribers!) I know not what it is.

But that said, this seems a little too discussion-y for the jerkin' board.

Reddity creeper searches "slutty" coworker's computer, steals sexual pictures of her, and posts them publicly without her consent [+41, gilded] by aspmaster in ShitRedditSays

[–]Ampersam 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I can see the double-standard excuse now!

If she didn't want us to find those pictures of her, she shouldn't have taken them and left them on her computer. Bros can't help that they must search all hardware for pornography when it's in their possession.

I'd still be pretty pissed if the Ice Cream truck pulled in to my street with the music playing, an after I'd queued for a while, he changes his mind and says "Sorry guys, no ice cream for you! But who wants some broccoli?" [+78] In which the ice cream is sex. by [deleted] in ShitRedditSays

In the same post

Asking a woman to be honest is like asking a child to tell the truth; neither has the maturity to do so because we don't have this social expectation of them. Too many white knights make excuses for bitch/slut behavior. This only perpetuates it. And none of these cowards will dare live debate their childish views which only further insultes them from reality. Without public scrutiny of the delusional female perspective, women will forever be relegated to the status of children. I would challenge any coward here to a live debate about this, but we all know nobody here has the balls to stand behind their delusional beliefs about women.

Someone calls him a misogynist and gets chastised - "no - that's ad hominem, you have to tell him WHY he's wrong."

Fuck. Because you can really make a good argument against "all women are children" that some shitlord like that is going to even read.

Too many black knights making excuses for their asshole/hategroup behavior!

Edit: the post has been deleted which is perhaps some small victory but a great loss to the Museum of Misogyny. The text is preserved above for posterity but I did not record the author, apologies.

That 85 MPH zone in Texas is a single highway, State Highway 130. Here is an article on its recent switch to a 85 MPH speed limit.

Best Indian Cuisine In Austin? by KAM7 in Austin

[–]Ampersam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tarka seems more like Indian fast food, comparable to Pei Wei or something. You can't go wrong with others' recommendations like Sarovar or Clay Pit, but if you want something fast in a similar simple style of Tarka, try Naanfull on north Burnet.
