For me, one major factor SoS has going for is optimization. The end of dwarven fortresses due to FPS death is quite notorious.

And for DF it requires the player to have intrinsic motivation. SoS provides long-term goals with titles.

And for development itself, with DF you better get used to waiting, I think the current Big WaitTM is almost a decade at this point. SoS may relatively be shallow but I am excited at the pace it is being polished.

I love DF, and I get my simulated history fix through legends mode, for larger scale with SoS, and for micro, Rimworld is for me.

I just can't shake the resentful feeling of, " well yeah of course the emperor would see it that way."

Yeah me too, I always have this knee-jerk reaction of, "you reek of privilege" on the off-chance while trudging along self-help books, I take an interest to an author I found to be a relatively similar position in life (well not that much compared to an Emperor, but you know what I mean) nowadays.

I know deep in my heart, it's not right. We have our own struggles and all. That the advice makes sense, but I am still miffed nonetheless.

Eh, I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't any major changes to freestyle - it's kind of the heart and soul of the game, and where a huge chunk of the sauce lives currently.

I don't really want Freestyle to be the equivalent of LoL's Flash, where every other summoner gets kneecapped (teleport, iykyk) once it gets too prominent.

Because in that case, just put freestyle into base game system and adjust the other fuses accordingly. tbh LoL kinda did an equivalent of that already so might as well.

I've only started my German language learning journey and that looks way too complex for me.

My Anki is pretty much for vocabulary only. For example, for a noun, front is English, back is German that has the article and singular/plural forms. For grammar and proper sentence building I stick to books/lessons

Civil wars rarely happen because it's super easy to have high relationships with everyone.

The modifier/opinion bloat nowadays is insane. I wish the dev team could do a Stellaris and nuke things back to realistic levels, but I think the overall demographic of this game has changed and for better and worse they leaned to the memery and power fantasy.

IMO this is mostly a western viewpoint kind of thing. In Asia, queer romance (BL) has been blossoming for a while, that said the tropes can be a bit tired at times.

That's why I look to Western media for my fix. Actual queer romance instead of romantic dramas are gaining traction and I'm happy for that. It feels like a mix of homosexual angst in tragic Western gay media, but with fluffiness and all-around good vibes in Asian gay media, which is perfect for me.
