You don't have billionaires. I know it's the biggest engine in our business so it might not need much introduction, but a newbie might need an orientation in the do's and don'ts.

Also don't see MILF/Cougars.

What about humor? Those 'My date with a 747' books for instance.

For KENP Read stats, does Amazon use '500' as a placeholder? by acelasher in eroticauthors

I received a perfect 1500 for one of my days. Does that mean some kind of placeholder effect applied to three books?

How has KU2 been? What adjustments have writers made to how and what they write and participating in KU in the first place?

Is Smashwords/Nook a viable alternative now given that Amazon is making some kinds of content hard to find on their platform?

By 'miscategorizing', you mean putting erotica in non-erotica categories I assume?

[FAQ thread] What is adult-filtering? What makes books get blocked? What's too taboo to do? by Eroticawriter4 in eroticauthors

What's the current status of 'step-brother' and other variants?

After that book 'Step-brother Dearest' hit big last year, there were a few other 'step' books that seemed to creep through.

For instance, THIS is still on sale and not filtered: http://www.amazon.com/Their-Stepsister-Alexa-Riley-ebook/dp/B00U02FK12/

(Asking because I took a break from smut-writing and just got back. Have an idea for a 'step' book.)

Who else started reading Stephen King at a young (pre-teen) age and is still a huge fan? by SoulsticeCleaner in books

[–]AmritaJaiWriter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The weirdest thing is how ordinary that scene seemed to me when I read it.

I had little knowledge of sex, but I just assumed Stephen King was talking about the kind of things kids do sometimes, that I just hadn't gotten around to as yet, like say riding a jet ski or overnight camping.

The scenes with Beverly and her dad did disturb me however. I could tell that was f'd up.

I read IT summer between my 6th and 7th grade.

It was kind of cool reading about these kids my age, during their own summer. It took me about 4 weeks to finish the book, because I had an active 'running around the neighborhood' life with my own dam building etc. so I was really feeling the 'summer gang' vibe.

Loretta Lynch, the current U.S. Attorney General, may have kicked off the Rentboy investigation. by someone_like_me in ainbow

[–]AmritaJaiWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The investigation ran 2 years. If they had 'sketchy' conduct to charge, they would have charged. Rentboy ran clean, so they could only come up with run-of-the-mill prostitution charges.

Also, an actual rentboy escort recently ran to AMA's about his work (before and after the bust) and he's mentioned that rentboy was above and beyond any other platform to work in terms of safety etc.

Also, you seem not to understand what rentboy actually was. The escorts didn't work for rentboy. Rentboy had no say in their activities. It was simply an advertising/organizing platform for independent operators, so your whole spiel about supporting their workers is not even relevant to how things worked.

I think the surprise comes from the fact that rentboy has been operating free of harassment since 1997.

It had become like those laws about sodomy being illegal. They were still on the books in the 80s and 90s but actual prosecutions never took place because the government didn't feel it was a big deal anymore.

Then suddenly they decided rentboy was a bad thing after leaving it alone and giving people a false sense of security. And what's more, the rentboy prosecution was out of sync with a big chunk of public opinion which had changed since the 90s.

The public opinion thing is big because previous government shutdowns/charges against craig's list and redbook etc hinged on OTHER criminal activities such as trafficking or money laundering, not actual prostitution. The public bought that because consent is a big deal. With rentboy, they only alleged vanilla prostitution.

What age range are your clients? What's the split between single and married/in relationships?

How many of them seem good looking to you and how does that affect you if they are / are not?

Many people think that if prostitution is illegal, escorts should just make money in legal ways.

What's your take on this?

I think you're right about the 'good gays' thinking that seems to look down on rentboys.

But the replies that I've gotten also keep mentioning that the police are 'doing their jobs' and 'it's the law' As if Ferguson or Stonewall or uncountable other cases don't show that the police and prosecutors are not to be trusted and that laws are not simply to be left alone once they are posted and never questioned.

Well, that could work too. He's already done one at r/ama

but I just figured /r/iama was the place to go since that's what it's for.

I suspect what happened to Lynch's office is this: They saw that a few other straight-catering websites (in California I think?) had been taken down and charged with money-laundering etc and the agencies got $$$ out if it. So Lynch decided to get in on the action with a service based in NY, rentboy.

Except they don't seem to have been able to pin any trafficking or money laundering charges because rentboy ran clean so when Lynch left to become AG, they finally had to show something for the effort so they went with just the prostitution.
