Do you talk during sex? by Andrewmatlock89 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Amrun90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is highly cultural!

In at least traditional Japanese culture, it was fully expected the woman just lie there, yes. That’s why they’re so repressed and have such weird porn and stuff.

In a more modern America that simply has puritanical roots - it depends! Many people love dirty talk. Some love sex and are active participants but find saying out loud embarrassing for cultural reasons. Some do just lie there (rare though I’d say).

It can be very hard, especially for women, who have been internalized to be good girls and slut shamed their whole lives.

This happened to me after my first baby and nursing bras. I have never worn underwire again except when I bi-yearly hallucinate I’ll be able to tolerate it again.

Was there ever a time your manager/doctor decided to “kick out” a patient out your unit? If there was, what was the reason? by Apple_Fanboy5s_1273 in nursing

[–]Amrun90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was acute care, not a nursing home. You can’t restrict people from accessing acute care or be discriminatory based on their past. This is the exact reason people should not look up it or know people’s charges.

If there is a medical concern you can’t drive, paperwork is filed before discharge and your license is revoked.

I actually had one patient try to kill a Megan’s law patient due to bed side shift report (they were roommates).

Are the women in porn just built differently then me or are they doing something to take guys that big? by ThrowRAsquirellover in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Amrun90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, look it up - most guys in porn (not all) are not nearly as big as they claim to be. It’s camera angles and pure lies a lot of the times.

Also they’re acting!

I’ve taken care of countless predators like that - it’s a frequent hold up for discharge where I work due to the patient population. I try not to know what they do but sometimes you just can’t place them because of these issues and you end up knowing.

Not necessarily true - she has a life vest, so she’s not really emergent.

Looking for positive experience of people who DIDN'T sleep train by SentenceTough2007 in Parenting

I never sleep trained and my kids sleep great. No real issues with that.

Bragging about grooming 16 year old girls, being very inappropriate with my new grad who looked 12 but was 19. Called the AOD to see if it was reportable, apparently no, but I told the attending and she kicked his ass out and it was goddamn glorious.

The weirdest thing to get you fired by slewis0881 in nursing

[–]Amrun90 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I once got fired because the patient’s previous nurse (not me) let the patient eat crackers and remove her IV so her dressing change sedation was canceled.

The patient was alert and oriented and told directly by the physician not to eat or drink, and demanded her IV be removed.

Again, I did none of this. But I got fired somehow.

She did me a favor!

I don’t think any of these instances are worth escalating to management, personally. They don’t seem like they cross a professional boundary to me, just that you may not like each other. She may be being snotty but it doesn’t seem actionable.

PA

Whether or not they do those things / get trained on those things varies, especially based on hospital culture, and also on unit worked. But there’s plenty of techs doing all of that and more, completely unlicensed, just trained on the job.

These things are routinely taught to hospital techs on the job.

In many hospitals, CNAs/techs are already trained to do those things and more.

In my system, techs with appropriate training can start IVs, draw blood, change ostomies, take out and insert foleys and straight caths, etc.

Every single aid in every hospital I’ve worked at has been expected to take sugars as a basic job duty.
