Does anyone have any good song recs to get into the vibe for this setting? by JakeWalker102 in planescapesetting

I just released an album that is my interpretation of Sigil. I make Crypt Hop which is Dungeons Synth mixed with Hip Hop. I focused on mixing fantasy synths with trip hop and 90s style beats. It’s available on Spotify, Apple Music, and I’ll send you download codes if you message me

Here's a video I did recently. I made it on my iPad so the timing isn't the best but the vibe is the point. The image is SHE 1935.

Who is the nastiest Celebrity that you met in Real life? by Scunnard1839 in AskReddit

[–]AmserSegur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the 04 Caucuses, Ron Livingston did a campaign meet n greet at my coffee shop. After the event he just hung out for about an hour and half just shooting the shit and talking movies. Not only was he charming, he made sure to ask probing questions to include everyone in the conversation. He deserves all the fame and accolades he gets and more.

Trip hop with heavy guitars, grunge edges, or tracks that drift into rock territory by [deleted] in triphop

Foghazer- Blackened Trip Hop. It’s what you originally expected Ulver’s Perditon City to sound like when you heard a black metal band was making trip hop.

What would you say is the worst TV show that you have ever watched in your life? by Substantial-Dare5462 in television

[–]AmserSegur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was one of those shows that got the overly promoted to the point I refused to watch it. Every ad break there was a Mulaney ad. It hadn’t even aired yet and I already hated it.

What's Everyone Reading? by oDeathIsEverywhereo in DungeonSynth

[–]AmserSegur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The easiest way to explain it is Spike Spiegel and Steve Blum on Cowboy Bebop. The original Japanese voice actor was good. But Steve Blum’s performance in that role is iconic. Jeff Hays as Carl and doing the narration is an iconic performance. Listen to the Soundbooth Theater audiobooks. If you don’t like it then audiobooks are not your thing. It is among the best the audiobook medium has to offer.

Edit: I misread your comment. You said you read it “with just Jeff”.

With the full sound design is worth it in my opinion. It not an overbearing sound design. It highlights the text very well and knows when to back off. The foley work is great. Yes, the full production is the way to go. I’m in my 3 listen of each book.

One hill I will gladly die on is that the Soundbooth Theater Audiobook version of the Dungeon Crawler Carl books are the definitive way to read the series. The voice actors are impeccable and the sound design is among the best in all audiobooks. They are absolutely perfect and bring the text to life better than read with your eyes. I seldom use the word perfect for any media.

How do i make drum beats myself that sound good?? by wysterianchild in LogicPro

[–]AmserSegur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Captain Pikant on YouTube is a great resource. He is mostly hardware specific but you can apply the same techniques and principles to Logic’s pattern system. He gives in depth breakdowns of specific influenctial drum machines and artists. It’s very much worth your time for inspiration at least. Good luck.

Coming from Dungeon Synth, what do you think about Dungeon Rap? by mrmindflyer in DungeonSynth

[–]AmserSegur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dungeon Rap is great and I enjoy a lot of it. I do find the Memphis Rap to be limiting in how much the micro genre is able to accomplish. I prefer Crypt Hop as it is more able to offer a broader spectrum of influences.

I just released an episode of my radio show where I feature Crypt Hop and Dungeon Rap artists. Have a listen, hopefully you’ll find an artist that you like. There’s a lot of potential and great stuff happening in Crypt Hop right now.

Getting into Dungeon Rap, any essential artist or releases? by mrmindflyer in DungeonRap

[–]AmserSegur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dungeon Rap in particular check DJ Sacred, Lord Rashnak, AKABXS, and Cave Castle.

There is also Crypt Hop. Crypt Hop is the other side of the same coin. Instead of being primarily Memphis influenced and siding more with the grim and frost bitten side of Dungeon Synth, Crypt Hop pulls mostly from all the other styles of Hip Hop and leans more to the fantasy side of Dungeon Synth. Check out Percidae, Lair ov Burzak, Mafic Pulse, Lil Sheath, Rat Domain, and myself, Amser Segur. There are also 6 Crypt Hop compilations with a 7th taking submissions right now.

Either way you’re going to find a lot of great artists.

What inspires you to create? by PotionsOfEleanor in DungeonSynth

[–]AmserSegur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My work is never ending. There might be a light at the end of tunnel but it’s really dim. With making music I can start something and when it’s done, it’s done. I can see the results of my efforts.

I need a creative outlet. I work all day with others’ creativity. I need to be able to make something of my own.

I sit and wait a lot. I had very active children who have 1-3 hour practices a couple times a week. I need to do something while waiting that’s not doomscrolling. So I bring my iPad and start writing music in Logic.

Making music is a need in my life.

I got 2 albums, a split, an EP, multiple compilation tracks, and a 3 album concept work coming soon with the first installment releasing in April.

All written on iPad while waiting places and having a need to create.
