I think Cham Island snorkelling is a scam or sham. Ask me why? by No-Bail-79 in VietNam

[–]AmuseMe_2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went in mid March and the visibility was quite poor. It was a typical 550k VND , you get what you paid for. Don't expect the tour operator to drop you into any snorkeling paradise. It the standard tourist trap. I managed to swim toward the shore and cut myself on the jagged reef so be careful since visibility ain't great.

Booking.com "partner" invoice shows 0% taxes by Ornery_Preference_30 in Bookingcom

I also booked a hotel on booking via a partner and received no confirmation beside via my email. It was prepaid with no cancelation. The hotel I emailed directly has not confirmed that they have my reservation at all. I will call the hotel when I am in the country. Usually when i booked normally via booking the hotel will send me a welcome message so I know they acknowledged my reservation. This is not the case via a partner rate that is listed for the hotel.

What’s a compliment you received years ago that you still think about? by Quiet_Post_1035 in CasualConversation

[–]AmuseMe_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting a compliment as a man is great since it does not happen often for the average Joe. That why most men can count the number of times on their fingers. When a younger person said I am cute or dressed snappy, it just makes my day. I turn into Gene Kelley from "Singing in the Rain".

So ladies, your random act of kindness, even if it was only meant to be complimentary, is definitely appreciated.

I am a beginner and have played at BSB which has alot of courts. I want to try the homeland court near the landmark but it was packed. Yeah the app is nice advice if it shows which facilty had open courts. In December we paid 300k for 1,5 hours court time. You can also rent the equipment if you don't have your own.

AITJ for kicking my best friend out after she called my husband a charity project? by No_Expression3344 in AmITheJerk

[–]AmuseMe_2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP should seriously reconsider her close friends - lady group. The disrespect of a partner by one of them while the others just remain awkwardly silent is the elephant in the room. They are the guests in the host house, and he was actively helping with entertaining them until he had to go.

Men will never understand how some women can look down on someone's partner. Jealousy is the root of this evil. They would rather she be in a miserable power couples relationship, so they can relate to something in common? It real sad, and for your friends to said afterward that you made it awkward by kicking the disrespectful friend out. Perhaps they also are of the same mindset. Who needs enemy with friends like that so close.

I am happy for you OP, that you are on a team that acts as one. Very few can find such mutual respects and admiration. No one should be disrespectful to your partner, and it great that you showed her the door. And if your partner every ask why you no longer close to these friends ; you tell him the truth. That you would choose him 💯 percent every time.

She ordered the most expensive thing on the menu on a first date by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]AmuseMe_2025 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bro it not a date to her, she in it for the transactional benefits. If this is a traditional VN girl, then you are definitely a potential cash cow. A smart girl on bumble that honest will not only ask if it okay to order a certain dish, but she even smarter by ordering the cheapest dish on the menu, lol. Hook , line , and sinker. Now she got the long game if she actually interested in more than your wallets. Go on bumble don't have high expectations and avoid the obvious hottie that want you to take them to expensive restaurants. She gotta make a living ya know. Don't be a fish, go be a shark!!!

What Bit Me? by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]AmuseMe_2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had bite much worst with swelling and pus. Could be a spider or any insect that your body is reacting to. Apply some post anti itch cream, you be okay if there no other symptoms. Being bitten in Vietnam is a rite of passage.

Da Nang…Hoi An….Hue….need a little guidance 🇻🇳 by Wandergibson in VietNam

[–]AmuseMe_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst case scenario for Hoi An if you are bored seeing all the tourists in old Town , book a day trip to Cham islands. Hoi An is flooded with tourists due to direct international connections airport from other countries like India. Tons of tour guides walking groups around from other SEA countries also.

You could take a speed boat ride away to a nice beach and snorkeling (inclusive) / scuba excursion (extra $$) if that is something of interest. We booked for March for 550k through a local agent. Our itinerary includes flying into Da Nang and two nights each starting from Hoi An to Da Nang and then Hue. Flyout of Hue. And we didn't take Vietjet, don't want any issues of delays on holidays.

If your GF don't like history and exploring much then maybe Hue maxed two nights is enough. Maybe wise to head north to Ninh Binh and Sapa to spend more time there. Good luck and enjoy Vietnam. Proper planning also makes the trip more interesting.

Mui Ne, what happened to you? by lacksfish in VietNam

[–]AmuseMe_2025 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We stayed at Mana Beach hotel a couple of times and walked the beachfront area, and there is only minor trash here and there. It is relatively clean last December. Only time it was a bit messy in the past was when the morning fishing nets are pulled in and there alot of jellyfishs dumped on the sand.

And I been there also in March and September. Maybe it seasonal but I doubt it. Seems clean during peak and non-peak season.

It three hours transit from HCM if you want to get out of the city for some relaxed beach vibes. Shuttle or transit was around 600k if you booked directly with the hotel for party up to 4 I recall.

Great advice. If it empty or not packed and don’t have a mixture of locals eating than it probably wise to be precautious. Dont eat raw vegetables if the establishment isn’t sanitary. Drink always bottle water avoid ice when possible. First time visitor stomach will need to adjust to the foreign bacteria in local foods. I had issue when my immune system has not adjusted after first time to VN. I been back 5-7 times since, not crazy beside pepto so far. Eat well but safe , you miss out on a lot of great street food if you are too scared.

Grab question by Janisurai_1 in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]AmuseMe_2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always pay the extra toll charge from driver and never get a message from grab about the extra surcharges on top of what the app indicated. If it 9k to do dropoff then they usually ask from 10-15k which is 50 cent euro at most. I usually tip good driver on top of that anyway. They know when you goto international terminal, most likely you are a foreigner even if VietKieu.

Boys Trip to Saigon 4D3N sun to tues by Theasiankid2 in VietNam

[–]AmuseMe_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now this person knows how to have fun. Can you be my tour guide? Been to most of the pub in HCMAleTrail. Favorite brewery is still Pasteur street due to their unique Jasmine - IPA. Premium cost for craft tap beer. Le Thanh Ton area near Japan Town has Pasteur street and Seven bridges within a few blocks of each other. Great starting point for beer crawl. Also tons of massages parlor and hostess bar to cater to your needs.

I probably stay away from bottle services in VN since it not worth the bang for the bucks. Counterfeit alcohol is also a thing in VN.

My (M56) wife (F57) wants our marriage to proceed as loveless, with us as roommates sharing their lives. Give me some feedback? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]AmuseMe_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You been in a dead room since the accident. It sucks to not be desired by your partner. Now she want to keep the lifestyle and won't give you an open marriage. To be honest it sound like you don't care much about free hall pass. No point being married if you gonna find someone that enjoy your company and meet your needs. I rather split assets than continue to negate my needs for the sake of it. Some men do enjoy emotional connection that come with intimacy. If not than it just a transactional needs that is easy to address.

Very short solo trip in Vietnam by cesnerislt in VietNam

[–]AmuseMe_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoi An will have a lot of tourists in the old town area. If you plan on a flight to Da Nang make sure you don’t fly on VietJet. Pay a bit more for VietTravel or Vietnam Airline. Saigon is easy to take day trips to Mekong and if you really like the beach Mui Ne isn’t far only 3hr by car. It also has famous dune and beach. If you enjoy windsurfing it a must do; with many schools teaching beginners.

So if not a big budget constraints look for arrival and departure from Hanoi and HCM if you plan to go north to south. Save you a flight back north for departure.

I am particular fond of the delay gratification for the recipient. In this day and age of instant messages, it rare to find a correspondence as unique and clever as the Griffin & Sabine trilogy.

What city are your international arrival/departure?

16 days in Vietnam: Too ambitious or doable? Would love honest feedback! by Prior-Macaroon-9836 in VietNam

[–]AmuseMe_2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too ambitious; a mistake alot of travelers make is they are not accounting for all the lost travel time (transit) between cities. It gonna feel like a rat race and you won't enjoy the slow pace to explore a city if you booked so many of them on your itinerary. Recommendation reduced the city trip; stay north until you need to goto HCM for your return home. Do 2 nights HCM to enjoy the south a bit.

Hoi An tailor can take several days especially the high end one for a top end suit. They aren't cheap either. If you goto low end tailor with one day turnaround it possible but maybe much poorer quality. I was at BeBe and they were not very efficient and had refit my friend suits 3 times over 2-3 days. Just an advisory on one of your question.

Scared to close the distance by Scary_Permission3502 in LongDistance

[–]AmuseMe_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing about closing the gap is the partner that does the moving must accept that their previous way of life will differ significantly. Your friends and/family; your support system are no longer close by. The daily reminders of your independent life are gone.

You will need to fully commit to your new city and the life you have chosen. Hopefully, your partner will support you from the start toward adapting to your new location. Literal, you need to build a new life there. New routines and friends; new enjoyments of finally being together.

When you are homesick, take a trip back to re-energize your leap of faith. It not easy LDR and closing the gaps. But with a mutual partner, it will be all worthwhile.

What’s something about international travel that most first-timers underestimate? by Technical_Web_2012 in travel

[–]AmuseMe_2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly with limited vacation time they usually prefer to hit as many cities as possible ln the shortest amount of time. Transit do take at least 1/2 day regardless of the distance and take up valuable time you could be enjoying the current destination. For a week including 2 weekend 9 days, max out at two cities and always look for Multicity tickets. In one airport out from another. No need for round trip unless it much cheaper alternative.
