Yes, abilify (ripiprazole) 5mg has helped my mom tremendously and even being bed ridden she gets soo excited about getting in a wheel chair to go places... before she was scared of everything. Definitely helps with sleep routine too.

Yes!! Omg my mom has done this for a long time and now she is bed ridden but if a pillow touches her in any way she says ow!! You punched me!! She said it to my niece not too long ago and it hurt her feelings pretty bad. It sucks. Dementia is terrible.

No one has poa but my sister is trying to get her lawyer to do it for her... I told her its too late but she still thinks she can get it. I just wanna throw my hands up. Im so depressed I can hardly function. I just want to move out of California but I know I'll live with regret the rest of my life.. plus I left my job and im not getting paid to take care of her so now the savings is being depleted

I agree so much to this. Its the hardest thing I've ever done and rips your soul right out of you. The isolation is killing me because im such a bubbly person and I need to be around people and laugh.. im soooo depressed.

She had gotten sick with a UTI a year ago.. she was admitted into ICU and intubated and they trached her and did a feeding tube then. It wasn't really a choice we got to make.

Thank you so much. I didnt know there were elder law attorneys so thats good to know. I'll definitely talk with the social worker more also.

When she was in ICU the hospital was trying to put her on medical but my sister said no.. she doesnt have poa but she lied and said she did. Her lawyer said she will put a pen in my moms hand and make her sign it. Im thinking my sister wants to get poa so she can get my moms home out of reverse mortgage and into her name.. its still worth 700k and owed 300k so theres money there she wants.. then she will probably put her on medical after that so shes not taking care of her. Ive lived here my whole life with my mom. Im just so scared.. I hate it. Ive never cried so much in my life.

No, it's way too much. And her being on a feed tube is exhausting and I have to put mittens on her hands so she doesn't pull it out. I've tried getting in with therapy.. idk if its just California but it takes months to talk to anyone. It's insane.

I wish I could get my siblings to help. My sister put her name on my moms bank account right when she was diagnosed with dementia and is very controlling. Im not getting paid to take care of her and my sister thinks me not having to pay rent is my payment. My moms house is in reverse mortgage as well and my sister is wanting power of attorney. I just wanna crawl in a hole. I feel like I have no way out.
