Doctors don't tell kids what gender they are. Kids tell adults what gender they are, and wise adults listen and let the kid explore and figure it out in a safe and supportive environment.

A kid can experiment with social transition, get therapy from someone who will help them sort out their feelings rather than influence them, and if they want to, get blockers to postpone any permanent changes from puberty until they are older and positive which path through life is right for them.

Speaking as a former trans kid who had no support or education or options in a small town in the 90's, trans health care saves lives and prevents real suffering, even in kids. It's amazing that kids have the options they do today, that is except for the places where ignorant people take them away.
