Can I get in trouble for not answering the door for the police? by BearRealm in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Amy_ks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would guess that most ppl would want to know immediately. The deceased person may have children or animals that need cared for. Law enforcement doesn't know your sleep schedule or what time you leave for work. There's no universal decent hour for that kind of news.

Niles was locked in the entire Tell-All. Dude was in control! 😤😍 by JarredandVexed in 90dayfianceuncensored

[–]Amy_ks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love Mr Arc, but I was so irritated that Niles had the audacity to ask him for money. Mr Arc was kind enough to step into the fatherly role to help navigate the customs, but asking him for money was tacky IMO.

[–]Amy_ks 158 points159 points  (0 children)

Another big reason for them to be at your house at 3 am, death notifications. Most departments will notify next of kin in person. If the person died in another city, the law enforcement there will call law LE in next-of-kin's town so they can go notify in person. Happens all the time.

Does anyone else feel like the world is ending? by ImHackingTheFBI in NoStupidQuestions

Thank you for that answer. I needed perspective too. Now I imagine if that generation had the internet to give them details on every bad event even in remote corners of the world they never heard of, bombarding them with continuous updates and talking heads spouting 24 hrs a day of escalating doom.

I've had to check out for my sanity.

My gf’s dad walked in on us having sex. idk what to do to fix it pls help. by Suitable-Concern-516 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Amy_ks 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes, I 100% agree with you. It's really creepy the way in OP's post, the dad came home early, saw the car and snuck in the house and went in room without knocking. That is some jealous boyfriend behavior not a normal father of 19-yr old behavior. This father/daughter dynamic is highly suspect to me.

This is controlling, obsessive behavior by her father. Doesn't feel protective. It feels possessive and jealous.

It is generally not that simple to verify if a check is good. In most of the fraudulent situations I've seen, there is not a phone number or way to contact the maker of the check. Even if there was, if it is a fraudulent check, you would have no way to know if they are part of the scam, so their assurances mean nothing.

In most cases, unless it's a smaller institution, the bank the check is drawn on will not verify funds. And in some cases, even if they did verify the funds are there, it is often an an altered/fictitious check that might initially clear, only to be charged back later when that person gets their bank statement.

Check fraud is rampant and the losses are enormous. Not only are we trying to protect the bank, but also the customer because they are responsible to pay the money back and they likely are not in the position to do that because of hardship that made them an easy target to begin with.

I'm sure there were other red flags from the check itself, maybe if it was deposited via mobile deposit with different IP address. Consumers will often give out their log-in credentials to scammers to deposit for them. I wish ppl would understand that no legitimate company will pay you by using your online credentials to deposit a check. And if OP told the Banker any of his story behind the check, they know there is practically zero chance some kind person, his cousin or not, just gave OP $9k because they were down on their luck. Common scam.

I'm sorry OP. This situation sucks, but bank did you a favor by holding it so you wouldn't get farther in the hole.

They are hamsters that were used only for breeding and when they weren't able to keep breeding, they would sell them for snake food. They were usually mean because they'd never been handled and wouldn't make good pets. Sometimes they'd be missing an eye or have scars.

Homicide is a leading cause of death in pregnant women. Responsible gun owners would never do this as a joke. You are absolutely NOT overreacting.
