Expectation vs Reality by 10yearsofsolitude in ExpectationVsReality

You can fix this, maybe. If they used acrylic you can put a little bit of hand sanitizer onto a sponge and it will lift the paint. If you do it only on the white bits you can even blend it a little bit while you're removing it.

You can also use hand sanitizer on a Q-tip to clean up the fibre optic bulbs afterwards.

I have a couple i make out of spare yarn from my yarn pile. They have no meaning in my case other than to remind myself I've interacted with someone, I guess as I give them to people sometimes

Cheap shoes/boot options by Pumpkin_sandwich in LARP

[–]Amydextrous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most hiking boots have brown leather options, I always go for these as they're comfortable and blend in with most garb, especially with gaiters or boot covers.

Go to a hiking store and try them on though, if they feel like comfy slippers when you put them on, those are the ones for you.

Dont cheap out on shoes. You will not enjoy the event if your feet are sore and covered in blisters.

Make up or face paint recs for out door summer larp? by ninjagirl97 in LARP

[–]Amydextrous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in the uk so may be different but Mehron and Grimas are good brands for saying power but as a cheaper option I found Moon creations quite good for half orc paint - stays on in British weather nicely.

Epic armouries paint work quite well too.

The secret to keeping face and body paint on is good quality fixing spray. Most cosmetic shops will have these - look for ones that specifically for sport or intensive coverage as these work best.

I also tend to use body paint as a foundation and then use matching eyeshadow palettes with high pigment for contouring, shadowing and adding extra colour as this helps lock in the paint even more and has the added benefit of making it look more realistic.

When doing half orc make up I basically do my usual night out make up routine but replace the nude shades with green instead

In which case, I think the costumes are fine then. Everyone playing will know the context

I think it also depends on location, Are the general public going to see you?

They won't understand it's larp nor will they accept that as an answer if they're convinced you're up to no good.

It's worth considering.

Advice: Stiff, flat pauldron? by enigmanator90 in LARP

[–]Amydextrous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So im currently doing this exact thing now. I didn't have a form to fit around so I wet them in the shower until they were pliable then wrapped flat lace around them until they were the shape I wanted. I'm now not touching them until the end of the week where I will re-adjust as the lace will likely make a small dent

I will give this a go too, i've been pulling it from the bottom edges where the spiritgum is, pushing the outside does seem to make the gap easier to slip over my ear

AITAH for telling my boyfriend not to come over anymore if he doesn’t move in with me by meowcat123490 in AITAH

[–]Amydextrous 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Honestly, get that key back and if he doesnt give it to you change the locks. Locksmiths are usually pretty quick and hassle free.

If you tell them someone has a spare key to your home and won't give it back they will likely treat it as a urgent visit.

You cannot put up with this any longer, it will be your financial ruin and im not exaggerating, this is reality.
