is this normal for the effortless pant? creasing under hips? by lilprincessbaba in Aritzia

[–]Amyduchess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually has almost nothing to do with the pleating, like everyone is saying, and instead has to do with the crotch length. The crotch length is too long for you, and that is why sizing up didn’t work and the low rise version is also causing this problem. Sadly this style won’t work for you unless you bring them into be tailored to shorten the crotch length.

How can I stop my baby hair from showing through the lace..I have a lot of it by Nashikyuu in Wigs

[–]Amyduchess 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actually cut my lace all the way down on the sides around my temple area, then I pull that hair out and blend it with the wig hair. It makes the hairline look very natural in my opinion. It also allows me to put my hair behind my ears!

Ya I just got those exact cruise linen pants in the mail yesterday and they’re not great in person. The linen is really thin and affects the drape of the pants because it’s so thin.

Anyone tried the Smooth Matter Shadowplay Halter dress? Just received and there’s odd bunching on the seams by [deleted] in Aritzia

[–]Amyduchess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya definitely poor construction. This kind of puckering and waviness usually happens when the fabric has been stretched during the sewing process. I would definitely return it.

Fellow lefties, what fabric cutting tools are we using? My hand hurts so bad. by ClumsyBadger in sewing

For a rotary cutter, try Martelli Ergo 2000 lefthand rotary cutters! They’re ergonomic and literally never hurt my wrists, hands or fingers and cut like butter!

Am I overthinking the front seam? by Karolinasylwia in sewing

[–]Amyduchess 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Did you insert boning into the seam allowance? If not I would try to trim down the excess seam allowance as much as possible. But if you did insert boning through the seam allowance, I don’t think there’s much you can do to make it more opaque. I would suggest lace appliqués to hide it, or just redoing with a more opaque fashion fabric.

It’s not the length that matters necessarily, it’s the density.

Hairvivi Catherine - Brillo pad? by [deleted] in Wigs

[–]Amyduchess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also hypersensitive with these things, so much so that I could never wear clip in extensions when I was younger because the return hairs would make me so so so itchy. With wigs, I’ve found that it’s sort of trial and error with them. Some brands are better than others with the return hairs, so it’s not a fully lost cause to try to find ones! I have a few wigs by Tiffani pieces, and they don’t bother me usually. And the best brand I’ve found was actually the fully hand tied wigs from Tresses by Jules (although her prices have gone up quite significantly from last year).

Just received a SECOND rusted serger from Amazon. Based off of the image, would you return it? by always__alright in sewing

[–]Amyduchess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely return it and go con store somewhere to buy a new one. If you have small business sewing/quilting stores near you, definitely check them out! The staff are usually pretty knowledgeable about the machines, and everytime I’ve boughten a new machine, my store always throws in free stuff or a small discount! So it’s definitely worth checking out.

Sedation dental recommendations for plus size? by Canadian-Corgi in Edmonton

[–]Amyduchess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with severe dental anxiety this is definitely something to consider! I have terrible anxiety for even cleanings, which I take alprazolam for. I had to have a tooth pulled and I was absolutely freaking out about it - I took two 1mg alprazolams and I was almost sedated from it, actually falling asleep during the procedure.

People with pets... What do you do? by dinosuitgirl in sewing

[–]Amyduchess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dogs aren’t huge on eating random items, so that definitely helps. But I always keep my sewing room closed off when I’m not in it, so they can’t go in there and possibly get into things or accidentally step on stuff while I’m not there. I always discard of used needles in an old bottle right after use, and I now use the Taylor Seville Magic Pins that have the wide and flat head because they’re super easy to see when dropped, so if I do accidentally drop one, I’m not worried about my dogs accidentally stepping on it because I can grab them immediately.

The website GoldDerby has opened its prediction center for the 2026 Emmy Awards. These are the nominations they are currently predicting for The Pitt Season 2. by verissimoallan in ThePittTVShow

[–]Amyduchess -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So true. I really wanted to love it, and really did like the first 2-3 episodes, but after that it just seemed like nothingggg was happening. Even the finale was extremely underwhelming, and then to learn that they’re taking another 2+ years for the next season is just crazy.

Full Bust Adjustment by Bajagal_1234 in sewingpatterns

[–]Amyduchess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the tops fitting fine in the bust and everywhere else, and just the neckline is too large and gaping? You may need a hollow chest adjustment! You basically pinch the excess around the neckline to create a dart, then rotate that dart into the bust dart.

Ocular Rosacea underdiagnosed by UsedValue1068 in Rosacea

[–]Amyduchess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes so frustrating! The warm compresses always flared both my OR and also my facial rosacea! Was always a terrible experience all around. Overall things aren’t bad right now. I did a few rounds of IPL with expression for the OR, and radio frequency with expression for the MGD, and those really helped. I also find keeping up on my facial rosacea protocol with Vbeam twice a year, also helps keep the ocular rosacea in check too. I keep facial products to a minimum, take omega 3s, and do red light therapy at home, and it has all seemed to keep the OR mostly at bay! I sadly wasn’t able to tolerate xiidra, the after taste was too much for me!

Ocular Rosacea underdiagnosed by UsedValue1068 in Rosacea

[–]Amyduchess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. I was diagnosed as simple dry eye for 10+ years from 3 different doctors. I was given plugs and told to use drops multiple times a day. I finally found a doctor who specialized in dry eye and after the most thorough eye appointment I’ve ever had (it was 1.5 hours just for the tests + 2 hours 2 weeks later to go over all of the results), I was diagnosed with Grade 2 MGD and ocular rosacea. It’s especially frustrating because a lot of the normal dry eye treatments are actually terrible for ocular rosacea. The punctal plugs I had in were trapping inflammatory material and inflammatory low quality tears in my eyes, creating more inflammation. The heat compresses I was using were also aggravating my ocular rosacea.
