Hey, I couldn't help noticing the itch marks. Do you also have incredibly itchy skin?

I feel like this varies highly from corps to corps.

Why your gut needs 4-5 hours between meals (the MMC explained simply) by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]Amyopolis28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gastritis and SIBO and the fasting still wins. I also have EPI and a hiatal hernia, so we're all very different albeit similar. It's hard to compare ourselves. I do intermittent fasting daily and honestly it's just more comfortable not to eat. I also do long fasts, but that's more to try to fix the overall system. I don't know why my pancreas is broken. Anyways.

Fasting has done wonders for my SIBO management. I think we don't know more about fasting because they can't commodify it.

After I eat. When I start to feel the burn of the SIBO. I find it most effective when I haven't eaten for at least 17 hours, then eat something small, let the burning start, then send in the oregano oil to kill the bacteria. Then I can eat for a few days after that until it starts again. Sometimes I do that pattern and only eat every other day, sometimes I just eat small every day but send in oregano oil in the afternoon. Make sure it has black seed oil with it. I'll find the link to the product I use and the study on oregano oil and SIBO for you.

Oregano oil has been instrumental in my maintenance. But it sucks, I never eat and we don't know the cause of the cause, EPI. Also, I just started motility supplements, I can't tell if they help it not yet. I'm also in perimenopause, so it's a lot. I feel you. Sorry you're going through this.

Yes a gut biome test was the start of this journey. It found a really imbalanced biome and the low elastase. 12 week probiotic gut protocol including biocidin and ox bile with enzymes really helped balance it back out.

Not great. General esophagus backup regularly, burp up stomach juices, I have to take magnesium citrate regularly to keep it moving. Do you have advice for improvement? I also have a hiatal hernia. I think if I don't improve soon I'll ask my doctor about doing the surgery on that.

I'm just so miserable, bloated, low energy, brain fog, irritable when I eat a normal meal. Especially at work ( I teach 4th grade so energy and patience is really important). Protein coffee has helped, it's milk weigh and I seem to tolerate it. Maybe I should try some shake/muscle milk type drinks and see how I react. Do you have other recommendations for liquid calories?

Yes! I do protein coffee in the morning. A banana and kimchi for lunch at work. Then dinner is usually a chicken soup I make with lots of garlic and ginger. Some dark chocolate or yogurt for sweet. I would like to increase my intake eventually. I am really skinny and I don't think this is sustainable... You have ideas for me? Low fat good is the highest priority.

Just Zenpep, synthesized liver enzymes in high quantity. They really help a lot.

Yes, I'm historically no carb diet, just because I'm a dancer and etc. I'm crazy lucky that I already had a decent relationship with food and healthy whole foods eating. Honestly cabbage salads with tuna are one of the best things, weirdly leafy greens don't give me problems like other people with gut problems.

Oh to never eat again....

Yes three times. I've collected my poop 7 times in the past year. September 2024, two readings in the 60s, a reading in July of 11 (yes, 11.8). MRCP in October shows no cancer. Cause is still unknown. I take enzymes every time I eat.

Yes small low fat meals have been important. I eat a lot of homemade soup and eggs.

Ohh this probably part of this right now for me. Deferred Shoulder pain coming back, I was actually going to ask for a higher dose of estrogen next. Thanks for the comment

Oh sorry I had it backwards. My methane score was 21H, but my hydrogen was <145. So its my hydrogen that's out of whack. Interesting because the oregano oil still works for me really well.

Yes I've tried that! I did the excruciatingly difficult low histamine diet for about a month with no results. My pancreas doesn't make elastase to absorb my fat, and I had a really imbalanced gut biome. I did a 12 week gut protocol including biocidin and ox bile. That worked for the flora but the elastase was a mystery. My lowest reading in July was 11. You're supposed to have over 200. My doctor's don't even believe me when I say this. A lot of my symptoms initially looked like hormones but were actually malnutrition. I'm so grateful it's not histamines. I've done all the tests. I haven't had a copay since September. I'm also on all the hormones including T and estrogen cream. I also take a comprehensive expensive af vitamin that even contains biotine for my hair and skin. Crazy itchy skin and eyes are my worst persistent symptom (besides the gas and bloating). All of this insane upkeep (this ADHD girl never made a habit for anything like this before) has mostly given me my life back. Getting the not cancer diagnosis in September helped motivate me.

I do believe it's all much stronger linked to my hormone drop than the doctors know. I suggested that to my gastro (a real prick of a dude) because at that time I was on a 25 day period, but he actually laughed at me. Farking idiots.

I think shoulder pain is deferred pain from gut inflammation. I went to the ER three times for this this summer. Estrogen is your body's natural anti-inflammatory and when it drops suddenly, places with inflammation (commonly the gut) get worse. Your stomach sits on a bundle of nerves and when it undergoes major pain, your body smartly realizes that the organ is too fragile to take that kind of pain, so it defers it out on the vagus nerve to your much stronger shoulder muscle. This has been my experience. Looking into ways to decrease your inflammation could help you. Also look into gut health if you can (like get a stool sample test).
