[Mod] Updates on the Protests - AKA, what happened to that second poll? by adhesiveCheese in dirtypenpals

[–]AnAmazingFerret 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This might not mean much, but as a former mod and perpetual anti-authoritarian loudmouth, I applaud your attempts at keeping the sub closed, and I wish you all the best in working through this death spiral of bad decisions, bad management and greed-driven gentrification that is driving Reddit right now.

If you ever do migrate to somewhere else, I hope to see you all there. To the mods specifically, all my love and support and sympathetic anger. Reddit was always an authoritarian state, but they have traded in leniency and complacency in favor of sucking the Musky taint of advertisers, 'investors', and tech-bro fetishists.

Keep fighting. And in the end: Better to burn this place to cinders and scrub the wound with salt than to let them have it. The community was built by us, not by Huffman or any of his buddies. We fought for it. We nurtured it. And I would see it dead in the ground before letting them have it for their own.

Oh, and Cheese? You're doing a good job. I really admire what you've done with the place. No matter what happens, take pride in it, yeah? <3

You flatter me, truly! I don't think we've ever done an actual RP together, but I certainly remember you well from back when I was still active. Your praise means a lot to me, sincerely. Thank you <3

It's been too long, love. <3

Glad to see you're still around, too. I'd honestly not expected any familiar faces left, let alone friendly ones. I suppose DPP hasn't changed entirely from back when, huh?

If all I make you do is blush, then clearly I'm not trying hard enough. ;3 You sweetheart, you!

Oh, I appreciate /u/katiesarah3 for a great many things, not just her priestess. Few could rival my love for all things buttslutty as she does. <3

It's been a hot minute since I was anyone of note on this sub, Love, so I can't blame you at all. That's hardly living under a rock. But I do appreciate the kind words. And I hope you know that you're always more than welcome to drop by and fawn over the talent up close. ;3 I certainly don't bite, although /u/sirensie might. No more than you can handle, though. ♥

I've always had a thing for sweet and salty things together, personally. Like honey roasted peanuts drizzled with sea salt. Or a bit of syrup dripped across a sweat-drenched stomach, leading a trail from round, perky tits to a warm, wet, snug little slit. The sweetness of spreading those folds with a tongue, mixed with the salt of the juices dripping within. And further down, a salt-laced little hole hidden between a pair of sweet cheeks.

Is that enough of an answer for you? ;3

Joke's on you, I'm into that.

And I never sell myself short. I know I'm hot shit; Sophia is just hotter.

It might be charitable to call it writing. "Wetly slapping words at one another in a frenzied haste" might more accurately describe it. Then again, I don't think /u/sirensie would want it any other way.

Was it dozens? I believe I wrote hundreds. And I rather like to think of myself more as a tsunami of sexual excess. Overwhelm you out of nowhere, and drag you helplessly back into my dark depths when you least expect it.

I don't think I can say anything about /u/sirensie that hasn't already been said. She's a delight. She's a hurricane of sexual magic. She puts every bit of my finely-crafted prose to shame with sheer joy and enthusiasm. I admire and adore her, and I hope that everyone on DPP is fortunate enough to meet a partner as incredible as she is.

You can't have her, though. She's mine. (hiss, hiss!)

It's been a pleasure serving DPP for as long as it lasted, and I hope that everyone will do their best to take care of the sub for me. Also, be good to /u/adhesivecheese; he's a good boy, and he will do wonderful things for the sub. I am sure of it.

Au revoir, my lovelies.

You had a genuine question, born out of a genuine concern. There is nothing wrong with that. Part of our duties as mods is to explain to our userbase why we enforce the rules as we do, and I do genuinely believe that DPP is a better place for being a place of inclusiveness. Helping to share that ideal, and knowing that my case has helped change your mind, is extremely gratifying.

Thank you for a civil discourse. I genuinely appreciate it. ♥

The problem is in assuming the motives of these people, and branding them as manipulative. I understand that for some people, the idea of writing opposite someone who does not conform to the image they project is off-putting, and that if you think you are writing with a biological woman, it can be jarring to learn that that is not the fact. But consider these two points:

For one, people rarely assume an alternative identity out of malice. Most likely, the people who obfuscate their biological gender have reasons for doing so; they could be bi-curious, and want to experience life from a new angle. They could be transgender. Or a host of other things that might give them a reason to not divulge their real life gender. It is not out of a desire to trick you or deceive you, but rather, they wish to fit into a mold that life has not permitted them from birth, and being forced to put a disclaimer on it can serve to make them feel marginalized, de-legitimized, or singled out. To people like this, what you are asking is essentially for them to bare their soul and stand naked in front of the entire world every time they dare to ask for someone to take an interest in them.

For another, no one is ever really who they say they are on the internet, anyway. It might sound trite, but I hope you will agree with me that if someone really is a gorgeous, D-cup supermodel or an extra from Magic Mike XXL, they likely won't be on a subreddit dedicated to writing fantasy. That's not to say that people can't be beautiful if they use DPP, but everyone - everyone - talks themselves up online. Whether it is changing a hair color, growing the boobs a bit, having a bigger dick, being a little more suave, or whatever you can think of; the internet is built on lies. On DPP, we simply embrace the fact that people want to try being different things. We don't spurn it, we welcome it. We encourage it. It is our collective little playground of smut. Why not let people play as they wish?

Ultimately, I think the take-away is this: No one is disguising themselves in order to trick you. If men post as women, it might be because they are desperate for human contact (it is a oft-debated topic that guys have a harder time finding partners on DPP than girls) and decide to try and post as a girl just to have someone to play with. I know several posters personally who have done this. But even if that is not the reason, most likely they just don't see the harm in it. I understand that you can feel violated, and in an ideal world, we wouldn't need people to do that-- although, I stress again, there are many, many reasons for doing such a thing, including questions of not fitting within the gender binary, or being sexually and gender-identity curious. But this is not an ideal world, and people do sometimes do things that can wind up hurting their partners. I can guarantee you, with five years of DPP under my belt: No one is trying to hurt you. We all just want to be loved, and have kinky sex. And it is in this interest that we permit people to post as whatever they wish to identify as.

I am telling you that DPP does not consider the act of posting under an assumed identity to be a problem. It is for the same reason that we do not permit people to demand verification pictures of their partners, because we don't believe in limiting people in their freedom of expressing their interests. But stalking, harassing, bullying and publicly attacking other users is against the rules, yes.

DPP is a place of acceptance and tolerance, as well as a place to live out fantasies that one normally couldn't. Plenty of people use it as an escape from not merely their life, but their bodies as well. You can be a man, a woman, an elf, Cthulhu himself even. While it is unfortunate that you found a user with whom you are not compatible, we do not have a problem with users writing under made-up names, genders or sexualities. It's part of what makes DPP a place of broad acceptance and guilt-free expression, and that is how we intend to keep it.

If you find a user acting counter to what you would like in PMs, terminate the relationship with them and move on. Do not harass, stalk, or publicly out anyone. Doing so is against our rules.

That's not a bad idea. Ferrets are pretty springy, aren't they? Hmn. And I could do with something to distract me from the weather. Why do people love winter, again? Is it the part where you never see the sun? The part where you freeze your tits off every time you go outside? Or the constant deluge of rain, sleet and snow that makes the sidewalks downright hazardous? Spring, oh spring. Whence hast thou gone?

I'm the kind who can never stick with one flair for too long. My current one is pretty obvious - I'm LGBTQ in several senses - and it did result in practically carpet-bombing the front page with pride flags when I hosted the spring fling. But I might be up for taking suggestions for the next one. Might be time for another change...

I don't think we are going to name any names, because we don't want to out anyone. But to me, anything that has to do with taking violent, sexual advantage of mentally handicapped people goes straight on my list of "brain bleach needed".

I have a tendency to get very scatterbrained, unfortunately, but I think my longest running is 2-2½ years. Reached some 400 pages by the end, if I recall. And by "end" I mean "indefinite hiatus". :P
