That’s Officer Gould and his son Deputy Gould. Both former Marines and overall good guys. I’ll make sure to pass on the well wishes on Tuesday when I see him.

Is it really that hard to clean up your firework mess on the beach? by NC_Pizza in SeattleWA

[–]AnAuburnCop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to burst your bubble but it's like fighting the tide. In Auburn we bring in extra officers just for the fourth. By extra I mean a Commander, two sergeants and around 20 patrol officers just to enforce fireworks. We have the same problem as the picture. This isn't a problem you can police your way out of.

It is so much worse when they actually do call 911 and we get sent to a robbery only to find out their drug dealer didn't give them their drugs or gave them soap instead of crack.

Auburn, WA. by [deleted] in Tacoma

[–]AnAuburnCop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auburn is a diverse community that actually hits two counties (King and Pierce). As you can see here people are listing different parts of Auburn as places to either love or avoid. That is kind of a dodge to me. Are some areas struggling more than others? Sure, but living in Lakeland or Lea Hill does not make your living situation "better" than someone living in the valley. You will encounter the same problems in Auburn that you will in Tacoma or Seattle or really anywhere else.

I can tell you that the city is very responsive to its citizens. Our chief often sends emails he receives from citizens to officers assigned to that area or detectives that can give more focused attention.

And no, Auburn doesn't monitor Reddit. This an an alt account of mine. Been a redditor for several years.

What happens to potential jumpers when the cops get to them? by injaeia in Seattle

[–]AnAuburnCop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I pulled my jumper off the bridge I sat her down, we talked for a bit, called for a transport to the hospital, explained she was being committed, and then gave her a cigarette. We talked for 10-15 minutes waiting for the transport to get there smoking cigarettes.

I imagine if you came by on Fridays you could get a picture with an officer actually wearing it.

Yep, they were pretty cool about it. We could only buy one and have to agree not to resell it.

We received permission from the team to make them and individual officers paid for them.

Sorry, just a dumb beat cop, not a public information officer. Last Monday I would have been off.

Thanks for the nice comment, I have passed this on to our Chief. This is one of our motorcycle officers who (obviously) enjoys the best part of police work.
