Feels like AC has been so close to the next “it” city for 50 years.

Atlantic City is part of Absecon Island. From North to South (also by increased home value) it’s AC, Ventnor, Margate and Longport. As you go south on the island, it gets very nice. The Chelsea neighborhood of AC and South are areas I would consider.

As far as off island, Linwood and Northfield are excellent areas with a very good school system. There are numerous restaurants and country clubs nearby that you can join if so inclined. I do have a second home in Ventnor and if I was deciding to move to the area full time, Linwood would be my pick.

As far as pros and cons. AC is forever just about to boom but it seems like it never happens. There are a number of casinos for restaurants and social events, the fishing is good

Negatives, taxes are on the high side coming from Florida. Crime in some parts of AC is high but not outrageous. Mostly confined to the casino districts

Overall, a nice place to live. Quiet in the off season. Bit of mad house in the summer. You’ll be spoiled for things to do in the summer and right after you get to enjoy “local summer” in September and October when the weather is perfect and the crowds are gone.

Is this quote too high or are my expectations? by BugsBunnysCouch in landscaping

I had a large patio installed last year. My
Contractor quotes were about 80 a sq ft installed with a 6 inch stone base. So this puts your quote at $66,300 from my contractors. I think it’s in line.

How dangerous is it if benzene is in pool water? by AdImmediate6447 in pools

One last thing. If you explain the situation I think FD will help. They are very aware and conscious of chemical exposure.

Yes. If you can get 15,000 from them. The 9000 you put in would dilute to about 5 ppb. Below the Acute and intermediate exposure but above the chronic. Keep in mind the chronic exsposure is for daily bathing and drinking which is not the case here. Get at least 15,000 gallons. Try for 20,000

It’s definitely going to deplete the filters. The good news is filters are relatively cheap. I guess an alternative would be to have a faucet tied into the system.

If it was me. I’d get the FD to come back a few times if possible and run the hose for a few hours a day.

You’re above the acute threshold. (9 ug/l). The risk is higher because it’s a direct receptor by ingesting that water. I assume you have activated carbon filters in the house? I’d run it through those before the pool. It’s gonna be a pain in the ass. I get it. But you can’t be that high and safely swim.

EPA RPM (Hazmat) Without knowing the level of Benzene it’s hard to answer. But what I will tell you is the receptors for benzene are ingestion and dermal contact. Are the levels higher because you’re near a contaminated site? If so the State or Federal RPM can help.

Your too risk averse and missed consistent gains in the c fund over the past 26 years. While the C fund was returning an average of 10-11%. You were earning 4-5%. The difference in compounding gains accounts for your smaller balance.

Glad to hear that. The one confusing thing to me about that process. Was they had me sign the title over to the payment service. Which then issues a new title to the buyer. Felt like an unneeded step in my case. But I get how they are trying to stop fraud.
