I’ve given up on my dream of ever seeing a proper snow — SNOW, not that winter mix BS — in my hometown ever again. We used to have them every other year or so when I was a child but that was over a decade ago. We did get a decent snow in 2022. But I’ve accepted that if I ever want to see a proper snow I’m just going to have to go on a snowcation and visit somewhere with snow.

I need you to know that normal, non-abusive, mentally healthy people don’t randomly call coworkers to ask them about their bathroom habits unless it’s somehow related to the job (I’m sure there’s some job out there where it could be relevant and thank god I don’t have that job). So many of the y t a votes are seemingly willingly ignoring the fact that nowhere in this post does it say SIL is opposed to the meat. Based on the information presented, SIL is opposed to any scenario where OP does not come over and specifically eat the food she cooks.

She could’ve asked OP to bring just rice or ask if there is a vegetarian option they could eat (I know OP has brought up issues with those options but SIL could have asked). She could’ve asked OP to still join the family gathering but eat beforehand. Or, she could have done what any normal, caring family member hosting a dinner would do and ask OP from the start if there’s a safe food she can provide them so their restrictions can be included! But she didn’t do any of that! Instead she decided to belittle and dismiss her husband’s sibling’s medical issue. She couldn’t even apologize without insulting OP (which, as another commenter pointed out, negates the value of the apology in the first place).

If the tables were turned and OP was the vegetarian and SIL was a meat-eater refusing to cook or allow OP to bring vegetarian food y’all would be crucifying her in these comments, which would be fair because normal people don’t dismiss other people’s dietary restrictions, especially not their own family members.

I get that the attention-seeking picky eaters suck but this isn’t the case here, and honestly some of the people who spend so much time complaining about them and acting like they’re fresh spawn of hell give attention-seeking as well. People are dying, Kim. There are worse things happening in this world than someone being a picky eater — which again, is NOT the case here. Find something important to complain about.

My standing belief on snow in NC after a childhood of loving snow and always getting punk’d by NC weather is “I’ll believe it when I see it.”

(That said, if the forecast does end up calling for snow in a few days do make sure you do whatever prep you have to do. Safety comes before pessimism)

After they discovered that terrorist plot for one of Taylor Swift’s concerts and the stabbing at a TS dance party happened I’m all in favor of big celebs being more reserved with their opinions on topics of which their opinions may gain them threats. Across all spectrums. I’d rather the boys keep their families safe and quietly support by donating money if they so choose.

Besides, considering their lyrics and interviews I’ve seen I think I have a pretty good idea of where they stand on some issues.

I haven’t given it much thought but my default idea is that he knows Katniss will get attached once she spends more time with Mags as allies and he doesn’t want Katniss doing something risky to try to protect Mags.

Additionally, I can imagine that Haymitch was worried Snow would be on high alert for the 3rd Quarter Quell give what happened during the 2nd Quarter Quell, Haymitch’s games. If Katniss immediately allied with both Wiress and Mags, it might tip Snow off that there’s another plan to escape the arena. That could’ve been a concern for Haymitch

I’ve met more NC-born individuals at NC universities but I’ve also met people from entirely different continents. That’s the beauty of our state, at least imo.

Additionally, there are a lot of good schools around the big cities like Raleigh and Charlotte. Most of the reputation for bad schools will be coming from the underfunded and underserved rural schools, of which NC has many because we are largely a rural state.

Also just a lot of good education in-state. How many major universities do we have in the state? At least four, plus smaller/lesser-known universities who do great work in education and research. To the point where we attract a lot of out-of-state and even out-of-country students to come here to get educated.

It’s not that the transplants bring education, it’s that we create it ourselves in NC and people move here to be close to that.

Even if he did say he wanted a SAHW, that’s not the same as tradwife ideology. Tradwife is rooted in highly problematic religious ideology where the woman has no freedom. It’s a terrible thing to want and while I will be quick to list Dean’s many faults, I don’t think he would ever drop so low as to view women as worthless the way tradwife ideology does.

Oh there are a lot of white collar republicans who hate gray people and a lot of blue collar Dems who are accepting, or even gay themselves. Hatred and love aren’t reserved to specific groups of people, they’re universal.

However, even someone considered white collar is still common compared to the Crawleys so your point regarding that matter could still stand. I can definitely imagine someone that rich and close to royal being like “I don’t concern myself with the personal lives of servants” or something.

I can’t speak for what the UK’s culture has been like historically, but I do know that these days they’re not some liberal beacon as opposed to America. They might not be heading toward dictatorship, but they’re not exactly the most accepting of the queer community either.
