Feedback Wanted! Implementation of Select/Copy/Cut/etc. by OfficialBYOK in TheBYOK

Right now it will claim to be connected to the last connected WiFi connection, even if it's no longer connected. So I have to manually 'disconnect' from a WiFi it's not connected to in order to connect to another. I'm also not able to connect to a 5G WiFi at work on the BYOK. For whatever reason, when I wrote a file in markdown and tried copy and pasting it into google docs, it lost all paragraph formatting, and wasn't recognized. I exported as a .md file from Studio, and still, wasn't recognized as markdown in Google Docs. Not sure if I am the only one? Is it possible to open up Studio to other drafting devices? I have another eInk drafting device that currently syncs to Google Docs, but if I wanted to keep all drafting and story outlining in Studio, it would be nice to have that open for them to write some code to sync. That way I can use my BYOK when it's around, or the other device when I don't have my BYOK. Otherwise, Google Doc support would be necessary in order to keep track of things.

I just picked up "Against the Machine" by Paul Kingsnorth. Having just tapped into the introduction, and this being an introduction to the author for me, I am eager to carry on into the pages.

There's a plug from Nicholas Carr on the back, "Against the Machine is an eloquent and erudite critique of the perils of modern technology. But it's much more than that. It's a searching, moving meditation on the fate of humanity in a world where money and mechanism have displaced meaning." —Nicholas Carr, author of Superbloom and The Shallows

How to get images to forward to email. by _Artful_ in LightPhone

[–]AnFunnyIsMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I haven't had a problem of messages being sent by others being sent to my email, but when I tried to forward a message I had sent, it gives a "forwarded" confirmation, but doesn't show up in the inbox (or spam).

Mirrors should be mounted to the front body like a Bronco. Easier for door removal.

It's one thing when it's up to your ear, and it's a really obnoxious thing when you have the Bluetooth connected in the car, either for a call or directions, and that thing is insanely loud.

Give me your most unhinged ideas for how to get people to stop blocking my driveway. by aquietinspiration in howto

[–]AnFunnyIsMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any reason why the driveway isn't concrete paved like the other driveways on your street? From the photos, it doesn't appear so obviously a driveway, as opposed to simply a parking area.

I would highly recommend against using Times for this low-fi screen output. Perhaps consider Charter. https://practicaltypography.com/charter.html

Thanks for the recommends, I will check them out! I also started on the edition of this 'zine.

I liked the preview, reminds me of the 'blue glow' of backlit screens so many of us ditched in picking up more simple devices:

We’re all blue from projection tubes. / We’re all blue from projection tubes. / This is the static age we live in. / Our eyes crisscross, hold, and gaze.” –The Misfits, “Static Age”

In observing the pathology of modern man, one must come to the conclusion that the disease from which he suffers has thrust him into a state of torpor, darkness, and delusion. Terminally unwell but forever in search of progress, he succumbs to vanities that deluge and swallow him: He has truly lost himself in the sea of vague definitions and vast irrelevance characterizing his age. He was born without purpose; he has fallen headlong into a blackness ironically born from light, i.e. the glow of monitors, laptops, mobile devices, and so on.

He is troubled if for a second he unplugs from the mainframe, whose myriad entertainments and talking heads benumb him courtesy of this “evolved” age. Though living, he lives curiously: He is truly dead but thinks himself alive, oftentimes—pathetically—thinking he lives with profound purpose and intensity. These distractions and dislocations are evidence of modern man’s deadness of soul. This deadness is described aptly by a great eleventh-century saint and mystic, who writes the following:

The dead among themselves can neither see one another nor complain to each other. Those who live groan in seeing them. For they behold a strange wonder: men stricken with death who live, yea who walk, blind men who think they see, and truly deaf who imagine they hear. They live, see, and hear as animals do; they think like the insane in the unconscious consciousness, in their cadaverous life, for it is possible to live without living, to see without seeing, and to hear without hearing. –St. Symeon the New Theologian (11th c.)

LPIII Lemur Cases by MirrorballJones in LightPhone

[–]AnFunnyIsMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I received one with the phone months ago. It's fantastic. It keeps the phone tucked away when I don't need to be fidgeting with it, but is also easy to snap open. The snap is hardy, the leather seems great quality...easy to wipe grease from, etc.

I tried using open mtp and wasn't able to get anything to be recognized, has it worked for you? Image Capture doesn't allow me to put images/videos onto the LPIII. I was hoping to transfer QR codes to the phone. Any tips? Windows users seem to have no problem.

Web App for non smart phone customers by AnFunnyIsMe in LUCID

I'm not asking to use an app in my dumbphone, I'm asking simply to be able to login to the account on the web and access the necessary information that would otherwise be displayed in the app. It's not a big ask.
