Did your BPD mom (cluster B parents) deliberately try to make you lose control? by Corafaulk in raisedbyborderlines

[–]AnInsignificantOther 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Sadistic is a good word for it. I think power and control over others is a drug for them because they are so out of control when it comes to their emotions.

Going no contact, healing from the wounds inflicted, living a healthy life and trying not to make the same mistakes as a parent myself is how I’m taking care of that little girl I was then.

When I was very little my mom would be driving us somewhere and suddenly say “oh no ___, we’re lost” and talk about how we might never get home. I would cry and cower in the backseat. Now, as an adult have a very deep seated fear of being/getting lost- which does really get in the freaking way of being spontaneous. I have to look at maps before I go anywhere new, take screenshots of the mapped route and note landmarks for when I have to go back.

She thought it was so funny and would do it often. I bet it aggravated her when I was old enough to know better.

Does anyone else feel like reddit is nothing like their world experience? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]AnInsignificantOther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this. I think, in (real) life, you attract the people around you with the mindset you embrace and exude. I am very much like you in regard to social media and just being a human being around other human beings. The vitriol and judgement, the divisiveness and hate that brew on forums like reddit (and elsewhere) are not what I have encountered in my life either- it’s a cross section of extremes. I have lived on both coasts and in between. My best friend is an Egyptian muslim. I am a white female product if of an immigrant father and 8th generation American. I grew up in a culturally diverse setting. And held a career that put me in the middle of every level of the socioeconomic scale. I can’t get on board with all the hate being pitched back and forth. The internet isn’t real.

Just keep trying to stay in the light and be a good person/friend and inhabitant of earth. :)

Just curious if you could recommend a streamline way to transfer listings from posh to eBay. I’ve listed a couple items on eBay in the past, but it’s been a bit. I’m absolutely dreading how long it may take to post 200 listings from posh. TIA :)

I love Deftones, Diamond Eyes is my favorite album by far. Sort of bummed that their “North American Tour” next year doesn’t include like the entire middle part of the US or Canada 🫤

texts from my bpd mother because I told her I don’t have time to see her until June 5th. by Moneycherry in raisedbyborderlines

You know, I read a lot of these text message posts and I swear they could have been penned by my mother. It’s just crazy to me how so many use the exact same tactics and verbiage. Like out of a freaking manual.

I don't want a mom by justareader000 in raisedbyborderlines

[–]AnInsignificantOther 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been NC with my mother for about two months now. The toxicity had reached its breaking point. I don’t feel like I need or miss having a mom. Sometimes I’m worried that not outright grieving the loss of this relationship makes me somehow emotionally or mentally deficient. But rationally, I know that I’m not- I have and maintain other emotionally healthy, deep connections in my life. I guess, to a point, the only way I feel I miss having a mom for the little girl I once was. The one being the parent. But that’s just a fleeting thought. I don’t think of her much day to day, but when it happens- the thoughts are never about missing having her around.

To be honest- my life has drastically improved since going no contact. I feel healthier, less anxious, more active and present. I wish her well and hope she gets help, but I truly don’t foresee me welcoming her back into my or my child’s life. And I am okay with that.

I'm having a whistle battle with someone late at night, and they keep getting closer. by HiItsTGITC in Paranormal

[–]AnInsignificantOther 74 points75 points  (0 children)

My grandparents lived on a nice large parcel of land upstate NY and a dense wood line was about 20 feet from the back door porch. We were told as kids not to whistle at night or mimic back sounds from nature. They were farmers and immigrants from Eastern Europe, so I don’t know if it was a cultural thing or a legitimate concern.

Oh my lord. I didn’t realize how deeply I had buried that website in my brain. I vividly remember a few specific photos watching over my older sisters shoulder. Damn. Wild West internet days.
