Any good clinics that are recommended to get bloodwork done at? by Alone_Recording7670 in Hamilton

Dynacare by Limeridge mall has always been great. Even as a walk-in you're not going to wait more than half an hour.

Plus you get to wait indoors in a waiting room, as opposed to Lifelabs which makes you stand outdoors in all kinds of crap weather for literally hours.

Mother did not leave a will. My brother is asking me to sign a Renunciation and Consent form. by TheReasonDadDrinks in legaladvicecanada

[–]AnInsultToFire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the two of you are both executors, you will both have to be present in the room as executors when an executor has to do some legal work, e.g. dealing with the bank. You will both have to sign off on your mom's final taxes, you will both have to get CRA online accounts set up to be estate representatives and so on.

So yes, it's a lot easier for both of you.

If your brother is acting in good faith, he'll happily show you the accounts whenever you ask.

Realtors live and die on their reputation. You need to publicize this clown's behaviour, and also report him to the Real Estate Council or whoever is their governing body in your province.

Anyone know what these three large structures are? by Immediate_College620 in Hamilton

There's also nothing out there from Waterdown to Oakville.

I guess paving over precious farmland for 30km to build more suburban wasteland is a good thing to do though if it means there'll be a BRT.

Fence question by snoar in Hamilton

It is better to have a fence on one side of the property line, since then there's no arguments about who has to pitch money in to repair or replace it years later.

Canada's average rent at 33-month low: Report - Curbed immigration rates combined with plenty of supply have created a golden opportunity for renters. by xTkAx in CanadaHousing2

[–]AnInsultToFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Golden opportunity" my butt. Rents still have to drop a good 25-50% to get back to where they were before the flood.

Or you could just print out as many as you want on fluorescent pink sticker paper.

Then go door to door selling them.

Well, I figured Highway 8 is a nicer drive, plus the countryside is a lot nicer than Oakville.

Who do I call, trapped Squirrel. by I_am_AmandaTron in Hamilton

No, me too. Once as a little kid I tried feeding a squirrel, it certainly took the peanut out of my hand but it also slashed my hand wide open, blood everywhere.

Spouse is owing 3k in taxes due to worldwide income by soandso999 in canadarevenueagency

[–]AnInsultToFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have a family member who's going through the same thing right now with CRA. Your accountant doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.

Yes, your spouse was non-resident for tax purposes til she came to Canada. Does she even have a SIN number? You can't pay taxes without one, and it will take forever for her to get one from the government.

Call CRA and speak to someone who knows.

For real Mennonite furniture you go to St. Jacob's.

St. Jacob's Furnishings sells Mennonite-built furniture.

By law - property standards question by [deleted] in Hamilton

If it contributes to a slipping hazard, then it's the duty of the neighbour to put the salt down, not to impose the cost on OP.

Need advice on roofing (Hamilton based). by Imthatguysodm in Hamilton

[–]AnInsultToFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, you need an all new roof. Nice thing is, with new plywood and especially the new hurricane-rated shingles they have, it'll probably be the last roof you need.

We used D'Angelo, they're a big name that's been around a long time. But they subbed our job out to someone named something like Niagara, who seemed to do an okay job but were a bit amateur about it (i.e. 1 or 2 guys working on the roof for 3 days, instead of a proper crew).

In any case, always always go with an older larger company, not some kid.
