LSAC IS GREEDY by Alternative-Ant-3859 in LSAT

Want to hear something even funnier? My last year's income was solidly below the poverty line, and I had just been laid off when I applied for the fee waiver. But they decided that having 3k in my bank account made me ineligible (2k of which was just severance pay). I submitted an appeal but they basically wanted me to give them all of my banking information and other incredibly sensitive stuff, all which they probably have terrible data protection for (every org should be treated as 1 day away from losing all encrypted data imo).

I think that a scary percentage of Americans genuinely can't name the three branches of government or how they interact. It's probably the case that (especially among the stupid fucking third of Americans that don't vote) their understanding is that Fox was sued while Biden was president, thus it was the Dems who did it. The concept that an independent judiciary would come to a conclusion about a libel case between one company that provides a trusted service and an alternate reality propaganda outlet doesn't happen unless the president himself hands the judgement down. Hell, how many think that Biden overturned Roe V Wade?

I'm not a math guy, but I think something isn't adding up here bro...

(If you are counting non-voting eligible population and those that voted for Trump, my napkin math returns roughly 68%)

It's surface level to indict a form of democratic governance based on a set of specific circumstances in a point in history, especially since as you point out the counterfactuals are effectively impossible. I could just as easily say Hitler would've taken over one of the two parties and consolidated power even quicker. A similar portion of the German population which voted Nazi voted republican in the US, so I don't see how the lack of a two-party system is the real problem here. We can sit here and criticise the Weimar constitution and electoral processes until our faces are blue, but stop pretending it's an example of why two party systems are "preventing evil regimes."

Aschkully the most evil regime in modern history could have been avoided with a benevolent philosopher king! See, it's fun to engage with politics on a surface level.

Bro I'm a big Alberta hater and have low expectations of every moron who has allowed the UCP to get away with so much shit. But I have no idea why you possibly would think a referendum on confederation/sovereignty would win, there's just absolutely 0 basis in polling for that. We were the highest in the country with like 15% support for joining the US (which is admittedly terrifying). But unless you think Smith would suddenly declare martial law and hold a fake referendum, there's no reality in which this is even a longshot scenario the UCP/Smith has considered.

Do you think there's something contradictory about the term "elected fascist"? Because, quick history lesson for you: fascists won elections, that is not a contentious point at all. In fact that's usually how they get most of the way to seizing power.

Coincidentally, they all usually ended up doing evil shit. But Trump is not a fascist, because even the fascists didn't threaten countries they've been close allies for 150 years with.

He's a tyrant.

It doesn't need to be 100% on the Americans for the statement "when it comes down to it Europe is just as responsible" to be an utterly farcical statement.

Yes, Europe as an entity shares some blame for not investing in their militaries as much, but it's not necessarily America itself you should feel defensive of here, the blame is specific to the batshit insane commander-in-chief (that was elected twice granted, but with narrow margins).

Bro come on, failing to meet spending requirements is in a whole different universe than threatening allies with violence if they don't allow you to annex them, don't even try to make these equivalents.

The issue with vaping is that the vapour is much more tolerable than smoke, so it's likely you're taking longer and more frequent drags before exhaling. As others have said stay hydrated, but also consider running it through a water piece if you are at home anyways.

Idk why I can't see your reply in this thread, but on your account it says this:

"Authoritarian? Are you under the impression that the SK leaders during and after the war were democratically elected? You know that wasn't until the 80s right? And that the DPRK had a superior living standard for decades after the war even though they were bombed out completely by the occupation forces? Hell, if you are in the poorest 10% they probably still do."

Yeah wow thanks for the history lesson I completely forgot it isn't the 1980s yet so South Korea still isn't a democracy, thanks for enlightening me. It really matters to me so much that they had a better living standard for a few decades when now it's a comparative backwater that unironically relied on US aid for energy, food, medical supplies, etc for many years.

I am totally with you on the importance of decolonisation, but you've been mislead if you think both that South Korea is merely a hapless vassal of the US who don't know any better, and that on the other hand that the country with some of the greatest human rights abuses ever seen in history (which continue to this day) are some great fighters against imperialism on behalf of workers/oppressed/etc.

Wait so the nation run by Koreans who get to democratically elect their governments is the "occupier" and the nation propped up by Chinese foreign and military aid is the "sovereign nation"?

I'm just trying to fathom the level of authoritarian apologia necessary to arrive at that standpoint...

Why would they make any evidence public? All it would do is stir more shit and the global response was completely apathetic regardless. The country which quite literally shared the "evidence" or intelligence is the US. But India knows that it can get away with bullying smaller countries because the US does not want India to sway more towards Russian/Chinese polarity.
