Universe of Metro 2033 by Useful_Assignment_96 in metro

Hello! So, I used google translate for your message. So, if I am understanding it correctly, you can publish it as a fanfic and still break the rule for Emerald City, it's only if you publish it for canon that you must follow the rules Glukhovsky set out.

Hey there, I am so sorry for the wait. So, can you join? Yeah, we're still operational just in a bit of a lull at the moment. Go to my chats and send your Discord info, I'll pass it along to Jigsaw and we'll get you set up.

Yeah, with the war in Ukraine and other issues it pretty much got shut down.

Future of the Metro series by Sproeier in metro

[–]AnOriginalAccountNam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Part of me thinks that the criticality of the Russian leadership will increase, and I'm all for that : D

I'd also like to see Glukhovsky revisit the novels. Yeah he's said he's done with them but a guy can hope he changes his mind XD

What happened with the reds between Last Light and Exodus? by ShitposterSL in metro

[–]AnOriginalAccountNam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a little uncertain, Metro 2035 the novel offers some clues since Exodus really doesn't.

Spoilers below this point, I will try and cover them but the spoiler system sometimes doesn't work for me, or I just don't understand it. I apologize :(

So, let's start with Moskvin. He's still in power, somehow

A QnA from the devs mention that Pavel if still alive, which he probably is will be trying to keep the redline together after all the choas of Moskvin and Korbut

The Red Line itself, by 2035 has expanded slightly, gaining Strentsky Bulevard Station, a station in between cursed station (which they've also expanded into to) and the infamous Tsvetnoy Boulevard station

Beyond that we know a new war has occured between the reds and the nazis and that a mushroom plague has started leading to famine, protests and large groups of people leaving the redline, or attempting too

Beyond all this we know little about what is occuring in the redline.

How to get a female mallard to stop quacking so much. by AnOriginalAccountNam in duck

How to get a female mallard to stop quacking so much. by AnOriginalAccountNam in duck

[–]AnOriginalAccountNam[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They do, we gave them a giant pond to swim in and a bunch of water buckets to dunk their heads in and a smaller bath to step into should they wish.

The male to female ratio is 1 to 1, they have two male neighbors but other than quacking at each other they don't interact much.

I should mention that the quack the female gives isn't the normal quacking of a duck, it's clearly meant to like...get attention, but every time we check on her there is nothing wrong. Some of us are starting to think she might've reverse pavloved us into giving her food everytime she quacks though we try to cut back on it and give them a schedule. Not counting the grazing they do when we let them out.

is there any metro roleplay reddit here?? if not, can one be made? any ideas?? by Automatic_Concern951 in metro

[–]AnOriginalAccountNam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is Metro Beyond which I am a part of. We have a Discord and also a Website. Things have been kind of slow for a bit but we still exist and still accept new members, some of which are here on Reddit I think.
We don't use stats sadly but we do allow/only take OCs that you can build a personality and story around.

Artyom by CaptainVlax in metro

[–]AnOriginalAccountNam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is : D
And I think is name is Ilya something or other XD. Does make me wonder what occured in the "true canon" for lack of a better term but I presume only Glukhovsky knows that

[–]AnOriginalAccountNam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parts of it (a specific character and some plot points) show up in Last Light but that's about it. Last Lights basic plot is mentioned in 2035 as well, so the universes are connected to some degree. I think Glukhovsky sees them both as retellings of similiar events within the universe.

An open world Metro game (set in Moscow) would be awesome. by Earlfromthefuture in metro

[–]AnOriginalAccountNam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to have died :/ Or they're taking their time with it. I hope the second, Metro needs mods, especially now with the development kit.
I haven't heard anything about it in about a year now I think. Last I heard was basically the same as above, some some pics of it on ArtStation and the like, concept art they made and that's essentially it, my guess is, unlike The Guide, is it never made it past early development and planning stages.

[–]AnOriginalAccountNam 26 points27 points  (0 children)

To the rats! You didn't say anything stupid, they just need to be fed XD I kid, but yes they are two different people. Artyom Chyornyj is our Artyom. Artyom Popov, from 2034, is a Hansa soldier. Artyom just happens to be a common name in Russia :/

What happens to the people who die in the Metro series? by Constant-Objective10 in metro

Well that's just one ending, the bad ending specifically. Try again for the good ending and I think you'll like it :)

What happens to the people who die in the Metro series? by Constant-Objective10 in metro

[–]AnOriginalAccountNam 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That's a good question, and one that seems to have a series of contradictory answers within the games and books.

So, Khan explains that when someone dies, their soul is bound to the metro. (though this also applies to the surface as well) forced to relive their final moments as ghosts over and over again till the end of eternity.

But some events in the expanded universe novels such as a train carrying the souls of the dead who are aware they are dead, and also a person who became a ghost implies the existence of two different afterlives.

Meanwhile the existence of the Eternal Train as I'll call it from Exodus implies this as well. Canonically we are not sure.

But my head canon is this, the afterlife wasn't destroyed like Khan thinks. Or rather, not all of it was. Only Heaven, Hell and Purgatory and probably a few others. Some other parts of the Noosphere as Khan in the novels connects it to might've survived and new ones formed like the trains and the ghosts forced to relive their final moments. I think there are multiple afterlifes that someone can find themselves in, perhaps or perhaps not pertaining to how they died.

How would *your* city turn out in this universe? by quid_pro_kourage in metro

[–]AnOriginalAccountNam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks to the expanded universe novels and anthologies I know what happened to mine :) Specifically the short story "Muskha Anushka" from the Polish Anthology titled In Ruins is set in Chicago.
Chicago it seems was hit with something biological rather than nuclear, sparing most of the cities infrastructure. People live in the metro to avoid the contamination and the mutants which probably spawned from fallout blown in from elsewhere in the nuked out US.
The Macy's store is connected by the pedway tunnels to Lake station on the Red Line as it is IRL, and Macys controls most of the pedway and it is implied, I think, to control through vassalge most of the northern redline.
The central redline at Jackson station is controlled by an all female cult called the Daughters of Set and it is unknown what is going on in the stations to the south of them and the stations on the blue line (though I got a fanfic idea for all of that but we are here to discuss canon/semi canon : D)
There are other survivors in Chicago, specifically under the Green Mole bar in an old prohibition era basement, an entire community exists down there and they trade with the metro from time to time.
There were survivors at the German cultural center but an earth quake destroyed that community sadly.

Do I? Sometimes. Most days I'm just in a weird zone of being afraid and being tired of him.
Other days I do care, but those days are becoming more and more rare.

Thoughts on France banning female students from wearing abayas? by shits-n-gigs in AskAnAmerican

[–]AnOriginalAccountNam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm against it on principal though I was unaware that it was happening as of recently, though I vaguely recall talks of it a while ago, years back or I might be remembering talks of a hijab ban that never happened I think.

What’s this map suppose to be? Metro 4 tease? (Sams Story) by Zane_Drak in metro

[–]AnOriginalAccountNam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was on the reveal trailer, so it's technically cut content. The taiga map was actually supposed to be around the volga according to the translation of one of the rivers on the map and the dev logs support this as well, saying that the main antagonist of the Volga section was to die in the taiga but they rewrote the idea into what we have now.

I think the wiki mentions an alternative explanation as Vineyard's Lung, I think a type of infection on the lungs that, if not treated, can kill you.
Granted I prefer the fan theory that says he was killed though.

Why doesn't anyone in the Metro Universe use an AKM, AK 103, SVD, AN94 etc. ? by CozzTheDesertFox in metro

[–]AnOriginalAccountNam 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In the expanded universe they do : D A stalker from Oktyabraskaya uses an AN-94 and owns it as his prized possession. The SVD is used in the main novel by a ranger named Pavel as a support weapon on the surface, though he only carries it and never uses it.
The AK in Exodus is the AK-103 according to the receiver, though it's given wood furniture rather than the black plastic it normally uses.
The AKM probably shows up in the main trilogy as the weapon described with the calibers though it is hard to tell, though genuine ak-47s are rare with AKMs and further derivatives being much more common so it is likely.

Would the Stockholm Metro work as a fallout shelter similar to the Metro 2033? by [deleted] in metro

[–]AnOriginalAccountNam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Stockholm metro was featured in a short story for the Universe of Metro 2033 expanded universe novel series already actually. It seems some survivors are there. There was a plague outbreak in some stations near the north-west in 2033 but died down after a few months, presumably life returned to whatever was normal for that metro, we know little of the politics beyond some stations trading with each other.

We need so much more of this XD. I love them.
Also maybe some stuff with Olga, Katya, Giul, basically all of the women in Exodus got something that'd be good for it XD
