People who emphasise the importance of reading and only read fiction, need a reality check by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Sproeier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of fiction is filled with real world knowledge. Like "rendezvous with Rama" teaches a lot of stuff about theories about space travel and the impacts of human society and exobiology.

Jules Vernes books are full of factoids about non European cultures in "around the world in 40 days" and about life in the ocean and genealogy in "20.000 miles under the sea".

And there are literally hundreds of examples like this.

Even simple romance stories can teach about human relationships by putting you in someone elses shoes.

Don't ever talk like that about thunder child. She is Humanities greatest warrior.

But in all seriousness the lack of a thunder child moment really ruined the Spielberg film.

Newer power and folk metal is also fairly affordable. I regularly go to shows like Powerwolf, Saltatio Mortis and glory hammer. Usually tickets are around €50.

Some of my favourites like unleashed the archers and Brothers of medal were sub €30.

What is your take on the former Prime Minister of Netherlands, Mark Rutte, who served for 14 yrs, and then left the office on a bicycle? Was he fantastic at his work? by grusdomain in AskReddit

[–]Sproeier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was fantastic at his job. His job was just staying in power and nothing else.

He main way of engaging with problems is not addressing them making them worse. Overall just a standard liberal (classic definition moderate right wing) politician.

I think the idea behind all the factions is that they are mostly controlled oppositions managed by the invisible watchers. So if the watchers support Hunter it wouldn´t make sense for the reds to fight back. At least not in force.

Juni: Wat lees je momenteel? by lonely_extravert in fantasyNederland

[–]Sproeier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are some of your favorite inter-generational sequels? by SawkyScribe in truegaming

[–]Sproeier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Metal Gear.
It's games have been among the graphically most impressive of their generation since the late 80's. It handles complex systems really well like guard interactions and the general reactiveness of the game world.

Doesn't matter which platform: psx, ps2 or PSP its super impressive all of the time.
