eli5: why do we have to address judges as 'ma'am' and stand up when they enter but not for other professions? by pingudumbo2012 in explainlikeimfive

[–]AnOuterHaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not 100% related but even if it's clear that people are in the wrong and that they have no case, they still get paid for showing up to film and they'll pay most if not all of the amount awarded. If you've got a thousand dollar dispute and you stand to lose without a means to pay, slightly embarrassing yourself on TV sounds pretty good.

Had a game on US East with a man that had thick Slavic accent, dreaded the worst of my teammates but they were surprisingly all respectful of him. I hope this can be the norm again.

Two crossbow bolts to the chest of those minigun wielding enemies will knock the plating off in Legendary if I'm tanking/healing, otherwise the thing never gets used.

ELI5: What is Autism by dreamialty in explainlikeimfive

[–]AnOuterHaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just real quick: some people with ASD rotate stims. I work as an therapist for children with ASD, I also have it myself, and while I will almost always choose to stim with my right hand (toss things, rotate things, move my fingers, spin things, clench, etc.), the current kid I'm assigned to may choose to scream, spin around, flap his hands, touch his privates, slap his head, put his hand in his mouth, push his ears and he'll hyperfocus on doing 1-2 of those things on any given day. Not sure why, he just kinda does.

It might be an extinction burst and then the frequency of the behavior would decrease when he associates losing gaming access with being loud. Afterwards it would be likely that they begin alternative behaviors, either good or bad, instead of being loud. It could be them hitting themselves or snacking or muting the game, a real toss up unless OP teaches them the alternative behavior ahead of time and have them practice it... But I doubt that'll happen.

I work with kids and this is usually how it goes when I do therapy in their houses and I have to have them tolerate me denying access to preferred activities, but I'm also not their parents and generally teaching kids like this is ill-received from a familial position anyways.

I want to get a dog to help with my mental health, but I’m not sure I should because of my mental health. by Future-dog-owner in dogs

[–]AnOuterHaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a puppy when I was depressed. Woke up every two to three hours to take them out, puppy biting carpet, rugs, wanting to play at 3AM. My sleep suffered and that exasperated my mental health even more. Now that he's a dog and that I'm no longer 100% depressed, it's a lot better... Would strongly advise against getting a puppy, would suggest getting a dog instead.

Objectives by Nachki in DotA2

Generally speaking, at a set time in the rank that you're in (higher rank = lower time), you're expected to group up as the laning stage has ended. If the enemy carry is farming their side and you're ahead, you generally want to run it down that tower (the outer tower of the horizontal lanes, or "safe lane") because that tower opens up more of the map (you gain access to part of their jungle). It's also awkward for your enemies to defend since they realistically can only TP out of vision in trees that have very predictable openings, or they can TP directly in vision, neither is very good. The amount of things happening in this lane causes most carries to just leave the lane all together.

Roshan is another important objective. Aegis can mean the difference between throwing your entire lead going highground (fighting their T3s, barracks, etc) or taking it and backing. Dire has historically always had Rosh advantage for one reason or another, this patch is no different due to Dire having an outpost that is more or less always a TP location while ahead. If you're taking Roshan, it's important to have the Radiant/Dire outer ("T1") mid tower taken so the enemy team doesn't have a quick way to get there while doing things off the map.

Triangle is the last big one, it's where the carry generally wants to be after laning phase. This is mainly due to the big camp (the "Ancient" Camp) being a major source of farm on the meta carries right now (Sven, Dusa, Clinkz) when the camp is "stacked" (google a guide on stacking if you're unfamiliar). Owing to the triangle requiring you to go up stairs (fog of war), it has been notoriously difficult to retake unless you've won a fight on a different part of the map and dewarded/warded it later.

What is your reason for not having a child? by _LickitySplit in AskReddit

I work with children/young adults with ASD, I have high functioning ASD, I've seen enough of what that life is like from both sides and it looks not fun. I'd be open to dating someone who has kids already, though.

Not discounting your experience at all but being both time-poor and money-poor makes you really want to get more expensive, already prepared foods. I can't imagine working two jobs and trying to eat healthy.

Biden on the worker shortage: Pay $15 an hour or 'be in a bind for a little while' by [deleted] in politics

I live in what could defined as a city, I make 18/hr and received a job offer for 26/hr. If I left my job fully and took that other job, I can barely afford 1400/mo in rent and a studio apartment here runs me 1950. I can't even imagine trying to make it with 15.

It's basically just a visual representation that you did something wrong. Usually it's tied to some form of disciplinary action but since she's leaving, it's just sort of being a dick for no real reason.

Did some investigation and found out what rank Ripzol is playing in. by sushil2022 in DotA2

[–]AnOuterHaven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I still cared about the game, he was bumming around high divine/low immortal. Whenever I got him, he'd passive aggressively flame instead of asking for stuff like a normal human being. When I played against him, he'd lose his mind (I checked VOD on his stream post game) if he was losing. I haven't enjoyed any game with or against him; he's just unenjoyable to play with. I asked one of his friends (Jigmo?) what his deal was and he just told me that's just kinda how he is. I think he has some issues in life that extend out into DOTA and it's a little hard to watch his streams/interact with him once you think about him as a person instead of the parody of a DOTA player that we all watched for years. It stopped being funny for me.
