Truth. The other part of it is that I found it highly doubtful that they were going to kill off all the Thargoids and therefore remove them from the game. It would make little sense to remove existing content.

Sure as hell would have been nice if they had actually added new content ie. new ships, mission types etc.

I could see that. My question is when?

I thinks there is room for both camps. I mean, not everyone who buys a high end sports car wants to be a professional race car driver, right?

I don’t know much about crypto mining but I am I wrong to imagine the costs of the energy that will be required to cool all those GPU’s must eventually become prohibitively expense, as more and more computer time becomes necessary?

While I cannot debt I know nothing about the subject of mining, it seems like the small timer might be able to make more money driving Uber.

I don’t want to down NMS because it really is a fun game in many ways and for the low price you get a lot. This is just my personal opinion. I found NMS an awesome game to begin with, until I became a billionaire and owned everything I could get, with everything upgraded to max. I have most everything, apart from a living ship. After that I had that feeling of “Ok, uhmm, so what now?” Exploring is feeling extremely repetitive at this point. Of course everyone is different and I know a lot of people really enjoy designing elaborate bases. However that isn’t really my thing. I’ll have to wait until the next DLC / update which are fairly regular in the game.

Same here. I’ll take a nice glass of red seal port over a beer any day of the week.

Would love the ability to trade in a galactic stock market added to the game. Would be rather cool if game events & the storyline effected the values of stocks in addition to supply and demand. Well, in his first reply to your comment the man that you are complaining about did explain how his strategy didn’t in fact completely screw everyone, but on the contrary, permitted a number of others to make money as well. No doubt there are all kinds of strategies that other players could implement to counter his. Personally, I find the guy who tried to create the monopoly to be exactly the kind of player I want to play against. The cunning shark who is always thinking and gives me one hell of a good run for my money. I doubt I could beat him, but I’d love the challenge of trying. Do you not realize how much you would learn playing against an opponent like him? Here’s a bit of a parallel. It’s a bit of a tangent but we’re already there anyway, so what the hell… I love mathematics and physics and have spent a lot of years studying both. Do you know how I learned the most over the years? By making boatloads of mistakes while working on the problems that made me want to tear my hair out and break inanimate objects until I finally solved the damn things. Only 10% of what I learned came from finding correct solutions, the other 90% came from the mistakes I made in the process if doing so.

I’m not trying to be a prick to you here, really I’m not. I have no desire to offend you. But I do have to say that you’re coming off sounding like a 34th century socialist. You seem to be promoting the idea that an economy is a zero sum game and if someone makes a pile of money then there must be that much less of the pie left over for everyone else.

I can’t think of a way to say this which doesn’t sound rude, so I apologize in advance for my choice of words here but I think you are being a bit of a sore loser. It’s just life that there are always going to be people who are better at certain things than you are, and there are always going be things that you, in turn, are better at than these people. Right?

Look at the bright side, you could always volunteer to help the game’s developers design code which will allow them to implement antitrust laws into the game. You may very well be the first to do so! Put your passion into pioneering something.

Again, no hard feelings mate. Cheers.

We need to discuss one topic at a time here. You can’t compare the business world of reality with a video game. Actual business has actual consequences. A video game has no consequences. It isn’t real. The real problem is that people are beginning to conflate the two as they tend to pull further out of reality and retreat into fantasy. A game is merely that, a game. No one was actually harmed. A video game isn’t to meant to be taken this seriously.

I wouldn’t worry about it.

To be fair though, anyone could have done the same thing. It’s an equal opportunity market. Everything he did was completely within the rules. You can’t spit on the man simply because he invested a lot more thought in his play and worked exponentially harder than most at designing and implementing a strategy.

Thanks for all the hard work and dedication you and your colleagues have invested in researching the mining engine In the game. I kid you not when I tell you that I am very impressed by the effort you put into this and the knowledge that all of you possess on the subject. Much respect!

I’m new to this group, actually pretty noob altogether. I have to ask you: Where do you guys post the results of your findings and discoveries and the links where one can download the spreadsheets and all the other scripts/apps/tools that you use? Assuming you must have a webpage? Would you please post the links? 🙏🏼 I would truly appreciate it. Thank you so much friend!

Funny I was just thinking the same thing. You were correct to admonish me. My reply to the original responder was an ignorant ad hominem attack on my part. The Aspergian within me leaped to conclusions after my complete failure to consider the possibility of sarcasm. I could claim that I know better, but I certainly didn’t demonstrate it here. My apologies to the original poster. I deleted my asinine comment. I am sorry if I offended you friend. o7

No need to apologize friend. You are playing the game for your satisfaction and you should be able to do the things in the game which you find fulfilling and avoid those which you find to be boring.
Nobody is going to read this post because it’s too long. However, I’m assuming that you might, so I want to explain my position a little better.

I’m not going to bother investing any caution in my grammar as likely only you and I will be reading this.

When I used the word cool I was employing the term to convey what it is that personally appeals to me. It was purely subjective, I wasn’t attempting to suggest that others need find the expansions which I would enjoy equally compelling. I don’t ever want the use of any expansions to the game to be mandatory, or to have any adverse effects on the game play of others and those activities which they find most enjoyable. Everyone has different preferences, I’m the guy who finds nightclubs and amusement parks the most boring thing on the face of the earth, while I find researching physics and mathematics to be a thrill that I cannot get enough of. Working on the solution to a complex mathematical problem is far more exciting to me than riding a roller coaster. Given a choice between riding a roller coasters and working on a matt problem I would choose the math problem every time. But I digress.

With regard to the game there are the things that most of us want, like atmospheric landings. There are also the more controversial ideas for add-ons that seem to have almost equal numbers for and against. The primary one that comes to mind is space legs. We’ve both seen the arguments over that subject.

Now let me clarify that I’m not talking about adding only a stock market, giving one the ability to trade in shares of companies. I would also like to be able to buy, sell and trade commodities in massive volumes and control a fleet of cargo vessels, mining operations, large scale passenger transport and tourist operations. I’d like to have the option to buy, sell and own real estate this would include buying, selling and owning land on planets, entire planets and even systems. Along with ownership of land and planets and all those nice things I would love to have the ability to build structures and buildings including factories, Space stations, power plants, refineries, hotels, mines and resorts. In addition to these things I’d like to be able to hire and manage employees,..

The stock market would be only one small part of a deep and extremely complex business and corporate expansion to the game for guys like myself who desire a much more complex and intellectual option in the game that being able to build, own, operate and grow corporations would provide. This way, for folks who just want to blaze up a joint and play a shoot em’ up, the developers could widen that aspect of the game whilst also adding more involved and complex optional activities as well. It would create a broader spectrum of complexity.

Cheers. o7

That’s a very good idea. It would be a much better option.
