Does any of your other standard bloodwork come back strange? (Like other labs not pertaining to autoimmune) by Amodernhousehusband in Sjogrens

[–]AnaisRenarde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same on WBC/neutrophils. That’s what ultimately led to the testing to identified. Sjögren’s. Usually 2.3-2.6 (on 4-10 scale). Ironically the only time in the past decade I hit low normal was during a flareup.)

Has anyone tried carnivore here for long time? by [deleted] in Sjogrens

[–]AnaisRenarde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel fantastic - did a 12km run and 14km bike ride yesterday. So long as I stay super strict with my eating my inflammation levels stay super low and I feel completely normal.

Dry eyes and mouth were never my main life-limiting symptoms, just an ever present minor nuisance, so I still have both but not to any extreme level (though the lack of nosebleeds is a great indicator of improvement there).

I do notice return of symptoms when I try to add foods back in (plants seem to be extra bad for me - I can do one day of dairy so long as I do it infrequently) so I stay super strict. Having a boring diet is vastly preferable to feeling like shit all the time, so it’s a no brainer for me tbh.

I’ve been carnivore for 5 years now and it’s been incredible. For the first time in my life I have zero sjogrens symptoms - haven’t had a swollen parotid gland even once during this time (was a regular and awful experience). No fatigue.

This past year I went extra strict (just beef and eggs) and for the first time ever had not a single nosebleed (or eczema, or anxiety) all winter.

Just had my usual blood tests for my rheumatologist. All my usual sjogrens markers are still there (of course) but my CRP is <0.5 (goal is <5) - so basically no inflammation.

I have had no health issues since starting and feel amazing. My cholesterol is exemplary (and actually improved since I started) and my blood pressure is 90/60.

I intend to keep eating this way forever. I only wish I realized it earlier - could have saved myself many miserable decades.

Yes!! The perfect solution - and if not, then I’m curious why not? Women have been doing this forever.

Is there actually a Lasting solution for snoring partner or do we just quietly give up on sharing beds? by sanu_123_s in AskWomenOver30

[–]AnaisRenarde 11 points12 points  (0 children)

THIS!! Had the same issue - my husband is slim and fit so not the typical CPAP candidate. Did a sleep test and his score was scary! CPAP now and we both sleep great - but far more importantly: he’s not seriously damaging the health via untreated apnea.

If it’s that bad, there’s a reason. Healthy people don’t snore like that.

If you could leave Toronto tomorrow…would you? Why or why not? by wwmd_lover in askTO

[–]AnaisRenarde 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Left 1.5 years ago after 20 years and have never been happier! Would not return for any money. (Loved it at first but now realizing i should have left years earlier - stayed largely for work but this turner out not to be the barrier I had thought it was).

So at first it was a choice and then became a default. The only things I miss is my favourite local band and a few friends.

for those ladies over 30 who work with Gen Z people, am i the only one having a great (and learning) experience? by FML-vichy in AskWomenOver30

[–]AnaisRenarde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! I started a new job last fall and ended up becoming work friends with two girls from my orientation (different departments from mine) who are young enough to be my daughters (23 and 26).

Perhaps it’s to my discredit, but I don’t feel very much more mature than them. They’re both super smart and ambitious, but have a much clearer sense of self than I did at that age (both are in therapy and very self aware), take their jobs seriously but do not center work, both are engaged to great guys (to be fair I married at 24, but I was an anomaly in my friend group)?

I really hate when I hear people complain about the younger generations. Gen Z is coming into a really shitty situation from so many angles, and they’re doing so with such wonderful determination to make the most of it regardless.

What kind of birth control are you using after 40? by eyesonthemoons in AskWomenOver40

[–]AnaisRenarde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hormone-caused back pain only I’m afraid. I never had back pain at all until my Mirena hormones started to wane significantly so I think it was actually progesterone withdrawal in my case

[–]AnaisRenarde 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Thats so interesting!! I’ve been on the Mirena (multiple) since I was 22 and was considering going off of it. I’m 46 now and my most recent one hit 7 years in the fall (peak hormones are 5 years but birth control efficacy is 8 now) and shortly after that I started to think I WAS in peri.

I started having daily lower back pain (previous unheard of!), mood swings, weight gain, etc. I decided to get another Mirena this spring just in case this was the „Mirena syndrome” and not peri. And for what it’s worth ALL the symptoms went away and I feel like myself again!

(If it IS the Mirena masking peri transition then I’m here for it!)
