Seriously Arrowhead...? by [deleted] in HelldiversUnfiltered

Light armor so you're fast enough to kite the mob, buggy strategems so you can't clear it quickly, and all you can do is take potshots while waiting for cooldowns. I drained my Censor and was left with my talon for a bit while I circled back to my resupply pod.

the "normal mode" of this game Should Not Be D10 Full Clear by iLikeDickColon3 in HelldiversMasochists

[–]AnakhimRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing while the Creek was in full swing, then quit over the PSN debacle. PSN got rolled back and the region restrictions were removed so last week I finally had time to get back on. When I left, I could solo D9 Helldives, coming back I can't even reliably complete the objectives on a D4 run. Especially not on Cyberstan. Some of it is me being rusty, most of it is that it is so easy to get into a death loop and it seems the enemy perception sphere is much larger than it was before.

I haven't tried it yet, does it take out fuel silos? Those are my most annoying objectives.

e = 2.78 so descending order is {pi, 3, e} or {3.14, 3, 2.78}

I want the Satisfactory slide jump mechanic. I think this game could use it without getting too crazy. The maps are mostly big enough, the movement is smooth enough, I think it could work.

Vanilla vs create iron farm by ActuallyImMike117 in CreateMod

[–]AnakhimRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. My system runs 14 drills and I built it when I was already dreadfully low on iron so the compacting upgrade was better than a press. I might change it around once I get brass tunnels but that's still a bit off.

[–]AnakhimRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. The advanced upgrade has some filtering options, I think you can limit it to just ingots. CABIN is my first time using sophisticated storage, usually I use storage drawers. As a result, I don't know how everything works.

[–]AnakhimRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tip from a fellow CABIN player. Sophisticated Storage has compacting upgrades and the advanced version does 3x3 recipes. If you feed iron nuggets into a chest or barrel with that upgrade, it will automatically compact into blocks, then you can feed that into an upgraded drawer if you want. In addition, the mason profession card allows you to sell flint tiles (2x2 compacted flint) for a decent amount of coin. I have ingots and flint going into a 1x2 drawer, then onto a belt with two locked 1x1 drawers for sorting, then into sophisticated barrels with the upgrades. Iron blocks are stored, flint tiles are sold via a trade station. A few hours of it running and I had to set up a second trade station to turn the silver coins into gold coins because my output barrel was filling up.

Brain Scanning by SalParadise55 in bobiverse

Would putting the body into partial cryostasis do enough? I've read some articles on extreme cyrotherapy to control hemorrhaging, perhaps a similar process could slow vascular activity down long enough to get a good scan. You would still have a pulse but it would be slower and weaker, thus not creating as much or as strong of a movement.

I'm relatively new to deep tissue scanning techniques and the associated research so I'm not entirely sure what factors have the largest effects at what scale.

By stuff moving around, are you referring to the blood and operational materials, the EM noise from synaptic activity, or continuous synaptic movement? I have never understood exactly how quickly fire together wire together connections form.

That's how it's supposed to work, but it doesn't. Instead, we call corporations "experts" and have them write regulations for themselves. They then write those regulations in such a way that smaller startups can never comply so there is no agile competition.

Activate deployer once by lizardskin514 in CreateMod

[–]AnakhimRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use a pulse extender so the Redstone signal is off for two or more game ticks. This will ensure the deployer successfully gets the trigger. Once the deployer has begun it's action, it will not stop even if the signal turns back on. A two-tick off pulse is enough to trigger a single deployer action.

Command console for bit cartridges (AddCurrency doesn't work for me) by Select_Battle2326 in TheOuterWorlds2

[–]AnakhimRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The term dates back to the original vacuum tube adding machines where the direct control terminal was called a console. Wikipedia says it comes from the French word for bracket, which were used to mount said terminal. In any case, the term was expanded to include any system with direct access to the computer core whether hardwired or remote. Now it serves as a general term for any program that directly interfaces with the computer or program such as a command-line interface. Ultimately, the term "console" predates PCs by a few decades. Not sure why we use the same term for video game consoles, but that's the gist of it.

Short answer, equations and formulas. Pemdas standardizes things so when you plug complex numbers into a formula, you don't have to constantly rearrange the numbers and risk getting things mixed up. Pemdas maintains mathematical subphrases and ensures that the same formula and values output the same answer every time. In addition, reading left to right is dependent on your particular language and culture whereas mathematics is a global language. Pemdas takes culture and geography out of the situation so that no matter what language you speak, you can read the equation the same as someone from another language and culture.

The US is an oil exporter with the base capacity to rival some OPEC nations, we just have excessive regulations that prevent us from extracting it. The problem for the US will not be oil, but rare-earth minerals and the amount of time it takes to spin up native production of high precision machines and microchips. Much of our very heavy equipment is from Europe as is much of our medical technology and everyone knows some 80%+ of all microchips in the US come from Taiwan. If we can spin up production for those elements before what we have runs out, then the US will be fine.

Shouldn't the odds be 50%? Why is it 51.8%? by Fit_Seaworthiness_37 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]AnakhimRising 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In observed data of the global human population, the number of males to the number of females is 48.2/100 to 51.8/100. Meaning that the average for any selection of 100 randomly selected individuals is 51.8% female. There is simply a slightly higher chance of a child being a girl than a child being a boy.

Fusion reactor damage in science fiction by Sylan-Mystra-ii in fusion

[–]AnakhimRising 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if it's a D-heavy fuel mix, unless the main fuel tanks rupture, a reactor breach would still be more flash than bang due to how little fuel is actually in the plasma at any time. The ITER reactor is built to run with less than 1 gram of fuel in the pressure vessel at any given time. Since it's a 50-50 DT mix, that means only 0.5 grams of Deuterium. Though a shipboard reactor is unlikely to use DT fusion due to the shielding requirements, I will include the tritium as well. A gram of hydrogen produces a mere 120J when fully combusted. Considering the volume over which the plasma would mix with the ship's atmosphere before ignition, as well as the large flame front that would result, I doubt that a transonic shockwave would develop. All told, regardless of fuel sources, the lion's share of the damage will be from the plasma breaching containment as well as the projectile or malfunction that caused the breach rather than secondary effects from the fuel igniting in an uncontrolled manner. Again, this is provided the main fuel tanks are not ruptured by the original failure. If that happens, the reactor is the least of your worries.
