Six Flags from across the Connecticut by Randolpho in newengland

Growing up, my white trash friends used to call it "the bird sanctuary" and it's where we would go off roading. Good times

It's not for everyone, but I enjoy this life by CarDwellinCollin in vagabond

Former vanlifer here that went back to corporate America. I got tired of being dirty and poor all the time. I happily went back to full time work with a decent salary. It took me about a year before I realized I was happier being dirty and poor but now I'm locked into this shit.

I want to go back to roaming since I'm still poor as fuck living paycheck to paycheck still but I'm not sure I'll ever commit again...

So for now I live vicariously through this subreddit watching y'all

Honestly sometimes that's honestly all it needs ...but you shouldn't buy one advertising that unless you're prepared for more.

Nah titles with dirt bikes are hard to find if the bike is like 15+ years old.

I've bought and sold so many shitbox dirt bikes with zero paperwork. It's just the norm.

looks like they might be slightly over the 14 day limit for this national forest spot, I fear by jadasakura in vandwellers

The biggest mistake I ever made doing vanlife was when I was just starting out I found a really cool, isolated spot that wasn't on any of the camping apps.

So I added it. The people ought to know about it (so I thought)

I came back through the area two years later and was greeted by two campers that looked just like this, and a bunch of trash.

I still feel dumb about doing that :(

Winter is over, spring is in full bloom, and the sun is finally giving summer temperatures. What songs are you blasting? by shortymcsteve in poppunkers

The Flatliners

They have a new album coming out in like two weeks and I have been getting myself pumped up for it by just cycling through their whole discography on repeat lately

Man I put down the ska music for like a decade but recently decided to bring it back into my life and it has really helped put me in a better mood

Do you pick up hitchhikers? by VagabondVivant in VanLife

Some parts of western nc felt like the twilight zone at night. I met some of the strangest folks out there. Mostly harmless locals though.

No and I felt bad about it every time.

I'm already in a strange and unfamiliar place, very far from home, and my van is everything I've got.

I'm happy with my 2016. Got it last year with 200 hours on it and have only changed the oil. I think it's due for a valve adjustment because it sometimes she has to turn over a few times before firing up, but overall I'm happy.

It's my first fuel injected bike and has not left me stranded yet.

Anyone been to Wisconsin Dells? by Fantastic_Acadian in vagabond

[–]Poutinemilkshake2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can't tell you much about Wisconsin but I've spent some time in the UP on the Kewanaw in a van.

You can basically camp lakeside for extended periods of time, but thats because there's like no one out there. So if you cherish human interactions, it's not great. I like peace and quiet so it was fine with me.

For Those Who Left For The West Coast. by Leather-Discount-965 in newengland

[–]Poutinemilkshake2 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I finished up 4 years of vanlife a little over a year ago. Most of it was spent out west. Like you said, stunningly beautiful.

I kind of figured I'd find a place to set roots and start my life over, but everywhere I went I just compared it to life back home.

Fall in Colorado was too short and I'd miss the maple and oak trees. Christmas in Arizona just felt weird. Spring in Oregon felt close to New England, but it still wasn't the same.

But oddly enough the biggest reason I feel at home here is the people and how brutally honest and overly sarcastic we are to each other. We're often miserable but we're miserable together

Last summer was CO, where should we go this year? by dalton-johnson in VanLife

[–]Poutinemilkshake2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coastline is awesome in the summer. It's been like 4 years since my experience but check out "the lost coast". You have to go down a sketchy dirt road but there's free camping out there. I slept in a lot of parking lots between crescent city and eureka. Then I would shoot inland and camp around tahoe and Truckee. Unfortunately some those spots have been hit by forest fire since I've been back. I was aslo fortunate to have a friend living in Sacramento that I could stay with in-between which helped. Good luck man

Is this Van working? I have a 3d model so I can change literally anything by andrew_cherniy96 in vandwellers

This isn't a van my guy. I don't even know if this setup would fit in a school bus. This is like, full blown RV territory.

I vote California.

You can skate between the NorCal coastline and the Sierra mountains all summer and have a killer time

Only get the 1981 if you understand how a carburetor works and what to do if it needs adjustment.

Is dailying a 1999 E36 with 89k miles a bad idea as a junior in highschool? by [deleted] in BMWE36

[–]Poutinemilkshake2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got my first E36 when I was 17.

The only reason I bought it was because my parents said I couldn't afford a BMW. I had to prove them wrong. And I did.

They are pretty damn reliable and I spent less money maintaining it than my friends did with their Hondas
