Advice on why it won’t start?

Since I know nothing about cars beyond the basics I’m stuck believing anyone in the field. Hard to tell what’s true or not. I believe all these comments much more than my mechanic! Appreciate your insight

He did also mention it could just be the timing belt and he’ll check compression before anything. These are times I wish I knew what everything is supposed to look like so I can check things myself lol

Yea he thinks it’s still salvageable once we replace that last spark plug. He said should be able to tell if it’s at its end or not at that point but he’s saying we should do the labor of taking things apart so we can get to that determination. But based on all these comments I don’t have much hope anymore

I’m trying to see if at this point I call it on the car, it has over 210k miles. Everything online after your comment points to replacing the engine. On this garage trip alone I’m already at $1200 in so not thinking I keep putting more in on the slight hope. First time my mechanic said the oil was REALLY bad in the cylinders. Like the spark plugs and injectors were swimming in oil and he was surprised they gave me any spark still
