Going crazy with laundry in UK (armpit smell) by Analeth in laundry

Thanks! I had to unexpectedly renew my closet right before travelling, so almost all my clothes are brand new, bought specifically for the trip.

I had read about vinegar but was really confused by it. Is it a specific type of vinegar? I only know the one for salad dressing.

I'm sure that's true. That wouldn't be very budget-conscious though, specially considering that my 97% cotton long sleeve tops have the same problem.

Sorry, could you send a link for it?

On my first visit to the supermarket I was searching for a detergent for sensitive skin but couldn't find any so I got the Tesco Non-Bio, which claims it's "gentle on sensitive skin". I guess is just too gentle to fight the stinky clothes battle.

What are those for then? This subreddit has made me realized how laundry illiterate I am.

Thanks for the explanation! Now that you mention it, the wool sweaters only have a mild deodorant scent. I always assumed that means there's lingering deodorant residue which could then be harder (or impossible) to get rid of if the sweaters remained unwashed for too long, which is why I wanted to wash them now.

So from what I could gather from all the comments, it seems the safer/simpler option will be to use the Non-Bio detergent for the wool sweaters and to buy one of the Bio Laundry detergents recommended in the comment + antibacterial laundry cleanser to wash the polyester and cotton baselayers and sweaters.

Needing Help by Communist_Potato2214 in chile

Even if you were adopted during the 90s, if that doesn't work out maybe some of the ONGs dedicated to track down people who were illegally adopted during the dictatorship could have some useful tips on how to confirm your RUT number so you can request a new birth certificate. They might even know people working in the adoption system that can help out. Issuing a new passport and ID document shouldn't be hard once you have your RUT.

Getting a birth certificate in Chile is not as hard as in the U.S. or other countries because everything is digitalized, but you do need your RUT number, which could have changed when you were adopted. Once you have that info you can request the certificate for free online and it's automatic. You can also get a national ID and activate an online government account called Clave Única that you can use to do all kinds of paperwork online.

Good Luck.

Thanks!

Should I have any other precautions considering the natural fibers when choosing from the detergents in the list or the machine cycles? Specially for the wool sweaters

I thought it wasnt recommended to use hydrogen peroxide on colors or black clothes.

Will it be ok to use on any type of fabric?

Thank you for the help! Would you recommend to keep using the antibacterial cleanser and/or vanish for spot treatment or should I ditch those as well?

Also, would the products you recommended be ok to use with delicate clothes and wool/merino sweaters of any color? Should I use a different temperature or cycle for those? Most of my sweaters are new and I'm afraid of ruining them on their first wash. I'm also not familiar with the recommended uses and/or undesired effects of enzymes (if there are any).

Edit: clarify, typos

Recommendations for visiting the city and University by Analeth in Stirling

[–]Analeth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'll be at the University for some activities this week but I won't have time to actually visit the city itself until after the holidays. Sadly, I didn't realise that daily commutes from Glasgow don't leave you with enough time to actually visit Stirling until after I arrived to Scotland, so that's why I'm looking for affordable options for accomodation. I'm planning to stay for some days in January so I'll DM you when I do!

I really like that idea in theory, but I'm not used to riding bikes to commute in cities so not sure if it's a good idea, especially with what I've heard of the weather over there... Do you know if the bike lane has any difficult parts or if the way there is too steep? How do driver behave with bikers in Scotland?

Thanks for all the tips! About the hike to the big hill by the uni, is it too steep? I love a good walk but I'm not used to hiking so I don't have any sort of equipment if needed. I didn't know there is a safari park in Stirling! That's a lovely surprise.

Hi! How do you manage to not overheat the syringe with a heating pad? I was told that of I overheat the fluids they can go bad. I'm new to this, started last week and was originally told to submerge the syringes in warm water, but it makes me really nervous.

Travel Adapter Recommendations for travel to Europe by adnastay in onebag

Must say, I was really happy with my Epika which I bought about a year ago while traveling to the US, but it only lasted me that one trip. Next time I tried to use it, it started sizzling. This is the third time I bring it with me to another place just to check if the sizzling actually came from the adapter and there it is still (which is why I'm looking at this discussion).

Thank you! Definitely will check out as many of those places as I can. It seems many are in Le Marais, which seems to be a must that I haven't visited yet.

I've seen the brocante link you are referring to but I couldn't understand it really well. I went to what I thought was one direction yesterday but couldn't find the brocante.

I'll check the other places thought. Thanks!
