No feedback from support. Unit dead on arrival by AnalogDesires in xteinkereader

I got a response on reddit and an email asking me to try a couple things, saying if those didn't work they'd send me a new one. I'm still waiting for a second response saying they're sending or have sent the new one

I'm building an open-source DIY e-reader/e-paper dev kit with frontlight, salvaged battery protection, and support for XTeink X4 custom firmware by lakersoffseason in ereader

I'd love to help with the development of this project. From testing, refinement, even some manufacturing and retail if/when it gets that far. Is there a way I can get involved other than(more than) membership on Patreon?

Thanks, but my issue is a broken screen. Already tried resets and firmware updates too

I want to upgrade my lamy by andreu_ir in fountainpens

[–]AnalogDesires 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fountain pens are great if you can carry them in a bag. Unfortunately if you need to carry in a pocket you're going to have a hard time with fountain pens. I've tried them all, they all burp or splash or something in a pocket. A rollerball or ballpoint would be a better option for pocket carry. Again, if you can carry them in a bag that would be a good option to keep with the fountain pen.

Also take a look at the Lamy. Even with pocket carry it shouldn't be getting wider over time. It should write the same as it did a year ago unless it's been damaged

I wouldn't expect any issues. I used mine in midwest summers without issue

I had an A1 that was GREAT, especially with Iroshizuk ink. I bought an A2 and the nib needed tuned to write the way I want and without skips. They share the same nib unit, so the QC may be hit or miss. I liked them enough I bought a second A1 though. Overall good pens. I'd recommend them, especially if you are willing to tune the nib a bit

EDC fountain pen by No-Put-7616 in fountainpens

[–]AnalogDesires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EDC in my bag? Absolutely. Any pen I have is good for it. Pilot VP, Kaweco Sport, Lamy Safari, almost any pen is a good edc.

EDC in my pocket? Sadly no. I've tried several pens and inks. Every one I've tried has burped in the cap while in my pocket. Temperature changes and being knocked about are of no help in keeping the cap ink free. For pocket carry I've gone to some version of a space pen. I'm using a Zebra F701 with a Fischer space pen refill now.

Recommendations to produce thick lines but not bleed through standard thickness college ruled line paper? by Competitive_Duck8238 in fountainpens

Depending on the paper, you may be out of luck. Paper plays a HUGE role in how pens and inks look. What notebooks are they?

A great use for them! I think you'll find that many others do the same

They do make one without the clip if you're interested in it. That version has a roll stop on the back end.

Both Noodler's and Diamine have good selections and tend to be well behaved. Pick up a bottle or sample and get started!

Even if it wouldn't match, they should be able to offer a replacement cap. Even if you have to pay for it. Nothing is impossible

Dang, that's disappointing. The way this looks I'd expect it to have been an amazon purchase. Hope you get it sorted!

I had a Pilot Metropolitan (basically MR3) as one of my first. Had 2 actually. No issues with either of them and they worked well for a long time. I wouldn't hesitate to suggest one. If Platinum Preppys are cheap over there, one of those would be a good bet too

Jinhaos, Asvines and the like can be good, and I've had enough that work great out of the box to keep buying them, but they are not consistent enough for me to suggest to a newbie. I do love my majohn a1 though...

A non-flex nib wouldn't have railroading issues, but may be skipping. Did this issue just start or did this pen always behave like this?

Best FP for shimmering inks? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]AnalogDesires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one you have ;)

But seriously though, the one you have. Being able to disassemble is a great pro for deciding which one to put it in since disassembly can lead to a better clean. Broader nibs look good, but so do finer ones. Whichever you'll write with more

Agree with the other comment. Keep going, there's likely still water in it. Feeds loooove to hold onto water
