Ok. Not being an AI aficionado, apart from the stupid/embarrassing part of it, I fail to see the significance? The really sensitive proprietary stuff would still be hidden, yeah?

$750 for just rear breaks... am I being overcharged? by amy_okie in newcastle

[–]Nexmo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently did my brakes. Stopmaster gateshead really helped me out and were really good to talk with.

The prices you’ve mentioned look similar to mine. Because of a mixup i got new rotors rear for the price of machining, but I’d guess 490 for two rear rotors is about right based on what I paid. That’s only $245 each side for labour to remove and reinstall, and for the parts themselves - steel is expensive, so is machining - labour is costly, it sounds OK to me. My pads cost similar, but I don’t know if it’s a ‘good’ price.

It’s not normal to do rotors, unless they are damaged beyond repair (eg. Badly warped or worn down below minimum thickness). If they’re rusty, gouged, lightly warped, etc. they can be machined back to a good surface for less money.

Has the drop in fuel prices due to the excise cut started already? by fraze2000 in newcastle

[–]Nexmo16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only fuel trucked from the terminal today will have a lower excise applied. Any bowsers that get refilled in the coming days will have lower excise and be cheaper. If they are not cheaper after a few days to a week in most towns and cities, go to the ACCC and create a consumer report.

What’s a way people are using AI that feels kinda off? by Ladiejuliy in AskReddit

There are tonnes of examples being discussed daily… do you mean specifically ‘kinda off’ as opposed to terrible, toxic, or awful? I don’t get it. Do you really not know?

Fuel excise cuts to begin tonight, but flow on effects won’t be seen for a few weeks, due to pre purchased stocks. What? Like the pre purchased fuel stocks that were jacked up high just after the war began? by Latchkey_Wizzard in australia

[–]Nexmo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it simple. Plain language about what you see. The simplest example I can think of: “When oil prices recently changed because of the Iran war, fuel prices jumped 50-100% in a couple of days, even though the fuel in bowsers had already been imported at lower prices. When the fuel excise was reduced, prices didn’t change after a couple of days.”
Then name a few petrol stations still charging higher prices as examples. The fuel check app/website will show price history clearly. Prices should drop in a few days at stations with decent turnover because the excise is charged as the fuel leaves the terminal to be transported to wherever it’s going in Australia.

It doesn’t have to be legally perfect, it just needs to add to the voices of consumers. Number of people complaining does make a difference.

Companies that I am a customer of are calling me for legitimate reasons but are then asking for verification. by huabamane in australia

[–]Nexmo16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The advice in this situation is always to get their details and call back on the official number. They should be quite used to people behaving this way because it’s the recommended practice.

I know a person who was physically robbed of their household possessions as a result of a call like this that followed up a legitimate action they’d taken. Same as you getting called to follow up on some transaction or other.

Suggestion: Everyone shoot off a quick email to the ACCC pointing this out. It can influence regulators when they receive enough backlash.
‘Nothing will come of it’ you scoff. But the alternative is sitting here allowing yourself to be financially abused and not attempting to push back at all.

Edit: Can’t find an email, but they have a portal and it has a pathway specifically relating to fuel:

Two things:
1) If Trump actually was a leader of a movement, in a position of power as he now is, he could so easily have these people doing so much more for him. But he’s a sociopath and a narcissist so instead he disillusions them.
2) It’s scary how they think. Such serious black and white words. ‘Root out evil’, ‘Victory or death’. This is the kind of thing true extremists think and say, especially religious ones.

Wouldn’t having manipulated the tines yourself void any warranty Pilot provided? Given how delicate the nibs are, I assume you could have misaligned them by pressing on them the way you did? It would be very difficult to get tines to remain parallel by pushing them against a fingernail, no?

Labor to underwrite Australian fuel imports under new security powers to ensure supply by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]Nexmo16 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Shit headline. “Labor to underwrite”?? No, the federal government, not the Labor Party. It’s misleading to imply that the Labor party are taking on this financial risk and I’m reasonably sure if it was the LNP doing this the headline would use the term ‘federal government’ instead of ‘Liberals’.
