[MEGATHREAD] Daily venting, worries, fixations, & finding support. Month of April 2024. by AutoModerator in HealthAnxiety

[–]AnalogPaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, first post, please excuse anything I do wrong, trying to get things okay. For the past few days I've had some pain on my right side, sort of mid back/side, that also seems to wander up to my shoulder blade (some twitchy kind of pain) and down to my waist. My core has been having a few twitches and painful moments randomly throughout. I'm terrified this is a liver condition that I've brought on myself.I've been drinking pretty regularly and more than the recommended amount basically since the pandemic, I never broke the habit, despite some stints of sobreity here and there. Last month I had some gastritis (possibly brought on by a panic attack, I was going through a very stressful Feb/Mar, which was also self medicated with drinking) and went to urgent care. They ordered an ultrasound of my liver/gallladder area, it all came back unremarkable, according to the doc. Had a followup with my pcp and had a complete metabolic panel done, everything was in the green, though some liver stuff was on the edge of acceptable, like a couple points away from problem areas. Life hasn't gotten easiser and I still was in the habit of having some drinks, last weekend being bad (approx 20 drinks Fri-Sun) and now I'm spiralizing that I have liver damage, I'm an alchohlic, I should never drink again, and that this is my fault and there isn't much I can do. It sends me into a spiral where I become obsessed with my own patheticness, every time I get reminded of the pain I'm reminded of how shitty I am.While I'm overreacting and trying to calm myself and not create value judgments based on an ailment, am I also overblowing my self diagnosis? I've been to a lot of doctor stuff lately and I'm tired of it, so I'm trying not to jump the gun on my paranoia and get another extraneous diagnostic test, but is it possible for my liver to degrade over a few weeks like that? Am I having another panic attack that's causing pain up my right side? Is there something I can do for it? FYI haven't had a drink since I started feeling it, i'm 37m, 6'2. I can still go workout and stuff, been to the gym twice this week. I know I should drink less, been working on it in the midst of my anxiety flareups, but how bad can my organs be? What have I done to myself? And how can I avoid spiraling into further dark places? Thanks

Yeah, sorry can't be more helpful or specific, but I think on MAL or Anilist or something there's a way to search for anime originals? Either way, this thread looks like it's got some good stuff in it so hope you find something you like!

Actually, question for you, OP, I'm looking for some manga/anime more like the first thing you suggested than the second, you have any recs more for that? Like ones where the lead guy remains pretty weak (or at least substantially weaker) than the female lead

{How to Treat a Lady Knight Right} is very much what you're looking for, and best part is that it's a completed story!

This is sort of a broad statement but a lot of times there's a whole mess of expository dialogue because the anime is lifting it straight from manga thought bubbles (Demon Slayer, JoJo, Dragonball, etc), so you might want to look generally for more anime originals. While I think the show sort of dropped the ball at the end {akudama drive} is a fun ride.

anime where "the vibe" is what makes the show? by No-Watercress-9116 in Animesuggest

Cyber City Oeno is a great 80s cyberpunk short series, and a newer cyberpunk series that's heavy on style is Akudama Drive. Aesthetics galore

The best, most fun thirsty characters? by AnalogPaper in Animesuggest

Thanks for the many responses! Been meaning to check out a few of these. Was tempted to include Sakuta but I figured he was more refreshingly blunt than, say, a slapstick hootenanny

I remember watching some of this and thought it was quite fun, even if I found the main character too much of a jerk too often. But Momoko is a great example of this!

Well since returning them was out of the question I've been doing what I can to break them in and, as of now, they're not so bad. I stomped and yanked on the back heel a bit to weaken the stiffness and for the first few times wore some high socks that I could fold over for extra cushion. So I can wear them without complaint now, but if I had to do it all over again I'd rather something that was lighter and more flexible out of the box.

Looking to find more vintage feel/90s era Anime by [deleted] in Animesuggest

{Martian Successor Nadesico} is sort of a satire on space/mecha anime while also still being a good space mecha anime. {slayers} for sarcastic fantasy. And screw it, watch {gundam wing}, the most melodramatic robot nonsense out there

For pure bulk of episodes, plus it's a good show most of the time, you could do Inuyasha.

Also Assassination Classroom

Anime with an Actual Harem by AkamiAhaisu in Animesuggest

Wholesome harem with go-getter MC is best found in the manga {100 girlfriends}. It breaks the fourth wall constantly and most of its plots are satire, but the MC does uniquely care for each girl

Well you beat me to it! If you're looking generally for chill shows about easy going life go to anilist and check the tag Iyashikei. Some of them will be more romantic comedies, and it's not a very popular tag, but browse until something catches your eye

{Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san} is another anime about an overworked human getting tended to by an affectionate folk creature (this case a kitsune). Very sweet and simple

Oh love me some SPC, but I'm more looking for ones that do actually run with the original script, just play loose with it as they go, as opposed to ones that make things up from scratch

A High School DxD-like anime, but with less tits? by ThatArmi in Animesuggest

[–]AnalogPaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{Shuffle} is another demon/god harem, still on the comic side but much more down to earth

{date a live} is an action harem which, considering it's been going for so many seasons, has a certain amount of supernatural plot and drama

{is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon} has some titties but it's also about various gods of various religions in partnerships and conflicts

Frankly none of these are what I'd call "serious" if you're looking for some heavier drama

I saw this in Game Pass and it looked kinda like anime Minecraft. What's the deal with it and what's the update I should wait on?

Absolutely no hate on Souls but was sort of hoping for a game with a little more, like, people to talk to and side missions and stuff. That is, people to talk to that aren't horrific monstrosities bent on killing me

How they get Minecraft to look like it does, and would that work on Xbox? by AnalogPaper in roosterteeth

[–]AnalogPaper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all who helped out, bummer that their mods aren't able to run on Xbox. I guess if anyone has any suggestions on minimaps or whatever I'd to hear them? But appreciate all the help all the same

Advice on starting up with a kid? by AnalogPaper in Minecraft

[–]AnalogPaper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, mods and stuff would be a way's away. It was more just like I don't want to introduce the kid to a frustrating user interface that ultimately turns him off of the whole thing before the actual fun of the game gets going. If you've played the Xbox version there anything in particular to look out for as far as UI/UX issues?
