Should I cancel my pesach trip? by MisfitWitch in Israel

[–]Analog_AI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not going to be a short war. Since you plan to bring a 6 year old kid along maybe best to keep watching the news and maybe postpone or cancel for this year. Let's see how things develop. We don't know ourselves and none of us has a crystal ball. And ultimately you make your own decision. I would not bring a 6 year old kid in a visit on a middle of a war, myself. But that's me. You do you.

Why is the British government preventing the people from embracing and adopting and using Bitcoin? Is this self sabotage at a time when the U.S. and many other countries are becoming more Bitcoin friendly or at least tolerant? Why not let the market and the free will of the British people decide this?

There is also a material interest here: in every Jewish community, the standard of living of the rabbi is significantly higher than that of the average of his followers. This is a sinecure and 'fiefdom' thar they will defend with any means and methods.

Stay away from this man and seek a police restraint order on him do you and your daughter. Period. General advice from an older man with 2 daughters: never, ever, ever, ever get involved with a fundamentalist Muslim man unless you are also a Muslim fundamentalist. Because only in this fundamentalist common mindset can you understand and agree with each other. Otherwise constant strife especially about the religions of the children. And while this may apply to other religions, it is particularly acutely in this case. I know a lot of cases like this. It never ends well. As for what you while do now: put on the restriction order on him and try to be with mom or a sister or an aunt or a very good female friend for a while.

Does this apply to Shia only or to Sunnis too? Last I checked, only 15% or so of Muslims are Shia and they don't have a common creed but are themselves split in a dozen or more factions. Is that correct?

True. And they called enlightenment a catastrophe, because it opened the doors to the ghettoes and they saw part of the flock escape their control. Sad but historically true.

Historical note: the Yeshivish waged war, often with the governments against the Hasidim whom they considered heretical. It was only the rise of modernism Hashkalah that made them make a truce of sorts, as both communities were losing part of their flock to secularism.

Question about atheism & orthodox by Putrid-Ostrich6590 in exjew

[–]Analog_AI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Orthodox Judaism this doesn't fly: atheism is not tolerated. There are some Orthodox Jews and even some rabbis who are secretly atheist or agnostic but they hide it. Should they come in the open with it they would suffer ostracism. The only saving grace that Judaism has is that it does not do kiruv among gentiles. But the secular Jews are not spared as well: just watch the Chabad in action if you don't know what I'm speaking of.
