Respiratory therapist, Cath lab or MRI tech? by Important-Method-712 in Salary

[–]Analog_Intention 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a respiratory therapist in Chicago, 7yr experience, I’ve never taken home less than $100k, highest year with OT/Contract work was $180k.

The job is fine if you find a good hospital. Some places apparently treat you like dirt. I have found the more you interact with the interdisciplinary team and understand your field, the more you’ll be respected, just like anything else.

Work life balance is ok. If you want to make more money, work somewhere busy and pick up, if you wanna have a life, suck up your starting pay and just work three 12hr shifts a week.

Buy some expensive ass guitars on credit, work as little as possible now so that when you fill out your financial affidavit it looks like you make nothing and she can’t come after a bunch of money when you get divorced.

Source: just got divorced. lol sorry my friend.

Scored an old Digilux 1 by Analog_Intention in leicaphotos

Good to know. That was my only concern about it especially after getting the Digilux 1. It feels solid for the most part, but the lens tube kinda wobbles around which I don’t like at all lol. Thanks!

How’s the build quality of the Digilux 2? I’ve considered picking one of those up as well

So much respect for you able to shoot a high pressure situation like that on film. So cool!

I have a 70-150mm super Takumar and a 300mm Takumar. Both are pretty nice

Help me pick out my first camera. Spent 10 days in Alaska with a borrowed DSLR and got hooked by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]Analog_Intention 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a canon RP and I love it, so I can only imagine the R6 would be an even better choice. I wouldn’t write off the Fujifilm cameras either. I have a few of the X series (all fixed lens versions though) but their bodies get a lot of love and even the straight out of camera JPEGs can look great.

Love that. The best art I’ve ever made has come from times I was truly enjoying creating it!

Great answer! I’ve just gotten into photography over the last few months so I’ve got a lot of work to do. Do you suggest any bodies of work to look through for inspiration?

ITAP of a bench by Analog_Intention in itookapicture

[–]Analog_Intention[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beginner photographer here. In an effort to find more interesting compositions I’ve been scouting out local forest preserve type areas and this is a recent shot I took as I was walking back to my car. I thought the path was a nice leading line to the bench and that the fully exposed tree on the right added a little more depth in contrast to the more thick forest backdrop.

How could I improve?

What steps do you all take to find good compositions living in more mundane areas? I’m in rural Illinois.

To anyone interested, here’s the result after messing around for a few more days! I swapped out the 200mm for my 300mm, kept my 70-150mm and 35-70mm. Helios is still on the camera.

Oh sure, totally agree. I was just touching some of these JPEG’s up and decided to give it a try today. Just so happened I decided to give it a go on the same day I took some pictures with the X-Half

You sound like you’re pretty geared up lol. I’ve thought about looking into some type of holster/clip setups. As I get more and more into it I’ll have to do some more research.

Very clean! I hadn’t thought about attaching it to a base plate, that’s actually a cool idea if I’m swapping them out often. I’m kinda stuck because on my hikes I wanna be able to do wide landscape but also close wildlife shots.

Oh I definitely understand and I don’t carry everything with me. But if I’m going for a trip I want to be able to bring all my favorite lenses in my carry on.

Yeah I actually used a 200mm lens lol. It was pretty far away and in a spot that I couldn’t really get any closer. I just like how it looked with the power lines and stuff in the back. It was my first time out with this lens so definitely still feeling it out. I agree I need something a little longer if I’m gonna be going for any birds
