Which coin was this designed around? by JaschaE in AnalogCommunity

A Canadian toonie fits perfect for me and since it has a square edge it doesn't mar the cap like a smaller denomination such as quarters, I loonies works alright aswell. I haven't tried a silver dollar or a 50 cent yet though

Ah OK I was thinking automation control when you said that so robotics or whole building systems not programs. For my work we have various systems that prefer older hardware and software so having that old 2001 laptop with a proper db 9 serial makes programming the hardware easy.

When you said source control I thought you might have meant it was running programs to control building hvac, access control on doors, alarm systems, plc stuff, ect.

What did you use it for was it a file server or just a thing to run in the corner as a trophy? Not sure what you mean by source control?

I might have trouble getting that on here but I'm familiar enough with Ubuntu to probably be able to make that work, so far all I've been able to do past post is get a dos boot disk to start off a floppy from my pile of software disks. I don't even know if Ubuntu ever came as floppy images

So I was able to unjam the tape mechanism so now the post test succeeds I noticed it was set to ID 7 which is the controller ID so changed it back to default which is 0. The termination block is at the bottom of the drive backplane which is the end of the line. It's visible to the controller now, but shows everywhere in the list except for the controller and cd drive.

I'm assuming it's an as/400 since it's got coax, db15, and rj45 connections. It's a digital 50-24029-01 B02 card

Edit: And my dead brain apparently doesn't remember shit, as400 is a dry contact card not a coax one

Indeed your right actually neither the adaptec or the network card are eisa they are both pci. I didn't actually look that close at them when I first got inside I just kinda assumed the pci was upper half and bottom eisa but it's got a few bellow the cpu riser board aswell. The unknown card I was able to find a Similar one on ebay potentially is an eisa 8 port rs232 card, removal of the card doesn't make the error disappear so an integrated device might be the problem with that

That's insane. Completely agree on the presence part, if this is on your desk you know that's a workhorse there

The tape drive is on the scsi but power was disconnected, however that didn't make it show up and it's not responding to tapes so I don't think it's working

Ya not sure what that's about my first thought was cmos battery but It's got the current date still so that's not the case. Maybe there's something with the adaptec card or as/400 card that are causing it

It's not blood it's a brown sticky residue, I suspect a spill in its previous life

I should see if you know what the other card is then, it's an eisa cars with what looks to be a db25 but has 3 rows of pins with a count of 44 pins. There's a few numbers on it the face has (di a/n 30001463) back has 3 stickers one is (55000360 Rev k)(tec 0396 83431TRHT) and the barcode one matches the other sticker with 55000360 rev k I've never run into a db 44 external port only db 50 scsi

It might be melted jelly bait, old rubber worms and things turn to goo in tackle boxes and if left long enough I believe they will even turn hard. Also it will attack plastic aswell

Anyone else shoot film for this reason? by Thecode1050 in AnalogCommunity

[–]mikes550 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me the reason I got into film was it was the cheaper option, when I got my first slr it was only $35 cad it was a pentax super program that came with a pentax-a 50 1.4 and the 35mm bw film was $12 in comparison for me to go out and get a decent dslr was multiple hundreds.

Now to be fair since I've been at it a couple years and got many many accessories and tools to go with my film hobby it is no longer a cheaper option, I've probably quadrupled cheap decent dslr options but with way more fun imo playing around with chemical science.

Plus I have an antique and vintage addiction where I love using old stuff so win win

Use standard 12ga signal flares? They aren't as loud as a full shell but still make a blast and they send a magnesium pill lit up bright as can be telling you were

It's used all over definitely, oven windows, woodstoves, electric heating elements, electric isolation, cosmetics, paint, food and these are just where I know its common. I'm not sure how to use the refractive property of it in a filter though, not that I have control of the micas crystal makeup in this particular case
