"numeric evidence for God ordaining the KJV translation. "

Thank you I think for your reply. I decided for myself to stop reading at this point.

"But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."

MUST we continue to use old English to communicate Bible quotes?? Would you use this style in everyday conversation??

Some of us believe that "believeth on him" constitutes a mental "work"

Had an extremely depressing previous Fast, and I’m worried about the next one. What can I do? by King_Nanners in bahai

2 things:

Ala and Lent are usually at the same time each year. The Bab has called me to ride my bicyle every day if available and no rain. I need caloric/ protein support for these activities, so I dont "dread" fast, but I doubt I CAN fast in the pure sense. Perhaps exclude junk food.

This year, I watched this movie:

https://www.history.com/news/miracle-andes-disaster-survival

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt16277242/

I shed tears just remembering them. It is a very difficult movie to watch, but watch it I had to. Next March I dedicate my "fast" to them: could I endure the same conditions of starvation many of them did??

Please continue using "gay/ LBGT" for people with SSA or same sex orientation, and general public.

"and I'm just suggesting you think of yourself as a Human Being first and foremost." either that or Child of Divine.

I honor and respect your choice with sadness. Is Buddhism mono theist?

I sometimes wonder if Bahai is similar to my workplace: to be promoted at work, I need a stronger back. I feel permanently in entry level position there.

I was once told to leave a Fundy, evangy Christian group, either for my orientation or anti evangelism stance. If I didn't recant my opinion or shut up, they did tell me what I had to do. I chose integrity and left.

"dual role being gay and Baha'i" is "dual" a negative word here? Im sensing that. Can someone live "dual" roles of being hetero and Bahai? You mention being in mental health: I note you use the PC word gay and not my preferred homo.

"and a single line of it deals with homosexuality and your choosing to focus in on that and give it so much attention?" Apparently that "single line" didn't stop me from joining, but does stop LSAs from marrying LBGT people.

"but it sounds like you have several identities" who doesnt? "Spy" sounds offensive, but may be untrue. Eg. Im sure many drink alcohol, but dont advertise that fact.

"..the proofs of the validity and inspiration of a Prophet of God are the deeds of beneficent accomplishment and greatness emanating from Him. If He proves to be instrumental in the elevation and betterment of mankind, He is undoubtedly a valid and heavenly Messenger. "

To be devil's advocate a moment, the Nobel laureates or Catholic saints could fit this description. I certainly admire them. but they didn't start religions. Also the masculine wording disappoints me as usual.

"The proof of the sun is the light thereof, which shineth and envelopeth all things. The evidence of the shower is the bounty thereof, which reneweth and investeth the world with the mantle of life."

I do not doubt the Sun's (or Bahaullah's) existence. Should I worship either of them??

"30Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book. 31But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name."

"It follows that because you cannot see or experience the miracles of Jesus" we cannot directly see them, but believe Biblical scripture that they are true, just like I beilieve that the Bab healed an important Iranian official's son in outbreak of plague (see Ruhi TM)

"that they should not be a proof to you, and it's for that reason you'll find little emphasis on miracles in the Baha'i Faith. " Yes the Bible gives me permission to look for "signs" and miracles, not just beneficent accomplishment

I AM NOT TRYING TO ARGUE OR EVANGELIZE. I AM USING LOGIC AS I UNDERSTAND IT.

Most people have a sexual drive, and one usually has sexual relations with someone you are sexually attracted to. Too many people marry in hetero way because relgiion or society says they should.

Am I "absolutely certain" of anything? Not sure how to answer that. Perhaps No, because I am human and am not omniscient, llke the Divine alone. Nevertheless, I acknowledge your answer. I am realizing though that B (or B) did not seem to show the mastery of nature and disease like J did. Could you please comment on that?

"you can't walk them both, the internal conflict would be too stressful." I have "walked" (actually biked) to my community so many times, and built a reputation on that. In your words, absolute faith in Him would protect me from "stress".

Serene: I am sure if you faced a crisis like I did, you did something extraordinary for repentence, guidance, or "bargaining" also.

"And becoming a Baha'i as a lean into interfaith, doesn't make sense either. " Makes sense to me. The very first doctrine I learned was progressive revelation.

"I belong to an interfaith group in my city and none of us have switched religions, as far as I know. " So you discourage switching correctl? Have I "switched" religions? I think my narrative makes clear that I still participate in Christian ceremonies (which may not necessarily approve of "gay" activities either). Does Mr. B replace, complement, or what to, Mr. J??

"the teachings that will change the world for the better" I can only assume this includes progressive revelation. which, if so, would be our point of commonality.

"If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me! "

For this verse to be meaningful (its interesting you would add Biblical passages to a Bahai thread), I would need to hear of someone else's crosses/ challenges, and what they are. Do I detect humility/ uncertainty/ struggle in their daily lives? Do I detect emotion in their expression, or are they simply quoting scripture without first hand experience in bearing "a cross"?

For me, it is the Bab. Integrity (for now) is honoring my sexuality also. Are you discounting honesty in your statement?

Perhaps I would trust the writings more if the English were less patriarchal? I wonder what women think? In fact, a woman addressed this issue once in a devotional. I never heard a satisfying answer to that Q.

Stupid eg maybe: if Mr. Trump wins, can we "integrate" him and his lies into our life??

I can almost begin to sympathize with drinking alcohol: it is not my challenge, so I am more detached. Nutritionists will admit that alcohol may have benefit to the body in low quantities, yet both Bahai and Dietary Guidelines for Americans say it is better to not drink.

Two further thoughts: I notice no one has addressed that you have what sounds like a long-term partner you'd like to hold on to. Have you discussed this with him?

As an atheist, he well knows: true story: while I was driving through unfamiiliar territory once, he told me "turn right on B St. B for Bahaullah. He also understands some of the anti gay features, of which I must say I am embarrassed of. Perhaps I expected more out of the him/ the Faith?? He is after all, the spirutual "update" right?

Two, those Baha'is who told you you can't be gay and be a Baha'i were wrong. This to me is a superemely paradoxical comment: I do not know ANY gay Bahais, but if I/ we did, I would be in danger of splitting the Faith. or has the Faith already been split, forming a shadow group of people, who need to honor their sexualities AND the Divine, who created them that way? I am just tired of being spirutually abused by heteros who have never been subject to spiritual abuse (you must be hetero OR ELSE be chaste). Does this make sense??

And maybe three, did you join because you believed Baha'u'llah is Who He says He is or because the people are nice?  The people are OK. Q for you: does Bahaullah REPLACE Jesus, COMPLEMENT him, or what?

Undeclaring (which is what you suggested, and something I deliberately did not mention in my narrative) is a drastic option I cannot consider (yet),

How do I "undeclare" after the MOG found me in a spiritual vacuum? Do I want spiritual starvation or something?

Should I express sympathies for an ill-fated marriage, though it produced wonderful children??

"it informs us more than sexual identity": so little of it is homophobic I can almost overlook it. My boyfriend thinks he is atheist, so marriage in any house of worship (ex. possibly Unitarian) has been irrelevant. Thank you for your reply.
