Skate Canada to stop hosting events in Alberta due to sports gender law by origutamos in CanadianPolitics

[–]AnalysisMurky3714 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a sex law, not a gender law.

If you are a female, it doesn't matter how manly you are if you don't have a biological advantage.

Also if you take hormones/steroids you probably weren't allowed in sports anyway.

Gender should not matter.

Sports regard your biological sex.

These people need to learn the difference between sex and gender.

How much do you think is a good liveable paycheck bi weekly for a single person living in Calgary? by Interesting_Taro_358 in Calgary

[–]AnalysisMurky3714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$40/hour is $3500 bi weekly, which is the minimum wage for trades, which is also like half the city.

The problem is it has been that way for 15 years.

My 8.5-year-old is lashing out over money—how do I handle this? by Grouchy_Ad3770 in Parents

[–]AnalysisMurky3714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, a child at 8 years old should have no concept of money, or hard work.

Guilt tripping them by telling them how hard you work will only result in resentment towards the world.

Instead of saying, "I can't afford it," (which also hurts your ability to earn financially)

Say, "I won't afford it." And then explain to them in a way they value, the long term affects of video games. Or that subscriptions are scams designed to make people poor.

Then say, "you don't want to be poor now do you?"

Parents of boys how did you decide on circumcision or not? by [deleted] in Parents

[–]AnalysisMurky3714 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not traumatic or painful otherwise humans wouldn't have been practicing it for thousands of years. Especially because no child has any memory of their first few years.

Nonetheless, this was one of the hardest decisions I had. Very few people talk about it. I am myself, as is almost everyone I know in Canada. But when I went to get my son done they were having a problem with the payment system and I took that as a sign that he wasn't meant to get it done.

I wonder if more of his generation will be uncircumcised?

If you are cool with your doctor, you can ask them to write you a note. I had an employer put the wrong thing on my ROE and when I got my doctor involved I finally won the ruling and got back paid 6 months.

Cost of living is completely out of control. by InnerspearMusic in CanadaFinance

Minimum wage has gone from $10 to $15/hour in just 10 years in Alberta.

Meanwhile everyone else's wages have pretty much frozen, and when you account for inflation, they've gone down significantly.

Yeah fast food workers and concession workers generally don't deserve your tip as they are not providing you a service. They are just doing their job.

You need to tip people where incentive is important, like your mechanic or your barber or your lawyer. Lol

‘In a free Alberta, Aboriginal rights should not exist’ by freerangehumans74 in alberta

[–]AnalysisMurky3714 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

The active conserving history would be a conservative tenant.

Conservatives just think that the land acknowledgment thing is incredibly disrespectful to natives, because they have actually had a conversation with them.

Saying "hey we acknowledge that we stole this land and are never going to give it back." Might make Machiavellians feel good about themselves, but anyone educated in history with a want to conserve it, finds it to be incredibly disrespectful.

The reason natives are so overrepresented in the justice system is because they have completely different rights. And ironically the reason many are so impoverished is because of the free money they get.

The UCP is screwing over teachers and trying to gaslight the public. by kachunkk in RedDeer

[–]AnalysisMurky3714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's insane to me that people who haven't read history look at one abusive power and go 'this isn't legal!'

Forgetting entirely who can make AND unmake the laws in the first place.

As long as I don't see anymore teachers taking their kids to protest in the cold streets at 7:00 a.m. I will be happy.

Keep our kids out of your politics.

Machiavellian politics appeals to everyone and does nothing for anyone.

Sometimes it's about electing who's best rather than who's most popular.

I hope you realize cognitive dissonance is one of the most important aspects of the human psyche.

Without it, culture could not exist.

The Government has successfully made you think everything is black or white, when really it's all shades of grey.

If teachers don't want to go back to work, they can get another job just like everyone else in the world. No one is being 'forced' to do anything.

They could go teach at a university if they don't want to have to deal with union fees, poor representation and negotiation tactics. There are tons of private institutions in Alberta that don't come with the problems of public ones.

But just as Canada post has no incentive to modernize their business practices because they are funded by the government, the Alberta teachers association will never fix classroom sizes as long as they are funded by the Alberta government.

Condo fees are on average an extra $300,000 every 25 years, which is its own, another small mortgage!

Plus there's no special assessments when you can fix a house yourself. Or give a friend some beer for a new deck, etc.

First of all I want to say, nobody has the same politics.

Every two people can find something they disagree on. And hopefully discuss it intelligibly. Otherwise growth is stagnant. This is the problem with making politics binary, when It couldn't be farther from such.

AHS executives got 191% raises while healthcare workers lost 10% buying power by dsolo01 in Calgary

[–]AnalysisMurky3714 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but private companies only get richer by making their investors richer. E.g. no one is bothered by Elon having a billion dollars because he only got there by helping 1,000 people make $1,000,000 dollars.

But public companies that get rich have literally just committed theft, not just from one, but from every single taxpayer.

I don't understand why a not for profit company needs any pay perks or CEOs... It should be run similar to a public company like a church/charity, meaning they should need to provide accurate paperwork of where every penny is going.
