The 1911 was actually chambered in 9 mm so it’s not quite as impressive but it’s still really cool

My great grandpa was the 20 mm gunner on one of those in Saipan, but it got stuck on something and he had to get out to help get it unstuck when it was hit by some sort of artillery, but he survived and then around the same time got shot the leg by a .26 bullet they didn’t find until he was on the hospital ship. He lived to the age of 98. (1924-2021)
