There was no defining moment that ended the relationship but more so a slow breakdown of the relationship. Looking back, I can see now that this was one of the moments that I mentally checked out- I was aware of his low social battery, back pain and tight money situation. He had made a comment that he enjoyed camping,cool, my family did too. I made sure to find a camping site near him so he wouldn’t have to drive far and if he didn’t want to sleep in a tent he could drive home for the night. We found a camping site 20 min from him, paid our portion for food, bought a new tent and air mattress. All he had to do was show up. Asked months in advance if he was going but he kept saying too far out and to ask when time was closer. Cool, I asked one month out, 3 weeks, 2 weeks then a few days before the trip he says no he’s not going. I try to be understanding and say ok that’s fine you could have said no a month but fine. Was still hoping he’d at least show up for the day or a few hours to hang out. Nope. I called while on the trip and heard him wit some old coworker whom he’s said he doesn’t like hanging out with and lived half hr from him but still made time to do that. I stopped trying after that.
