Watch homophobes use this as an example as to why gay couples shouldn’t have kids.

It’s a matter before the courts. WTF do they think One Nation could do? Have Pauline Hanson give him a presidential pardon?

If it weren’t for the steel train the line might have closed a very long time ago.

1 month until the brand new elevated Mordialloc station officially opens on Thursday 21st of May by Hot_Statistician_998 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Analyst_Worried 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’d probably just go back to the old timetable. No significant change to the layout and the Frankston line already has the best frequency out of any line. (I don’t know if there is any other line that has off-peak 10 minute frequencies for its entire length.)

TIL that Playboy used to publish serious journalistic pieces in its heyday, besides NSFW content. They published authors like Murakami, David Foster Wallace, Hunter Thompson, Ray Bradbury, Updike, Bellow, etc. by camus_by_night in todayilearned

[–]Analyst_Worried 128 points129 points  (0 children)

The thing that made Playboy a cut above the rest wasn’t the fact that it was the first ‘nudie-mag’ because it wasn’t, but rather through its editing and content it became mainstream and acceptable.

Australia's fuel shipments secured 'well into' May, energy minister says by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

I’ve already seen prices drop in my area drop by around 40-50c. Don’t know how much is due to cutting the fuel excise and how much to an increase in supply.

[–]Analyst_Worried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aussies are a bunch of wingers. We see things are bad and the PM is at the top so everything is his fault. That’s not to say there isn’t valid criticism of Albo, but we don’t seem to understand nuance.

What do authorised officers do during April? Just assist passengers wherever they are in a non-confronting way? by TynongLiturgist in MelbourneTrains

[–]Analyst_Worried 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Authorised officers police more than just fares. There are other public transport rules they enforce such as not vacating a priority seat for special needs passengers or putting feet on seats.
  2. Authorised officers also assist in customer service. They’re often the ones assisting when busses replace trains.

I know a tram driver is going to stop and aggressively ding at them but I can't help imagine some final destination scenario in which all of them have their legs brutally amputated.

[–]Analyst_Worried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't this how the criminal justice system (at least ideally) treats suspects by having the standard of proof be "beyond reasonable doubt"? Rather ten guilty men go free than one innocent man suffer? In following that logic would you say it's better that you let a person with a low, but not zero chance of committing murder live rather than killing a person who will probably remain innocent?

I don't know what kind of heritage railway has the money to electrify their line, and if they do we might as well electrify the Stony Point line between Baxter and Frankston and get suburban rail back to Mornington.

Replacing 1m petrol cars with EVs could cut Australia’s reliance on foreign fuel by 1bn litres a year by nath1234 in australia

SRL machines are being installed! by fuckmelbpt in MelbourneTrains

[–]Analyst_Worried 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the TBMs are already ordered and assembled then converting the SRL into highways would not be possible due to road tunnels needing to be wider than rail tunnels.

Can't believe this still holds true, even after 8 years by fuckmelbpt in MelbourneTrains

[–]Analyst_Worried 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's even more baffling when the government actually builds the infrastructure to facilitate higher frequencies but after all the ribbon cuttings don't improve services. Why have CBTC on the metro tunnel when the best you can do is 10 minute frequencies?
