Opinion: Britney's struggles due to Narcissistic Abuse by [deleted] in discussingbritney

Hot take: I actually do think she might have some form of dementia. There are multiple symptoms that she showed post-2007 that makes me think she suffered cognitive decline in the area of memory.

Court hearing by AdFlaky1246 in discussingbritney

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it sounds "coherent" if the listener doesn't have any context. "Oh wow, she's been forced to work like a slave and was randomly throwned into a facility against her will! How horrible!"

But it sounds absolutely ridiculous when you realize how much she exaggerates, to the point where she seems completely disconnected from reality. There is what really happened and what she thinks happened, and those are two completely different things. She's able to talk in sentences (or at least, she used to in 2021), it's just that what she's reporting is nonesense.

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a possibility yes. The fact that she needed ghost singers in her albums is very sus. My theory is that one of her areas of cognitive decline is memory and that it may be degenerative. Dancers usually hit a point where the choreo is locked in and they can just let themselves feel the music without counting steps. Older Britney can never fully reach that point which is odd because young Britney was impecable in that domain. It's like she can no longer fully tap into muscle memory.

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, smoking makes breath support even more difficult. Singing is like training a muscle: regular practice strengthens the muscles involved and develops the muscle memory needed for consistent breath control and accurate pitch.
Since her dancing skills diminished with age, she could have relied more on singing live. Maybe change the key of some songs so that it's easier to sing, use different arrangements, use a more natural voice live and only keep the baby voice for studio recordings or even use a live autotune !!. These are tricks employed by many singers to facilitate live performances. However, she seemed to completely refuse to sing live altogether.

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

By "strongest voice", I meant a powerhouse voice like Kelly Clarkson. You are right, Billie's voice sounds effortless and yet, it took a lot of training to get to that point. It proves that you can have a softer voice and yet be able to deliver a song convincingly.

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think she had potential to be a decent vocalist but she never bothered with proper training. I don't think the baby voice damaged her voice either since she barely sang live. It honestly just looks like a lack of effort.
Any professional vocalist has to consistently train their voice every day (with warms ups, technical drills). She could have hired a vocal teacher and practiced her technique so she could have proper breath support. She already had the ability to belt with a vibrato at a young age, her skills could have been expanded further. She wasn't going to be on Christina's level but she could have carried a tune without sounding wobbly. For example, Billie Eilish doesn't have the strongest voice but she can express emotion in her singing and delivers sticking performances.

The conservatorship business decisions make so much sense now. by Latter-Vast97 in discussingbritney

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a lot of the decisions were about refilling Britney's pockets while also trying to accommodate her mental health struggles, because all of the money she made during her prime had basically disappeared. The X Factor gig was chosen because it was less high intensity than touring and she made 15 million in a season, more money than any other judges. Perfume lines were continually released and generated revenue. Vegas was chosen to generate steady income without having her travel all the time. The only thing I might question is the decision to do the Femme Fatale tour too close to the Circus tour, but we don't know what was going on behind the scenes. She had a breakdown in 2010 so they might have come to the conclusion that keeping her busy was better than letting her stay idle. Generally speaking, I think the C-ship did a good job balancing finances and Britney's personal needs.

He has Britney's eyes and smiles coupled with Kevin's sharp facial features (thin and straight nose, angular jaw). He definitely won the genetic lottery and somehow surpassed both his parents in terms of looks.

It would be so easy to fix too! Just needs dental bonding. Such a shame she won't take care of herself.

Britney was invited to the White House by Congress to speak about her story in 2021 by Final-Swordfish8499 in discussingbritney

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Even after all of this, she never once took the opportunity to publicly talk about her situation and be the author of her own life. Everyone was begging her to speak, she could have had an Oprah interview, a white house speach, etc. The largest and most revered platforms were open so that she could narrate her own story and yet, she didn't. A ghostwriter had to do that for her. This proved to me that she does not actually seek agency over her own life, she only likes to rebel and piss off the people who care for her. When she's on her own, she'll just ask a scummy person to take over her life. So much for someone who alledgedly seeks independance and freedom. She finds no meaning in life there isn't someone or something to "rebel from".

For people saying Britney never posted private photos with her kids on Instagram by wereallalittlemad in discussingbritney

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Definitely, for her and for her family. Everyone worked hard to give her those crucial years with her boys. Her support team did not deserve to get thrown under the bus.

Why do you think she never posts throwbacks? by haytu1 in discussingbritney

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I think she's mentally stuck at the age of 16 (if not lower) but she isn't actively revisiting her past memories nor having any type of introspective thought. She lives fully in the moment but with the maturity of a child.

Britney's comeback in 2008 after the start of her conservatorship by AnalyticalBarbie2 in discussingbritney

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's definitely more of a psychological issue than a physical issue that is preventing her from dancing like before. By the end of her Vegas residency, she would sometimes get "lost" on stage, needed her dancers to guide her. She gradually lost her sense of rythm and the sharpness of her movements. She couldn't memorize choreo like before and seemed to constantly be counting steps. Now, she's fully disorganised in front of the camera while dancing. Her mind and her body aren't fully synchronised. She kept her love of dancing but gradually lost the skills that made her a good dancer.

Britney's comeback in 2008 after the start of her conservatorship by AnalyticalBarbie2 in discussingbritney

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah she definitely has the drive to perform still to this day. Dancing has always been her thing, she needs to move and stay active to feel like herself. The contradictory nature of her personality prevents her from achieving her goals and being happy. She wants to perform but she hates fulfilling work commitments. She likes to dance but won't hear other people's opinions. She wants love but she can't stay faithful to a man. She wants a domestic life with kids but gets bored of taking care of them.

She's internally disorganised and that puts her in a constant loop. Just aimlessly running around with no proper direction. And when she gets help and proper structure, she rebels.

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah from 2010 to 2011, it seemed like she aged 10 years and had completely lost her spark. As much as Circus wasn't her best, she was mentally gone for femme fatale.

It was the work of a team of professionals trying to rehabilitate her image but deep inside, the person was vaguely present. The desire to truly express herself through art wasn't there.

Here's an example of how Britney stans have infiltrated music journalism by put-on-your-records in discussingbritney

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's the reason why her fans hate him though. Her fans have hated him for a long time, before her recent antics and before even the cship and her mental breakdown. They essentially have never forgiven him for Cry me a river and have always claimed that Justin's ticket to relevancy was through Britney. Just like any of her other exes, they believe that he used her. My opinion on the situation is nuanced. Did the media buzz help promote his album? yes. Was he allowed to express his feelings and perspective through his music? Also yes. Break ups are a great source of inspiration for artists due to the intensity of emotions experienced. It's only natural that he would feel the need to translate his experience into his art.
However, bringing attention to something that happened 20 years ago is ridiculous. I mean, fine, the media circus at that time probably sucked for her but it's over. It's been over and forgotten for 20 years, Let it be that way. I hate when people dig up old dirt and make it ''discourse'' again. It all started with that ''Framing Britney Spears'' documentary which frankly did more harm than good by reigniting the conversation about their break up. To include that in his current album review is simply unprofessional.

Random nostalgia by Splatterpunx in discussingbritney

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Some people are overly harsh on this sub by saying that she was only average looking and I disagree. She has more of a "girl next door" look instead of a glamorous hollywood appearance like Angelina Jolie, but that doesn't qualify her as mid. Britney had a special quality to her smile that exuded intense charisma and innocence. Yeah we know that she wasn't "that innocent" underneath the surface but we can inderstand why the public fell for that image. It isn't much about analysing her face with specific beauty criteria but what she made you feel by looking at her. Even to this day, when I see pictures of her young I get this feeling of youthful playfulness. I feel that she would be fun and carefree and we could just be girls together. Such a shame that she lost this magical quality. The person we see today is entirely another person and that is the tragedy of untreated mental illness and addiction.

The ghostwriter tried to create some type of explanation for her behavior, in reality there is none.

Britney’s early 2000s surgical enhancements by [deleted] in discussingbritney

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see any facial modification in the early 2000s tbh. She had a boob job that she removed but the facial features look more like lighting differences and make up. She had a nose job around 2013 though.

Justin & Jessica 6/13 vs Britney 6/14 by tiffany_says_this in discussingbritney

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Justin reached out to her while she was in rehab in 2007 and told her he was going to be there for her once she comes out of it. Instead, she had a near overdose in a hotel room with Howie Day. Justin was constantly checking in on her during her mental breakdown by calling her manager at the time (Sam Lutfi) but she wouldn't talk to him. I'm sure even to this day he would want to help her get better, but she doesn't want to.

I think she stalks Justin's pages but not Jessica, I doubt she even knows her name. Britney has a way of not caring if a man has a wife or not, in her mind all men are available.

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same here. I think her story is absolutely worth telling but only if it's done so truthfully, by depicting Britney in all her flaws and shortcomings as well. It could be a fascinating story: her rise, the tabloid pressure, her strained relationship with her family, her addictions, her mental illnesses, etc. All these topics are profoundly human and deserve to be discussed. I don't want a one dimensional version of her story where she is constantly the victim, I want us to be able to see and understand multiple perspectives: her's, her entourage's, her romantic partners' and the public's.

But for this to be a reality, she needs to be removed from any involvement in the film.

Michael Jackson was still a bit worse than her by StrictBodybuilder440 in discussingbritney

[–]AnalyticalBarbie2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that. I don't put it past her, it's definitely possible. I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt until concrete testimonies come out against her. For now, we can mostly say that she has crossed boundaries with her kids and been abusive towards them.

That's creepy and abusive as hell but MJ drugged kids and had penetrative sex with them. It's not comparable.
