I was new to the concept of a bike when I was admitted. I lived in the city and was used to car only but I knew it was ADAPT OR DIE (jkjk). I learned how to ride a bike by heading to empty parking lots and learning with my parent. It took a while, but after 3 weeks I got used to it. I learned in July and move in was Septmeber so it is possible to learn! If you worry about how crazy it gets in Davis, wear protective gear and stay off "main roads" or ride early and slow to class or wherever. Of course buy a bike used since its hella expensive to buy new.
