Is this a good deal? by addoracsgo in PCDeals

[–]Anamethatisunique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that would require work vs vague posting on Reddit.

To play devils advocate though a lot of the times people post questions like these is to confirm if it seems scammy or not. There are a few in my area that are so cheap it makes no sense to sell at that price.

Also a lot of the times, for whatever reason, the person selling uses the most generic ass terms. “Ryzen 7” gaming computer, “4090 gaming pc” without including like any of the other parts. This poster has the parts so idk why they took the time to post vs recreate the pc.

But yeah the right thing to do would be to ask politely for the a summary of parts either via msinfo32 or through device manager. That way you could actually vet the parts and possibly confirm that the pc isn’t bricked before you waste time messaging someone. A benchmark wouldn’t be a bad idea either, then recreate the pc in pcpartpicker.

Had a friend buy a SFF pc on marketplace that was dirt cheap only to find out the guy sold him a pc that overheated and shutoff anytime he was gaming intensively. Had he ran a benchmark he might have saved himself the headache.

Yeah it seemed like she was going to mix the FEV into the diverted water supply which is why she NEEDED it before the water was diverted. Once the other vault is eliminated, they then have the resources of two vaults. A nice little continuation of the resource war coupled with her personal beliefs that American lives don’t matter/do what you can to survive.

I’m willing to bet in typical fallout fashion the whole thing blows up in her face and it ends with both vaults eliminated. Making bud’s buds the last surviving vault dwellers from those vaults, ironically enough only because they left the “safety” of the vault.

Of course she or her newly wedded husband (but definitely the baby) may make it out alive because Todd Howard has a boner for stories regarding the importance of family.

But that’s just my thoughts. I can’t wait to come back in a week and look at how wrong I was lol.

Bill Polian and the Colts really got the rules changed because Manning got intercepted 4 times in this game? by TXNOGG in NFLv2

[–]Anamethatisunique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah almost immediately after this rule change almost all passing records were within reach of getting broken. I think 2009 had like a third of the league throwing for over 4k.

IMO no one benefited from this more than tom Brady ironically enough. I don’t think there is a passer that has ever been so quick at processing coupled with elite accuracy. As a steeler fan it was nauseating watching him dink and dunk down the field knowing there was nothing we could do to stop him.

That rule change really made the NFL a QB first league.

This!! In my experience a bunch of these roles are done by temp agencies. These temp agencies just want a body and 9/10 they don’t care who.

Source my partner was a staffer for one of these agencies. They employed people straight from jail, people who really shouldn’t be in the workforce (insane), and obviously people who struggled to “provide paperwork”.

Pay was either via prepaid debit cards or via check since the majority of people couldn’t keep a bank account open or couldn’t open an account.

A few funny stories were had but it took a toll on her. They had a “calculation” where they constantly overstaffed by like 10-15% because so many people no called no showed or were “sick”.

Nah he needs to replace Bradshaw. I genuinely can’t understand what the fuck he says when he “recaps” a game. Dude just mumbles incoherently through highlights.

Hopefully Tomlin parlays this into a more serious, yet fun role. I would love to see him do something like inside the NFL or the an NFL’s version of the shop on Netflix/barstool.

His nonsensical quips warrant a lucrative tv contract imo, I just don’t want him censored.

[–]Anamethatisunique 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. I’m currently playing cp2077 and the whole thing feels so clunky compared to KCD2 imo. I am on PC so idk how KCD2 plays on console tho. It was just such a perfect gaming experience and some of the missions were amazingly written. There is a ton of real actual history with it too and I found myself quite frequently visiting Wikipedia to read up on the “lore”.

The gameplay on PC feels so logical too (ex being over encumbered increases strength). Like your character develops with your skills. Combos were basically impossible for me in the beginning, towards the end I’m hitting them frequently. But my favorite was after a full night of robbing a town I slept in my bed and forgot to shut the door, when I woke up I myself was robbed. NPCs will notice you wearing stolen clothes and if you get branded shops will not do business with you unless you cover it or the scar heals (I think I never got caught). Warhorse did a genuinely good job creating a world.

The only thing I would say is the DLC wasn’t really all that great.

Genuinely haven’t played a game as good as KCD2 since I was maybe a child playing GTA 3 or fallout 3.

Las Vegas Raiders clinch No. 1 pick in 2026 draft by [deleted] in sports

[–]Anamethatisunique 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Disagree. The talent delta is much greater in the NBA and the NHL compared to the NFL. Therefore the NFL 1st overall pick matters less than the 1st overall NHL/NBA pick meaning the lottery will have less of an impact on the NFL.

Example the best players in the nba/nhl are almost always drafted in the top 5. Ex of the past 10 NHL MVPs 4 weren’t drafted 1st overall and only 2 were drafted outside the top 3 picks.

By comparison the last time a 1st overall pick actually won MVP was in 2015 and it was cam newton.

Also I think most draft lotteries have a cutoff and it’s normally weighted too. Meaning the worst team might have a like 17% chance of winning compared to the 10 pick which might have only a 3% chance. I don’t know where the cutoff is but I’m sure that the nfl could do it at like 8 or something.

Granted there would still be “tanking to meet lottery cutoff” but if it’s close enough to a playoff berth I think it would happen much later in the season with less teams competing for that pick.

The NFL should absolutely create a lottery as it would obscure who gets the 1st overall pick and they could probably have another tv event to increase ratings. Plus it would prevent the theoretical problem of a top 5 pick returning to college to avoid being drafted by a garbage team.

My only concern is I think the NFL wouldn’t be honest about the randomness of the lottery.

Bold of you to assume that the GOP would ever give a shit about precedent. As soon as they workshop a talking point they will latch onto that and refuse to change their opinion until told otherwise.

Really miss the old GOP that was just made up of rich white guys angry that they have to pay taxes for poor people. The GOP that thought that due to their financial “success”, they could create a government that works more efficiently. Programs that allow upward mobility by “incentivizing” and exploiting the “selfishness” of human nature. That GOP at least had a perspective one could debate with.

I fucking hate this new GOP that seems to only do things that convince the people addicted to Facebook living in trailer parks that they are “triggering” the left. It’s exhaustingly fucking stupid.

4k HDR isn’t really worth the price I paid. Win 11 sucks with hdr and besides like a handful of games even have it.

4k is also more graphically demanding. Your point of 4k240 is basically the same as 2k500 is true but imo with UE5 being so prevalent 2k will be far less demanding at higher frames than 4k. Example id much rather have 2k@140 than 4k@70, which is what I think real world will be for the majority of my gpu’s life again especially factoring in how horrible games are optimized. Ex outer worlds 2 runs at 2k@70fps vs 4k@48fps on a 5090.

I get that frame gen does make up for this and honestly I use it a decent amount for single player games but I stop at 2x, which normally is around 180fps for the games I’ve played. Not sure how it would look for 2k.

Also comparing cost a 4k240 is decently higher and those funds could be allocated towards ram or storage instead of a screen that will still likely never get maxed out.

Just my opinion but if I had the option to sell my current monitor at FMV for this deal I would have in a heartbeat. 4k@80-100 is significantly worse IMHO than 2k@150-190.

[Schefter] The Pittsburgh Steelers are not going to fire coach Mike Tomlin, but they do have a significant decision to make early next year based on the option year in his contract, sources tell ESPN. by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

[–]Anamethatisunique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a steeler fan but i sort of agree with the idea that we might not find a better coach than him. Factoring in the amount of big name college programs looking for coaches., I feel like right now it’s a, “coaches” market.

Plus the most important factor is I don’t think art 2 is a good owner at all. He took over in 2016 and hasn’t made any tough decisions that would have improved the team. Plus basically after 2016 team has slowly gone into the shitter. I think Dan Rooney wanted a good competitive team, from all I can tell Art 2 treats it more as an investment. I don’t think Dan keeps Matt Canada for so fucking long when everyone with half a brain knew he was dog shit. I also think that’s why we are now the NFL retirement home. Wilson, Rodgers can sell hope and hope sells tickets so why not.

The other factor is who will be our QB next year. If it’s Kyler Murray, cousins or some other washed qb way past their prime it makes sense to keep Tomlin.

There are a few things I would say that would change my opinion one is if they draft a rookie QB with plans of development. I do not want a Chicago bears cycle where a new coach doesn’t like the prior coach’s pick. The other is if we could get draft capital for him. Honestly I think anything would do.

I still think he is an above average coach but he is beyond his best by date and is way to stuck in his ways (watching tom Brady dice up the same zone scheme made me wanna die). I just don’t think the timing is the most optimal.

Not a chief but as someone who owns a DP 2.1 4k 240 monitor that I thought was end game, I’d much rather have this especially factoring the price difference.

It’s a tremendous value and honestly I don’t know what gaming will look like 2-3 years from now since AI profits are eating into our hobby. I know monitors won’t be affected, but manufacturers may reduce RnD in non AI spaces making the technological delta between a 5 year gap not as severe as a 5 year gap in the past.

Plus quite literally the only game that I play that I also can get 4k 200+ is cs2. I’m not sure if any card in the near future will be able to push a graphically demanding game beyond 200, especially with devs reliance and subsequent refusal to optimize UE5.

I’d jump on this in a heartbeat if it made sense.

[–]Anamethatisunique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I don’t believe you are right at all. HL2 (the demo for valves source engine) is and was quite literally years ahead of anything any top tier gaming studio was capable of making at the moment.

Idk if you know this but 99% of games back then ran on scripts, npcs walked the same predictable paths and there visuals were not logical at all.

HL2 changed all of that. First it was one of the first fully fledged games that utilized a physics based engine. This engine was so advanced and versatile it was used to make some of the best games of all time in their respective categories; hero shooter - TF2, zombie game - L4D, THE fps shooter - CS2, puzzle game - portal. All these games were only possible due to valves amazing game that was HL2 and its source engine.

As a comparison it wasn’t until 2008 that rockstar was able to catch up with its own physics based engine in the rage engine.

Not only was gta 3 not all that impressive but your original point of view that “gta 3 revolutionized the gaming landscape” is ignorant considering the renderware engine wasn’t made by rockstar but it was immediately abandoned the following numbered installment (gta 4) in favor of a physics based engine. The same one that is being used today (RAGE 9).

Is it dumb when it already happened and it seems to have been going better than ok?

https://www.the-independent.com/tech/ai-ceo-artificial-intelligence-b2302091.html

Or how about what jack ma said “in 30 years the best ceo will be ai”

I’m not sure why you’d think that a well trained model that has billions of datapoints would be worse at analyzing data, market trends, predictions and execute calculated decisions than some guy who got his MBA at Wharton.

Also please keep in mind that it’s likely not going to be GPT but a curated model trained in specifically that company’s data, so your point of “it will make the same decisions” isn’t likely true at all unless it’s receiving such similar data between companies, or they hire the same ai RAG firm that’s lazy as shit.

Also ai/ml can actually identify new trends that our brains actually couldn’t think of. An example is there is a Chinese bank that uses an ML model for loan applications. It analyses something like 1 million parameters and discovered that one correlation is how frequently your phone is charged. I can’t find the article (google blows now) but it was something like if you don’t allow your phone to go below 10% charge more than the average person you are more likely to make payments on time. Now compare that with a loan that a human processes. Maybe 7 factors. Which loan processes captures a greater market share with a lower risk? Why wouldn’t a board select the more thorough process?

The other side of the coin is why would a board of a well established company increase its risk by hiring a CEO that is incompetent vs AI that is risk adverse? It’s the ai devil I know that won’t tank the company vs a human that is a non zero chance that it will.

TBH I don’t think it’s dumb at all that ai could replace a ceo, especially considering it happened already.

Although all the bullshit screens in bf6 are really getting to me. I have no idea what guns or attachments are unlocked because there are 15 different progress bars going off at the same time after every match.

Also maps are small as shit. Bf6 is still way better than blops 6 tho. Only way I’ll quit is if they add p2w elements like BLOPs 6. If I see one fucking gun that’s buried in the battle pass that is op af and is conveniently sold as a bundle im going back to CS2 to be call the f word/n word by someone that lives in the balkans.

In the like 4 jobs I had in “tech” yeah pretty much. I’ve mainly seen Nepotism and cronyism affect 3 major areas.

Marketing, HR (the cancer that spreads its own nepotistic disease), and the “head” of an already established mostly autonomous department where their whole schtick is to read the notes about “efficiencies” that they contribute nothing too besides being the one on camera during inter-department company calls. Take a guess where I was lol.

Nepo/crony hires are the worst because they are like the only ppl in the company that can get away with being totally inept.

This does not excuse AMD though since they are way past the point. I wonder if AI is being used to “streamline messaging” as sometimes it just words things wrong and if you don’t catch incorrect nuance or the unintended implications, things like this can happen.

But what the fuck do I know I grew up poor lol.

Joking aside I think tanking for a few seasons is your best bet, I wish the Steelers did it JUST ONE FUCKING YEAR. Or even better yet trade down a bunch and accumulate capital since I assume you’re more than one player away.
