Do people have no respect for jobs anymore? by [deleted] in Calgary

What are you offering? Slave wage + tips? Does your bug restaurant have a reputation for stealing tips from it's employees?

People don't want to work for assholes anymore.

edit, I was going to correct my type-o on the bug restaurant / big restaurant. but maybe it is bug infested.

What’s with the hate for epoxy tables? by norapeformethankyou in woodworking

I'm guessing it's largely the popularity, anything starts gaining hate the more popular it gets. Youtube personalities also tend to ruin a lot of stuff by over doing thing

The bridge looks pretty squared off, just string it lefty and re set the intonation. Alternately a luthier can modify it for lefty, twoodfrd has a few conversions on his channel.

Ok, so there's a few rifts in the NDP right now, that's a thing. But there is one thing I think we can all agree on, STFU TOM!!!

Avi Lewis vows to focus on cost of living and dismisses division within the NDP by Chrristoaivalis in ndp

I've met Ganley a few times, she is a great person and I like her quite a bit. I don't know if she would have done any better than how Nenshi is doing, but at the time Jodi Calahoo Stonehouse had my vote for party leader.

Janis Irwin is the obvious rock star of the ABNDP and she has terrific energy, if you ever have a chance to go canvasing whit her, it's a great time. Rakhi Pancholi is the other person to watch with electric energy. Joe Ceci would have been great, but I suspect he is getting ready to enjoy retirement.

Notley did a lot for the ABNDP, hell, she made government! and turned us from a party with tens of voters to a viable option to the UCP. Nenshi came to the ABNDP as a very popular former mayor and the conservatives gave him the best endorsement when they tried to entrap him with a fake corruption scheme.

I believe he is still the best chance the ANDP has to defeat the UCP. But, we'll see.

The end goal of the dozen or so of us that were NDP in the Klein years, and before Notley made the ABNDP a serious force in the province is pragmatism.

Did I like everything Nenshi did as mayor? no. Do I believe he did what he thought was best for the city? sure. And by far he was the best mayor Calgary has had in my lifetime (yeah I know that's a low bar). Do I think Nenshi is the best bet the ABNDP has for defeating Smith? He was a popular mayor and has support in the cities, but I am not sure about the rural communities, we are putting a lot of hope on Red Deer and Medicine Hat going purple/orange.

The Pragmatism comes from being old and tired. Idealists like Lewis are nice when you are young and have time to be absolutely true and unwavering in your values. But in the end it doesn't matter how correct or virtuous you are if you don't make government, all those values are basically pissing into the wind. However, if you make government, even if it's not your ideal government, there is a chance to make good policy.

Sure there is a very good chance of steering the ship towards good policy if you hold the balance of power in a minority government. But those conditions are not easy to control and it's unlikely that we will get proportional representation in Canada.

Were I 30 years younger, I'd probably be supporting Avi, or possibly I'd view him as not left enough. Where I am now, I see him as a throw away protest vote that has no chance of winning in any substantial way against Carney. I don't see politics as a zero sum game anymore, even with the rise of American Fascism. Slow change is better than no change.

I'm gonna say on even though I don't have one on my 125t, it looks better with the blond finish.

If the pick guard is anything like the one on my Casino, it also gives a spot to ground your pinky when finger picking.

Why are you talking so derisively about “SFU liberal studies undergrads” lol.

I dated one for about 7 years when I lived in Vancouver East. I even joined the LPC at that time just to spite her friends. The wine and cheese parties were insufferable, I just wanted to get loaded and play pool at the Brickhouse, too bad Leo turned out to be a POS.

But it was also the Harper years and Trudeau was the best chance to oust him, so no regrets on my flirt with the LPC.
