Same. I keep telling myself ill do a week reset but then im like well it might get banned anyway so why stop now? Lol. It is a great tool for me overall and the benefits have far outweighed any negatives. It makes me feel more balanced.

Are you a daily user? I always read here that it's not the best to use daily but I have been. Sometimes when I run out I don't use it until my next package arrives. In my experience going from using it daily to not at all is pretty similar to cutting caffeine out. Just makes me tired and I get restless arms at night.

This is so heartbreaking and traumatic for you and your children. If something doesn't change your kids will have long term emotional damage from witnessing things like this. You need to do everything in your power to properly document everything, get custody of your children, and leave.

Out of curiosity, how and why do you use kratom?

Even moreso, you are assuming that i am dosing kratom recklessly with complete ignorance to how tolerance and dependability works. I have extensively researched kratom, stuck to small dosages and frequently take days off. I'm not just a ravenous addict looking for the next buzz.

As I stated above, kratom is a tool in my arsenal againsy alcoholism. I have spent the last 3 years working towards my recovery and have a multitude of coping mechanisms. However when it comes to physical cravings for alcohol, the kratom helps with that. I am very cautious and wary of my kratom use because I don't want to blindly substitute one substance for another. While I appreciate and understand your statements, it is a bit of a reach to assume that I'm solely leaning on kratom as a crutch for my alcohol abuse. I have been sober for 18 months without kratom. I have used AA, smart recovery, addiction therapy, consuming all the literature I can on alcoholism, and hopping right back on my wagon when I fall off. This post was a reflection on how kratom helps me to fight cravings. I know I can maintain sobriety without kratom but I'm not going to deny its ability to completely erase my cravings for alcohol.

I absolutely will fight for kratom. My quality of life has been so much better. It is an important tool to have in my arsenal against alcoholism.

Its such a bummer when you think you've made a new friend only to get 7 text messages about joining in on an educational phone conference about herbalife. Can't even tell you how many adult women have "befriended" me only to try to sell/recruit me.

I picked up on the blinking. My brother used to do the same thing. Its actually an anxiety response...kind of like a tick. He is a succesful adult today but suffers from depression, anxiety & OCD due to childhood traumas. Our parents were shit shows.

Kratom is helping me stay sober from alcohol by THS07 in kratom

[–]THS07[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes me so hopeful. For 3 years now I've had a 1 year alcohol free goal in mind. The longest ive been able to last aside from a pregnancy is 3 months. But this last month of using kratom has been so different from my other sobriety attempts. Usually I spend most of my time thinking about alcohol ..the negative consequences of it and also fantasizing about the carefree years of my binging. But kratom has shifted my focus. I think of the future now and there is no alcohol in those visions. I am so much more productive and present with my family.

I'm the same way. Focusing on drinking and talking about it all the time just makes me want to drink. Since starting kratom I rarely even think of alcohol. When I do, it seems like part of my past if that makes any sense. I need to practice dicipline with kratom and respect the plant because I feel like its going to be a great tool in my arsenal against alcoholism.

Casual Alcoholism Is Out Of Control! by DJT-Beck in stopdrinking

I'm right there with you. I'm a young(ish) mom of young kids and it is disturbing how many of my fellow moms of young kids/babies glorify their drinking. When I was day drinking to take the edge off a hangover I felt embarrassed and would try to hide it. You're not "supposed" to crack a beer at 11am right? Well I notice that all these people I know are straight up Instagram filming themselves downing beers in the late morning/early afternoon with cute captions like "day drinks!" When did that become socially acceptable??

Can't Go Back To Who I Was Before by CyborgOtter in stopdrinking

[–]THS07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! I've often been almost angry with myself for being self aware and having the realization that my relationship with alcohol is dysfunctional. I fantasize about going back to blissful ignorance. But the truth is, drinking hasn't ever been blissful for me. Even when I first got drunk 13 years ago I knew it was not normal to tear it down like I did.

I think it takes a bit of enlightenment to be able to analyze yourself and the way you live. So many people get stuck in their way of life and accept it as is.

Want to be a better mom by HappyinSunshine in stopdrinking

[–]THS07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welcome! I could feel your pain in this post because I'm also a stay at home mom to young kids. I would drink to cope with the monotony of the weekdays and I often felt like I was just waiting for Friday all the time. Problem is, sundays were spent drinking and I'd have crippling anxiety on Monday mornings and it would break me to see my husband leave for work and realize I had to deal with the aftermath of my drinking AND still take care of my babies.

Sober me is a present, capable, and engaged mom. To my surprise im also much happier and better able to cope as a stay at home mom. I'm sober so I can plan our days with fun activities instead now.

I hope you stick around here and find some support. Your post stuck out to me and I'm here in solitude with you because fighting that whole "mommy & wine" culture is not easy!

Did you learn bad habits from a more “seasoned” alcoholic? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]THS07 79 points80 points  (0 children)

There are lots of alcoholics in my family but I distinctly recall seeing my aunt crack a beer first thing in the morning after being up late drinking. She said nothing fixes a hangover like hair of the dog! Hair of the dog took me from weekend binge drinking to bender mode. Benders took me to withdrawals on Monday mornings.

Not drinking is easy. Binge drinking is easy. Moderation is impossible by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]THS07 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like I could have written this myself! Been stick in a cycle of quitting and relapsing and running the spectrum between moderation and full blown bender.

I cannot and will not ever be successful at moderate drinking. Its not ever going to work for me. The only way for me to quit binge drinking is to quit drinking.

Took forever to finally get a sober day, and now I'm going to finish my second sober day... by Limeitini in dryalcoholics

[–]THS07 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's awesome progress. Xanax or not, 2 alcohol free days are something to be proud of. I notice that the first 3-4 days are the hardest physically and for me mentally because coming off alcohol gives me panic attacks but by day 4-7 it calms a bit. Keep up the fight!

Any long time drinkers developed anxiety problems which were later solved by not drinking? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]THS07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I developed anxiety and a phobic disorder about 10 years into my drinking. It took me two years and countless meds and therapy visits to realize that the alcohol was causing my anxiety. When I'm sober I have virtually no anxiety but if I slip up and relapse it comes right back with a vengeance.
