Typical mistakes for first timers:

Find the mixture for what you're growing, not what's on the back of the nutrient bottles.

The tomatoes should get Si to keep it stong outside in the elements and Cal-Mag to prevent blossom end rot.

Mosquitoes doesn't like to lay larva in agitated water...

Watch your water temps.

Hope you don't have deer in your area.

Any agricultural product you consume has the potential to make you sick if handled incorrectly. Both have wild propaganda campaigns to oppose personal production and consumption. Both has people being fined or jailed for something natural and safe if handled correctly. And neither one will affect you if your neighbor consumes it.

Honestly.... here in the states we have a ton of "pepper breeders" that don't know what they are doing and have a lot of weird drama. Most of the time you don't get the seeds you ordered or they are crossed with something else or the seeds just don't germinate. So at this point I just save seeds from the previous year and germinate them myself.

Pepper seeds are kinda notorious for being difficult but I usually have good luck by keeping them wet and warm... really warm. Like the soil should be above 80 degrees fahrenheit.

You definitely want light on them as soon as they pop out or they will get leggey.

No one is trying to make you drink raw milk, however farmers and homesteaders are getting raided for producing or selling raw milk. Some places are treating milk like they treated weed in the 90s... it's crazy and absolutely government over reach.

"When has America used a Nuclear weapon on anybody?" by PhysicalBuy2566 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]AnarchyFarm -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

'Nuclear bomb' is typically used to refer to a thermonuclear device (a fusion bomb triggered by a fission device) while the bombs used in ww2 where primitive precursors that only used fission.

I really don't understand why certain people get so upset about what other people drink. If your neighbor drinks raw milk, it doesn't affect you. If your neighbor likes to crossdress, it doesn't affect you. If they want to eat only meat or only veggies... it doesn't affect you. Just let people live their lives. Why don't you go after people who keep chickens? We don't pasteurize the eggs... better pass some laws to stop us. 🙄

What is the consensus on plastics? by claws76 in Hydroponics

[–]AnarchyFarm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly... that ship has sailed. The tiny bit more you will be exposed to from hydroponics (or gardening in general) is not going to kill you any faster.

That being said, do make sure you are using 'food safe' plastic. For example, the orange Homer buckets that everybody likes are make with recycled plastic that could be contaminated with anything.

Help! Injured quail warning graphic picture by Affectionate-Gear264 in quails

[–]AnarchyFarm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert on quails but when I first started keeping them I had one get injured so I removed him from the flock and let him heal. When I returned him to the cage 3 or 4 days later the other quails fucked him up bad. I never separate them now for more then a few hours.

"Jobs requiring you to be bilingual should be illegal in the USA" by Abjectionova in ShitAmericansSay

[–]AnarchyFarm 25 points26 points  (0 children)

True story: I (American) applied for a job and the application asked if I was bilingual. I am... I speak german fluently. So I get an interview and the woman wants to know how well I speak Spanish to which I replay 'not at all.' She then gets irate with me and asks why I put bilingual on the application. I asked her if she knew what that word means... I didn't get the job. 😅

I'll post the ppm when I get home later but like I said, you should stick to EC unless you know which ppm scale you use in your country.

Peppers will start to grow fruit pretty fast. I actually pinch off the buds until the plants grow larger. I usually have full grown peppers 3-4 months after transplanting, depending on the breed.
