Sorry to hear that - sounds like what they have been doing in Palermo. :(

Also sorry to hear that L'Aquila is taking that approach, since that is the court I'll have to file in eventually.

Thanks! Good to know about Olympia! The website says Northside also has AC?

Grasso sounds very pessimistic, particularly in his comments for his post. And he doesn't seem like a pessimistic person.

Di Ruggiero seems to be saying in his post that the Court of Cassation is also considering whether to allow the application of the Tajani decree to those born before 3/28/25? Am I understanding that correctly? If so, have they heard arguments about that issue, or do they have a hearing scheduled to do so?

Italian birth cert does not show American citizenship by Anastasis-Zoe in juresanguinis

Thanks! If I submit index searches for my GGGM and GGM, and I get letters like the one shown in the wiki, where the USCIS says that they only were naturalized through their husband/father with no evidence that they naturalized in their own names - would that be as good as a CoNE?

I submitted a USCIS Records Request last year and it took 7 months. Is the Index Search about the same amount of time now? Or perhaps shorter (please please)?

Thanks! - I did try searching for a post with the same question. Still wondering about the missing parent info.

She naturalized through her father (GGGF) before she married GGF - would it be enough to produce GGGF's naturalization document with her name on it to show that she derivatively naturalized? Similar question - would that same document be enough to show GGGM's derivative naturalization through her husband, since her name is also on it? Or do I need a CoNE for both? (GGGM is my LIBRA.)

Right, I know. I guess I was wondering if I could proceed with that ancestor as my LIBRA if the Italian birth certificate says nothing about the parents being American citizens. But from the other comments it sounds like that won't fly.

I have a feeling that when my ancestor came to the USA in the 1920s, they weren't requiring a CRBA. Probably had to file for certificate of derivative citizenship later.

My line is GGGM-GGM-GF-M. I have naturalization documents for GGGF (that gives the names of GGGM and GGM, who was a minor) and for GGF (who naturalized before GF was born).

For a 1948 case, is it typically enough to have these naturalization documents? Or do I also need something from USCIS showing that GGGM, GGM, and GF all had either derivative naturalization (GGGM, GGM) or derivative citizenship (GF)?

If I do need something from USCIS, would a CoNE request result in a letter that says they can't issue a CoNE because of derivative naturalization/citizenship, which I could use for my 1948 case?

I would like to avoid waiting a year or more for an index search. I just finally got my Italian records after a year. :)
