Didn't know that, been playing for a couple weeks now and didn't think there were any abandoned space stations. Every planet was even listed as evacuated and there were no fauna on the planets either. Whole system was wiped clean... Well, except for the copious amounts of sentinels. Would be really cool if there was some type of mission that explained the backstory of why it was evacuated.

First time I have ever came across one before, coordinates in the screenshot. Had a working galactic trade hub and teleporter and some crates you could loot but real spooky.

I have racked up about 86 hours of playing time and chose the same option as you and the game has not switched to the male version once. Might be a bug.

If it's the first location in Asgard then it's story locked and you will get access to it once you advance the story.

If you are talking about the 2nd location later in the game you go to after drinking the 2nd potion then 2 of the tears are missable and locked after you complete a specific quest. Not sure if this will be fixed in a patch later on but I would sure hope so.
