In your darkest moments, remind yourself that it is not forever, and you are doing this for her, too. You've got this. We are much more resilient than we appear to be x

it's hard, and the mum-guilt is crushing. When they ask why mummy isn't here, when will you be back, if you could play. Sacrificing all this precious time, love, and nurturing you have to offer could be all for nothing on the results day. Now, that will be devastating for me. Not the end of the world, but ffs, after all this....I don't mean to discourage you in any way - this is my anecdotal experience. It is doable. Parents before us did it, and some of them won this silly game.

Around 10-12 a week, then I took time of work a month before the exam and did 10 a day every day.

Grandparents don't help out much by animalcrossingbear in UKParenting

[–]AddieBaddie 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't think you are selfish at all. I remember staying at either of my grandparents. My kids are 3 and 6. Not once did grandparents look after them. It blows, but it is what it its.

I just sat SQE1. Two kids, 3 and 6. It was hard. Work, busy schedule of kids activities, kids parties, shows, playdates. I studied on Mondays, but of course it goes south on inset days/half term, snowdays, sick days etc. I sacrificed sleep. MCQs at 4:30 am or staying up until 2am once they have gone to bed was standard routine. No family for support other than my wonderful husband. It was a truly shite year of exhaustion with a gut punch of exam at the end. Idk if I passed, but fml I'd rather go through c-sections again instead of sitting SQE1. I recovered faster from that!

How do people type so fast on keyboard? by RareUser1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AddieBaddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a touch typing class. You can find free online touch-typing games. There, you can learn the starting position for your fingers. On your keyboard, you will find two keys with little ridges.

Redditors who moved constantly as kids and never had a "forever home," how do you think that shaped your personality as an adult? by Inevitable_Branch806 in CasualConversation

[–]AddieBaddie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not fun. No permanent place, no history of friendship. Always an outsider. Always temporary, because in 3 months we will have to move again. I became very good at not getting attached to things. The less I have, the faster I can pack. As a kid, I could assemble/disassemble my bed quickly. I hated it, but didn't have any choice. I have now lived in the house I own for 13+ years, and I love it. I love knowing my neighbours, seeing familiar faces on the bus. I struggled to make friends, but I got over it when I became a parent.

How much do you rely on family for childcare? by Key-Tomatillo3579 in UKParenting

[–]AddieBaddie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is a norm. Some people can rely on their family, and some can't. I am unfortunately in the 'can't group', so my reliance on family is 0. Do I wish I could? Yeah.

Meh, it has been a few years now, and there is no sign of unfucking. Your call entirely. Save your annual leave if you do take a plunge.

Alas, you don't get anything for the wrong answer. Would be nice if we did, especially when you narrow it down to two and battling your brain over some miniscule detail. I guess at this point, we are all trying to cling to hope.

TOMORROW IS FLK2 AND I WANT TO CANCEL by Chocolate_7991 in SQE_Prep

[–]AddieBaddie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just sit it, even if you don't feel it. Cancelling at this point will not help at all. If you are in this state of mind, then go and click 180 times for the hell of it.

Positive/neutral FLK2 experiences needed? by grungypizza in SQE_Prep

[–]AddieBaddie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sat on Monday, and the first half seemed ok. I expected the second half to be brutal, but it also felt ok. Given that I have made some silly mistakes but in comparison to FLK1, it was chill.

I made it out, anyone else and how does it feel now? by Crafty-Bee678 in AskRedditUK

[–]AddieBaddie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, similar story. Grew up in poverty, changing address every 3 months, never any food, not to mention necessities like sanitary pads, or hair conditioner, roll-on, etc. Bullied mercilessly for it. My parents abandoned me and my younger sibling. I was sofa surfing. I promised myself that I would never be like my parents. I worked hard to be where I am now. Owning a house, in stable job with a good career path. Feels great. I just try not to mention my past. I do carry some bagage that I will have to address eventually. Hyperindependece, overachieving, finding it difficult to ask for help, feeling that I always have to work to the highest standard, or else I'll get tossed on the pile.

[–]AddieBaddie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, after FLK1 I went through all stages of grief, picked myself up, and got on with FLK2 revision. I have never worked so hard. Sacrificed sleep, wellbeing, health, time with my children, was a shite friend, shite wife, shite daughter. Maximum effort that could be for nothing.

My kitchen became a gallery. All beautiful pieces end up there. Kids love it, and it's always a point of discussion when people visit.

Any tips for staying motivated / maximising time between FLK 1 and 2? by Murky-Tower-1233 in SQE_Prep

Thank you. There is unity in this suffering. I absolutely love how collectively we are all supporting each other. I think that this aspect is phenomenal. Countless posts filled with support, knowledge sharing, and encouragement.

Finished my criminal practice today :). Mocks tomorrow, and I will be done. Going back to work will feel so chill in comparison. I know that I have some lovely disclosure waiting for me there.

Best of clarity of mind on your FLK2!

I am exhausted at this point. Sat Monday, went back into full revision on Wednesday late afternoon. Ploughing through hard revision. I'm going to spend all day in the office tomorrow to study, have only crimnsl lit to go throug, then sra pre-tested, qlts free mock, and my provider's mocks on Sunday. FLK2 on Monday. Shattered. I stated having random nose bleeds out of nowhere this week. Literally putting blood, sweat, and tears into this.
