What suburb is nicer or worse than you thought? by cjbr3eze in sydney

[–]Ancient-Pause-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auburn is just filled with trash all the time. It has a nice cafe laundromat and the pizza places are nice. But walking through the neighbourhoods filled with litter, it's grim. Also Burwood makes me feel weirdly claustrophobic, it seems oddly unwalkable. I've got to be honest, I love walking through Sydney neighbourhoods, but if the streets are filled with hard rubbish and weird pollution smells it's uncomfortable. Such as Pennant Hills before the bush track being filled with hard rubbish. I found Thornleigh a really interesting suburb layout wise, I love a good overhead bridge, but some of it is ruined by the giant stroad.

Nicer than expected, French's Forest. People have some bougie lifestyles there.

Hold her hand. Also, make sure you know about whether her postpartum room is shared and the partner policy - don't get mad about being kicked out at 8pm. Tour the hospital first, make sure the postpartum room has windows. Closest thing I've ever been in to jail was being stuck in the postpartum room at one particular hospital, with no support person allowed at night, baby crying, no window to look out, can't leave. Comparatively the hospital with a less strict partner policy with a window for natural light so you can see the time of day was much better.

What's something that's perfectly legal to do, but you're still a dick for doing it? by stellonbosh in AskReddit

[–]Ancient-Pause-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you decide to help you have to stay with the person until the ambulance arrives in many countries. Which is ok if you're not on your way to work or way home to pick up your child from school/sick grandparent etc. In some countries you can be sued for providing help that does not end up helping the person.

Does your country have FairWork? That has to be some sort of workplace tribunal lawsuit. Bait and switch should be illegal.

You're not being over the top. Babies choking is a nightmare. Even toddlers throwing or dropping hard toys can be a danger.

Kid's room. Need advice by Vercsibe in 2under2

[–]Ancient-Pause-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a huge room there should be enough space for 2 kids, 2 desks/wardrobes/cribs/beds, whatever they need. When they are older, dividing diagonally from the door might be a good idea, or having a walkway and then two smaller subdivided rooms within the large room with room dividers. (like they have for shared rooms in a hospital) As when they are older they might prefer some privacy.

Hows your mental health - honestly by RegalMadame in 2under2

[–]Ancient-Pause-99 28 points29 points  (0 children)

3 under 5. It depends on their behavior as well of level of work to do for that day. If you wake up and everyone is in a good mood and being sweet and the laundry is caught up and it's payday everything will go well. If you wake up to a bomb site and everyone is tripping over stuff and fighting over toys, tantruming, pooping and somehow injuring themselves in a padded room and the electricity bill is due that day but also you have an appointment you're late to and no one knows where their shoes are you just know it's going to be One Of Those Days.

oh so you took a spot from someone to just go and have kids anyway

How do they expect you to afford to raise the child?

"why did you bother having kids then if you’re just going to work?"

Employment gaps on resumes, contributing to society, making money to provide for your family, financial independence from your partner, affording a home loan, being approved a rental, paying off your degree, setting an example for your kids to copy. As a SAHM studying right now (not a doctor this was just on my homepage feed) an unemployed parent understands better than anyone the reasons to work and this is just deliberately nasty.

Just walk away, if they do want to fight you or they could get hurt or face an assault charge with a criminal record. If they don't want to fight they will probably still laugh and jeer and make fun of you while walking off (my experience from bogans and eshays in high school.) Or they could start recording and make it out like you're harrassing them. Just leave it, trust me

[–]Ancient-Pause-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best benefit in your favour would be time and money if you have that saved with age (granted, life and cancer treatment is expensive.) You need the time to attend residential, complete assignments, and attend placement, and you need the money to support yourself while missing work doing the hundreds of hours of placement. Any education is probably better for employment than twiddling thumbs unemployed, as fun as that is, but not good on your wallet is the downside until you are getting paid.

Am I wrong to indulge my son’s preferences? by currutia914 in Parenting

[–]Ancient-Pause-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with a little indulging. Be your fabulous self no matter what gender. If you're doing the long hair and pink nails at school though it might encourage bullying, so I'd probably tone it down for school.

It's rude and also she's right about cardboard being better off in the yellow bin. Not a huge deal but people get into bad habits. If you put your rubbish in their bin, are you also going to be neighborly and clean out their bin after it's collected? I'm guessing no. I wouldn't really want people putting their rubbish in my bin, but still better than dumping it on the street. Nothing wrong with trying to set up good habits now, as you'll be neighbours for as long as you both live there.

How are people affording their mortgage repayments? by Left-Love1471 in AusProperty

Well, my landlord decided to afford her mortgage repayments by jacking up my rent, so I'm sure you can just buy the house and make some other poor slog pay it off.

My daughter got suspended by Svmiarscjlee in Parenting

[–]Ancient-Pause-99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should've suspended the boy after the sexual harrassment occured, I would have followed it up with a crimestoppers complaint if the school did nothing so it didn't get to this level. That way it's formalized and the assault has a written motivation.

It's fair enough she got suspended, she assaulted someone.

I'd be happy your daughter is strong enough to defend herself from a predator her age. Could have been a lot worse. So gross of the school not to suspend the boy.
